Don't your eyes hurt?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:01 pm

Every once in a while

1) Pause the game
2) Save
3) Turn off the TV/Monitor
4) Close your eyes and/or take a break

Dont sit too close to your screen and drink plenty of water,
Go to your local optician and get a quick check-up if your problem continues, because you might need glasses!
and again, dont sit too close to your screen :nono:

You must be 12. If your eyes start hurting then you are clearly playing for too long. Take regular breaks unless you want to have sight problems in the future.

Seeing as the only times my eyes usually hurt.. and the times I play the most consecutive hours.. are in the range of midnight to 6AM.

So, when my eyes hurt.. I go to sleep. lol

the 19th-21st I played 14 hours a day.
This is what I did.

Wake up, eat. Play 4 hours.
Take a break, fix lunch.
Play 6 hours.
Break to eat
Play 4 hours.
Sleep.

Keep water and snacks near by.

I suggest stepping away from your computer for healthy doses of time.

I have very sensitive eyes so I get this problem very easily. I just use some eye drops, and take a 5 minute break. Then get back to it. Really though if your a hardcoe gamer you are always gonna have that problem. Its best to get used to it, and don't let it bug you.

This happens to pretty much everyone when playing games, watching TV, on the computer, etc... No big deal.

Take a 15 minute break for every hour of play. Just like every video game manual says right in the front somewhere about safety.

When my PC's head is crippled, that moment of flashing light kind of irritated my sight alittle.

Eyes hurt from looking at something? go see an optometrist you need glasses. Also remember not to hold your breath when playing, sit up straight, move around in your chair and get up and stretch after combat sequence. Drink more water too just because the game is pretend desert dont mean you can afford to not drink water irl.

Grizzly's Pro Tips For Gaming Related Pain Issues

Tip 1: Before playing, follow these steps to prevent eye strain.

Steps: Look up, and then down. Look up and to the right, and then down and to the left. Look up and to the left, and then down and to the right. Look up and down, and then circle the room with your eyes. Prevents all eye stress!

Tip 2: To prevent carpal tunnel syndrome and or hand pains, follow these steps.

Steps: Hold both arms out in front of you and points all of your fingers out for 5 seconds. Let them hang and relax. Now, hold out both of your hands like you are signaling someone to "Stop!" for 5 seconds. Let them hang and relax. Ball your hands into fists and hold them out for 5 seconds. Then, keep them balled into fists and point them down with your arms still pointed out for 5 seconds. Let your hands relax.

Works like a charm!

Cheers,

Grizzly

Like after playing Fallout for such a long time don't your eyes start to hurt??
Mines get all red and dry and you literally can see bloodshot in my eyes, I feel like if I keep this up I could like suffer from some sort of eye problem in the future.
So I been told that playing with sunglasses will help, so I am currently doing that. But other than that, what do you suggest for me, AND for the other people suffering from this?
Thanks for checking out my post. :)

Play less? :P

Taking short 10 minute breaks helps, like slowly make a cup of coffee and use your eyes to look around a bit, use your eyes to their full extend!
What also helps is to look at something far away like 100 meters for like 10 secs, then look back at something close, look back at the far thing and repeat. This helps because when you look at a screen all the time your eyes never use the 'far away' mode.
Also try lowering the brightness of your screen.
And follow Grizzly20's advice too.

Play less? :P

That would be impossible for me and for every other Fallout gamer.
Also the sunglasses seem to work guys! I'm wearing an Aviator and it doesn't have UV protection, I think. Wait don't all sunglasses have UV protection?

I find that reading long conversations like with Caesar, to be a bit strenuous on the eyes.
