Here's what I would have done to make them near perfect

1. More variety
2. Make them more rare
3. More powerful
4. Different battle tactics

I agree on variety, They really need more variety than they have. At least have diferent markings, colours, forms.

Don't make them more rare, they're awesome, rare svcks! Make more dragons instead. :D

I agree on more powerful. They are too weak, sometimes.

The battle tactics, well theres only so many you can put in. But yes, they could be more varied.
They need more than fire and ice breath. Plasma, acid, darkness, electricity, force, theres lots of elements they could be. Mixed ones, like, Acid Ice, Electric Fire.

Am I the only one that came across a dragon that can control animals? It was the first thing I encountered after downloading the patch. I was shocked. I think dragons are getting better. I believe they should scale up with you up to level 55 or 60. Anything passed that means you're trying to make an overpowered character. In which case you should be owning dragons anyway.

But again has anyone run into the dragon that can control beasts? It's near the atronarch stone I believe.

They are powerful, compared with Skyrim's non-modded dragons.

Do you mean lorewise?
Because in game they're all but powerful...I mean, playing on master I found Elder and Ancient Skyrim dragons A LOT harder than NG+ Gaping Dragon and Seath the Scaleless....

Are you sure you did not have a spriggan around? They can control dragons.

Well... if you mean that they take longer to kill, perhaps, given the fact that the master difficulty in Skyrim enhances their defense and lowers your attack points, and gives them more health. At least in Dark Souls they've got different combat styles, they look different, and there are not thousands of them soaring in the skies.

I think they *are* amazing. Last night I finally had a chance to use the Call Dragon shout for the first time and that was a blast too. I've had some really memorable fights with some dragons and there were some easy ones too but that's ok; there should be a variety. The dive-bombing and fly-bys strafing fire are a sight to behold...just wonderful. I spent a long year in these forums anticipating the dragons and hoping they'd be great because I'd never fought one before. They turned out to be everything I wanted and so I'm happy! :tes:

More variety could come hand in hand with more Shouts. We only ever see them using either Frost or Fire breath. Having them use Unrelenting Force, Marked for Death, Animal Alegiance to turn bears against us, ect. would have added to the feeling that we are fighting an intelligent, reality-altering creature, not just any old fire-breathing dragon.

Also, just make them harder, but not only by giving them more HP and damage (like the Deadly Dragons mod did, and it fails imo). More numerous attacks, not only in the form of Shouts, but in melee. Like a wing buffet to know you around, a short leap to close the gap, using it's hind legs to strike at targets behind. Dragons in (say) Dragon Age: Origins did this, and it really worked. Simply approaching the beast should be very hard.

Also, make their minimum level higher. I'm OK with the first dragon being a wimp, but the rest should not lose to Sabre Cats, wolves and Bandits. Dragons shouls start at level 20 bare minimum, hell 25 even. Being beaten by a few Giants is one thing; losing to two Bandit Marauders is nothing short of humiliating for a damn dragon.

That's like comparing Madden and Gears of War. it doesn't fit in the same category. Dark souls is completely different in a lot of aspects from Skyrim. you can't really compare the two.
Players in Madden and Gears look like they're on steroids. Ha! Just compared them!

In my opinion dragons should be the most powerful creature on the game

Well.. Ancient Dragons is 2nd hardest enemy in game. 1st being Dragon Priest and I am not surprise. Dragon Priests are Liches and there are many stories, in many different games, where a Lich defeated a Dragon then reanimated the Dragon's corpse. (Why do you think there was a Skeletal Dragon in Laby?) But there are times when a Dragon killed a Lich as well.. So the #1 and #2 spots are kinda be fight over between Dragon Priest and Ancient Dragon.

I agree that the dragons needed to be more varied.

I would have really liked to see dragons that use multiple shouts (besides fire breath and ice breath). Then the battles between the dovahkin and dovah would have been these epic deadly debates that bethesda talked about. It would make you have to use shouts more wisely and truly make you feel like only you and you alone have the power to stop these immortal beasts.
Whereas, a Dragon attacks a town, lands in the middle of town and gets mauled by guards and dies super fast (even on master difficulty)

Imagine fighting an ancient dragon that would use become ethereal right before you hit it with a shout, and then came out of the etherreal realm with an unrelenting force, sending you flying. Or you're battling a dragon on the ground, and you distance yourself from it, only to have the dragon whirlwind sprint at you from 100 yards away, attacking you as soon as he lands in front of you.

Also i wanted to see a dragon use lightning breath. I Totally expected to see this come up in the game somewhere, but i was sorely dissapointed. They could have at least made it so Alduin used lightning breath, making him feel that much more unique, then another typical dragon fight.

It would have been a lot more interesting if the way shouts were designed was different.

As an idea, instead of having a global timer from using a shout once, it had a cool-down style timer that built up over time from rapidly using multiple different kinds of shouts. Make shouting a lot more reactive and powerful, basically like a back and forth war of words and counter words between the dragons and dragonborn. Now that would have been fun.

I agree. The main quest should've made you fear dragons. It should've pushed you to be prepared and level up before fighting these monsters. Go through the quest, and then it'll tell you to train and when you're ready, attack an area of importance which will have your first expected dragon encounter. Before that, you train and run the hell away from random encounters of these beasts. If you don't, you will die. Dragons should be level 40 at LEAST. This may seem extreme to some, but that's how I want to see dragons. As a [censored] dragon. A creature of destruction. Something that not anyone can accomplish.

-Not levellled to the player.

Instead they went out of their way to make sure you could beat the main quest at level one.
Its as if no-one ever heard anything anyone had to say about Oblivion.

Exactly.

Keep in mind these aren't technically dragons, but Wyverns with breath weapons/shouts. A true dragon has 4 legs and two wings (Or in the Eastern tradition, no wings and they just fly by magic.) These have wings that double as forelegs.

I'm not sure you can use that angle because "technically" TES doesn't follow many racial norms, physically and otherwise, of the fantastical races.

What's the facepalm for Eric?

Because when people say something such as "people are never content, they always have something to complain about" it just makes me want to bury my face in a pillow.

Or their face in the pillow.

Dragons in Skyrim are visually appealing, there's no denying that, but mechanically they could use a lot of improvement. Why Dragons don't use more of their own language (i.e. Shouts) is beyond me, it doesn't make logical sense that Dragons only seemingly known like three phrases in their own tongue. The fact that they also have no Armor Rating is also beyond me and, again, makes no logical sense since they are covered in natural armor.

They already are pretty amazing. I still find them beautiful and thrilling.

Also I don't know what you mean by different tactics- they already have a decent AI and there are different types of dragons.

Once you have Dragonrend, it matters not how powerful they are or what battle tactics they may have... they become chickenhawks for my blade... and I like it that way.

I agree with you. Nothing is cooler to me than walking down a path when I suddenly feel the controller shake and hear the overpowering sound of a dragon flapping its wings just above me. It sends chills up my spine even though I know I'll inevitably be harvesting it's bones and scales.

All a Dragon in Skyrim does is fly around, find a perch (or forced to land), Shout (one of two Shouts) when a player or NPC is within a certain range and then melee attack if said player or NPC gets within melee range.

If Dragons had been given more Shouts... or even better, magic, the fights could have been much, much better.
