Does anyone choose clothing over armour?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:41 am

I haven't done this in past Elder Scrolls games but there are some really cool looking outfits in the game. I usually change apparel depending on the region I'm going to(Fur armour in the moutains and colder regions. I really like the mourners apparel and some of the other clothes. One thing I wish we would see is cowls(or hats) that actually look like a hood. It justlooks weird when your walking around w/ a cowl on and it looks like your wearing a bonnet.(lol)

I've thought about having a set of traveling clothing, maybe stamina enchanted. Then put on my armor before going into a dungeon.

I prefer clothing, w/capes and hoods, over robes for my mage characters.

Does anyone choose clothing over armour?

Each of my characters has their 'going to town' clothing.
Most enchant their starting roughspun tunic for smithing work, two wear armour whilst questing, one only wears clothes (no armour) that she enchants for adventuring, and another wears clothing with enchanted light armour boots/gauntlets.

As for hoods and cowls, the Mages Hood you can get off Highway Thieves is nice. Same as a Novice Hood but not yet enchanted, so feel free to make it your own. Of all enchanted hoods, whether armour or no, I like the look of a particular rival thief's hood (won't put a spoiler in General Forum).

Yep I think it's worth the sacrifice for a cool looking outfit, although I still keep a pair of boots and gauntlets and enchant whatever clothes I use. I prefer to mix up my apparel just wish we still had separate greaves and pants though

Both my Mage and archer wear clothes over armor. The rest of my characters keep their clothes for wearing in towns and cities.

I used to in past games but in Skyrim I really dislike the clothing, not having tops and bottoms svcks. Hoping Dawnguard brings on some interesting outfits.

Maybe if we get an Unarmored skill in a future expansion.

I do. The Hammerfell garb, in particular, is beautiful.

My Argonian Mage (Vampire with Necromage) wears the Archmage's Robes, along with Thalmor Gloves enchanted with Fortify Magicka/Fortify Carry Weight, Thalmor Boots with Fortify Carry Weight/Resist Fire, Gold and Ruby Circlet with Forty Magicka/Fortify Magicka Regen, Gold Ruby Necklace with Fortify Magicka/Fortify Destruction, and a Gold Diamond Ring with Fortify Magicka/Fortify Magicka Regen.
With me leveling him with 1/4 levels into Health, and 3/4 levels into Magicka, he has plenty of Magicka and Magicka Regen to spam various Expert level spells, including Destruction ones. If he ever runs low, all i have to do is wait a few secs, and i can start blasting again. I keep Ebony Flesh going on him all the time (Benefits from Mage Armor perk), and in a heavy fight i cast Dragonhide.

If I ever give my Mage character more attention she's only going to wear clothes and robes, not armour.

Fighting while wearing a hood and a robe is very awesome. So, yes.

Yes. I'm abandoning my light armor for robes.

Edit: I changed my mind. I love light armor.

My Khajiit werewolf wears clothes instead of armor (when he's not running around naked), but my Dunmer vampire is the opposite, always wearing full Daedric armor. My normal Dunmer switches between clothing and armor depending on the situation and location.

I've tried this. I like the Mourner's outfit, and the idea of a quick and wily swordsman dancing around his heavily-armoured foes was appealing.

However, I did die a fair bit. My swordsman wasn't quite as quick and wily as he thought, evidently.

My sister (who only recently began playing Skyrim) favours clothing over armour because, in her words, 'the armour looks ugly on girls' haha. I think she may change her mind later if she keeps getting thrashed though!

I almost always use armour, the only times where I don't are with my Thieves Guild character, who I make switch to ordinary clothes when he's not doing the Thieves Guild quests, and also my mage character, who wears robes.

For my new arcane archer, I wear robes, but I use the armor spells from Alteration.

Mostly I just wear armour but I sometimes wear the archmages robes and enchanted emperors robes, more or less because they look nice, would never really wear them in battle unless I was a solid mage at the time.

My DB Mage wears the shrouded robes which are clothing. He is also a vampire so half of the time he wears shrouded hand wraps, shrouded shoes, the red 'fine clothes' and a circlet. He just looks like your average townie so no one expects a thing.
