Does anyone choose clothing over armour?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:03 pm

My mage only wears robes, utilizing the Mage Armor spells. My assassin wears a variety of regular clothes with the DB boots for the muffle effect. That's about to change next time she spots an enchanting table now that she's found a set of armored boots enchanted with muffle.

I'm pretty sure you can't disenchant and learn the muffle effect, if that is what you are saying.

Since I tend to role-play a lot, I usually wear normal clothes when I'm in town chopping wood or what-not, and then I change into my epic dragonscale armor when I'm getting ready to enter a dungeon or fight a dragon. I just don't feel like my character is comfortable wearing sophisticated armor when he's just relaxing at home with his wife, or selling all of his loot to the local store.

Hmmm, good to know, I must have been just trying with the DB armor not other found pieces.

I'm doing a little challenge that requires me to wear un-enchanted clothes. So yes.

I prefer to use both the mourner's clothes mixed with stormcloak officer bracers, black mages hood, and dragonscale boots :P and the poacers axe but thats a weapon.

My favorite thing to do in Oblivion was make a decent outfit out of the available clothing then armor-enchant them. You know, so I could ROLE PLAY.
I see no reason why such variety had to be.... oh right. The supposed "strain" of having so many NPCs wear so many things. Because that should be a problem in a game for 2011/12. What a fail.

I have two characters who wear clothing over armor as they rely on alteration.

1. Breton mage / witch who wears green clothes / robes with alteration as armor and conjured weapons for attacks.

2. Redguard warrior who has a scimitar and a dwarven shield and wears Hammerfell Garb. Again the Redguard uses alteration instead of armor (done because Redguards get a +5 in alteration and zero bonus in armor so I guessed it suited their lore - works quite well as are quick on their feet)

I'm always dragging spare clothes around. I have a set of fancy clothes for when I'm visiting with the nobles, and set of casual wear for when I'm just strolling around the cities and what not. Then I have my light armor, which I typically wear whenever there's possible danger around and when traveling, and then I have my fur armor which I wear when there's snow around. I also carry a hood for when it's raining or snowing. It doesn't really add that much weight, only like 10-12 points, which is acceptable for better role playing.

I also carry a tent, tinderbox, woodaxe and other camping gear, so about 60 points of my total carrying capacity is used only on role playing items. I also use the fur bag mod, which gives me another 50 points, so it sort of evens out.

One of my characters is like this. I made a ninja type that only wears fur gauntlets and boots. I only use the katana, never with a shield. Using a torch in the off hand is pretty decent, it allows you to block then light them on fire, drauger hate this. There are times it gets tough, i play on hard and with no armor you have to be careful and carry alot of potions.

I tend to do the same.

I mostly always wear clothing only. My archer is sneaky and hardly ever gets into a melee battle or confronted or seen, period.

In Oblivion I played a claymore-wielding warrior who wore only clothes, no armor. It was hectic, heart-stopping and fun. I plan to do the same thing in Skyrim soon.

Of course.

As a mage, the Archmage's robes are too useful to pass up.

I wanted a challenge, so I started playing on Master with a character who uses unenchanted clothing exclusively and no Health upgrades. The game's still too easy.

Yeah, I go for clothing sometimes. Mostly inside the cities. Although there is something oddly satisfiying in mucking about in Tavern clothes or a chef's outfit. Enchanted of course. Thank the Eight (Nine) for alteration too.

I also don't like running up to Jarls looking like a slob. So I sacrifice a wee bit of carry weight for realism. *Sprints toward leader of town in Dark Brotherhood armor. No one is suspicious.* "Hey, can I do a quest for you? No, I'm not named Astrid. Why do you ask?"

I wish clothes cost more and affected disposition.

My mage wears robes most days. He has College Robes, Monk Robes, those black and purple robes, Archmage robes, and some nice cloths that look robe-like. All are enchanted to the gills and he mix and matches them with gloves and amulets (six dual enchanted amulets) to perfectly tweak his buffs every day.

My barbarian-like warrior (RPing as a nordic ex-imperial soldier disillusioned with his empire) wears fur armor. Pretty much always. Everywhere. Leather looks too restrictive and he wouldnt be caught dead in Elven gear.

depends on the character

Same here, my sneaky builds wear either clothing or light armor, and my tank builds always wear heavy or light depending on the tank
