Dragons COULD have been amazing

Here's what I would have done to make them near perfect

1. More variety
2. Make them more rare
3. More powerful
4. Different battle tactics

More powerful? Have you ever faced an ancient dragon at level 15?

Have you seen the dragons of Dark Souls?

THEY ARE varied, powerful, and have different battle tactics... and they are rare.

Here's what I would have done to make them near perfect

1. More variety- I agree with this, there could be more which would = better
2. Make them more rare- Don't fast travel and if you do, do it sparingly. If you fast travel, then the game will spawn dragons more frequently. I see a dragon every 15 hours or so and I RARELY see any
3. More powerful- This goes hand in hand with variety. There should be higher level dragons but overall I'd say they're difficult for my SpellSword.
4. Different battle tactics- I can agree to a point, I think it'd be cool if they'd pick my character up and drop him but there aren't many animations that they could've added that aren't already in the game (or maybe I'm not creative enough lol).
I added my input above!

Thats a matter of scaling.

But overall I agree. I think fighting dragons are really fun but a lot of the times they end up being comical because they will interrupt me in the middle of a quest line at the most ridiculous moments.

My friend and I the other day were talking about how to make dragon fights feel more EPIC and yes ,

4. Different battle tactics

Was basically what we came up with as well.

In my opinion dragons should be the most powerful creature on the game

go to mastery level and fight an ancient dragon, and ask for powerful, if you do while popping more than 5 health potions, then i guess its null and void. leave novice for gods sake...

I have never played on novice, or apprentice, I tried adept but it's too easy. I currently play on expert and dragons are not that tough for my level 29 mage..stop making assumptions that all I play Is novice

-Not levellled to the player.

Instead they went out of their way to make sure you could beat the main quest at level one.
Its as if no-one ever heard anything anyone had to say about Oblivion.

i only make the assumption becuz that generally is the problem people face, because they didnt realize there are different difficulty settings, however if your on expert, killing elder-ancient dragons without any problem or death, then you must be OP enough to need a mod of some sort if they don't grant you what you want.
personally id enjoy a variety of named dragons tbh, or a feign death dragon who drops down, acts dead for a few seconds then flies back up...

My point was that their dragons were way more creative, varied, powerful, and all...

But they aren't rare because Alduin is...well they're not rare. Not in Skyrim at least.

Install a mod called Deadly Dragons.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3829

It adds a few new types of dragons.
It makes dragons harder to fight.
They have more health (+100% or +150% or +200%).
It gives dragons armor, which mitigates your damage by 80%.
It gives dragons the appropriate resists. E.g. a fire dragon is 100% resistent to fire. An Ice dragon is 100% resistent to frost damage.
The dragons do more damage to you. And they use a larger variety of spells.
Also important, you can't stun dragons so easily anymore. They now fight back.

That totally changes the way you fight dragons.
Again, I am now scared when I see a dragon flying over my head.
Awesome mod, so far.

Check out this YouTube movie. A player encounters 2 dragons simultanously.
What would have been a 30 second fight in vanilla Skyrim changes into an epic battle.

So?
That's like comparing Madden and Gears of War. it doesn't fit in the same category. Dark souls is completely different in a lot of aspects from Skyrim. you can't really compare the two.

The dragons as a whole are still pretty amazing. I have yet to see another game produce dragons that have a mind of their own the way these do. Yes it can be a bit random at times but their unpredictable nature is something I really like. Plus they fly, land, take back off, attack from the air, attack from the ground. They are really varied in what they do. I have to agree though that they should be more powerful. I remember in my first playthrough when a bear, a regular, nearly brough down a dragon by itself. That shouldn't be possible. Dragons should be the most fearsome beast in the land by a long shot. Unfortunately for those of us on consoles, mods don't help.

Powerful?
The only one that made me nervous was the bridge red dragon,...the sewer dragon and Seath are both very easy.
Anyway, the only one that I consider a dragon is the red one...the other 2 are well....abominations

About Skyrim...I've tried Deadly Dragons and I found it...excessive...I play on Master and vanilla dragons are quite dangerous, expecially when you start to encounter Frost Dragons (and you're not a Nord...).
Elders are deadly and Ancient were nearly impossible for my character (lvl 48 assassin).
IMHO, dragons just need more damage resistance and a wider variety of shouts beside the basic breath/ball shouts...even a basic dragon should know how to use Unrelenting Force....

They are powerful, compared with Skyrim's non-modded dragons.

Since I have added a mod which disables level scaling, increases dragon spawnrate and adds dragon types such as the Daedric armoured "Necromanic Dragon lord" that can attack you right out of Helgen, I'd say my dragons are tough.

Then again, I have Chrysamere.

3. More powerful
4. Different battle tactics

More variety? I guess you mean more dragons? I guess that's a good idea.

Make them more rare? I think it's fine as it is now. Truthfully, I haven't encountered as many Dragons as I would have liked, but I think they're decent.

More powerful, yes I agree. But I've fought some dragons who were actually very hard.

Different battle tactics... I don't know what else you'd do.

Can people please stop comparing difficulty in any game to difficulty in Dark Souls?

Dark Souls is a game designed to punish its players for daring to challenge any beast they come across. It is inherently more difficult than anything else on the market, because people play it for the "fun" (I really don't get it) of repeatedly getting killed.

On topic: I do find that dragons get a bit easy after level 30, especially with any kind of magic resistance or absorption.
