Does it seem like oblivions weapons were a lot more creative

Wow, just did a count, and Oblivion had quite a bit more weapons than Skyrim.

I miss short swords. The Daedric one looked like an epic machete.

I GREATLY prefer Oblivion's glass weapons, especially maces and hammers. They were big round blunt pieces of glass. Much more devastating looking to me. Now in Skryim they seem to be more coppery whatever that crap is that they used as a filler. In the long run, I think Morrowind had better designs over both of 'em.

The weapons in both games are good in separate ways i think. I did enjoy the battleaxes and warhammers in oblivon a little better because they look quite heavy and strong. Mainly because they had a shorter handle i guess. *SPOILER IN NEXT LINE* we will be seeing dragon bone weapons made by bethesda comming to skyrim so could be some interesting designs with them. Also i do think skyrim did an overall much better job with the armor this time around.

My favorites

Iron-Skyrim
Steel-Skyrim
Dwemer-Skyrim
Ebony-Skyrim
Elven-Skyrim
Glass-Skyrim
Daedric-Skyrim, except for the long sword and dagger.

...I feel Skyrims base weapons were better designed.

Oblivion in general is a hell of a lot more creative than Skyrim IMO, and I fancied the weapons.

I enjoyed that we had shortswords and longswords, the designs for the generic scaled weapons were pretty boring. But I liked the unique ones, there were more and they looked better.

In comparison sure, Oblivion has more stuff weapon....Looks /material than Skyrim =Fact.

But by no means are they more creative or "varied" (read I.E Different) than Skyrim= Opinion

I disagree. I much prefer Skyrim's weapon and armor design over Oblivions. Except Elven swords, i think they looked better in Oblivion. Especially the elven dagger was a beauty

Oh right, Oblivion had shortswords :stare: Though there's little functional difference between them and longswords, and they are adding crossbows...

the only weapon I miss from oblivion is umbra outside of that I like the general design of the weapons in skyrim. hell if we are talking variety and creativity look at Morrowind which not only had more weapon variety but more armor variety as well.

I think skyrim has better looking weapons but Oblivion had more even though most were pretty plain and boring looking.

As for armor skyrim is definitely better than Oblivion with the only exception being the dark brotherhood armor.

I just wish that bethesda offered a few weapon designs from Oblivion and Morrowind. Historic weapons should still exist, they should just be rare/1-offs scattered around Skyrim.

If we are talking about common weapons, no contest; Skyrim has the coolest in every case except for glass, at which point I prefer the glass from Oblivion because they didn't cop-out and just do a re-texture of the Elven.

Uncommon weapons, aka unique: Oblivion because it seems to have more with unique meshes as well, which is the biggest thing for me; I want my double-bladed sword to be the only double-bladed sword.

Artifacts/Endgame weapons, even if its not part of the conversation, belong entirely to Morrowind. Like, seriously, in the Mournhold expansion you got not only a flaming god-sword that acted literally as a torch, but the blue equivalent as well.

Nothing about Oblivion is more creative than anything ever. Oblivion was absolute garbage. It's like the red headed step child of TES. All the other games are on a whole different level.

Well there are now 5 main Elder Scrolls games. The fact that the 4th one in the series is, by far, the worst... yes, it's displeasing. I'm just glad Bethesda was able to show with Skyrim that they haven't completely lost their touch. Still, as amazing as Skyrim is, there are still many backwards steps; enough that I remain skeptical about any future games in the series.

It's Fandom Logic, the new work is always super-cool for a few months before it's hated forever and worse than all the previous installments, untill the next installment arrives and becomes a few months old then it's super-cool again and the newer work is hated forever. Repeat until the death of the series or the human race.

 Yeah you summed it all up right here!

Much prefer Skyrim. Just remove yourself from the whole really devoted fan defensiveness about older games and realise that the more modern graphics make the weapons much more realistic. There's no need to be loyal, yes Oblivion weapons were great but Skyrim ones just look much better across the board.

Skyrim's make more sense as weapons.
Skyrim's have a better aesthetic.
Skyrim's have a high resolution.
(than Oblivion)
Skyrim wins.

Oblivion has the better variety.

Skyrim has the better graphics/aesthethics.

But not the bows. Anyone else think bows should be thin, long, and sleek? They're really fat and clunky looking in skyrim, in my opinion. Only longbows, huntingbows and imperial bows look appropriate I'd say.
