dull old blade can barely cut butter

walking around Skyrim i cant count how many times a guard asks me to enchant his sword. im starting to think why can't this be a quest to do? when a guard asks you he should give you his sword for you to enchant you go and enchant it and he pays a set sum of gold for it depending on the quality of the enchantment. obviously a perked enchanter would get more then some one who only dabbles with the skill.

anyway point is i think Bethesda should add this as a radiant quest. thoughts?

I would have liked doing that, as well as giving guards dragonplate/scale armor when they ask for it.

Maybe it could be a random quest, but its just basically there to acknowledge your proficiency with enchantments.

Just in case nobody understands, the guards will only say that if your enchanting skill is over 30

the quest could also be to acknowledge your proficiency in the skill couldn't it? i mean they don't say it to people who don't use the tree so it could have roughly the same concept imo

aye, so someone over 30 could get a quest and some gold for completing it. would be a good addition imo

Yeah they acknowledge all of your skills in some way, if you ate level thirty you say I thought it was higher than that maybe I don't pay close enough attention.

It would certainly be a way to reward you for having your skills at a certain level.

And I should be able to brew up an ale for all the guards too.
Not that it's all that hard or anything.

come to think of it why cant you have a legitimate job in game either. for the RPers might like grabbing a job at a nearby inn or brewery or something like that. it seems like the only real job would be mining and i doubt all rpers want to be miners a job system would make this game a great deal more immersive then it already is.

I agree, having more jobs other than mining or chopping wood would be nice.

Like on the farms, you can work the mill but there is no profit for doing so.

I was puzzled by the lack of a radiant quest for this, too, so I decided to make my own. I pickpocketed the guard's sword and slipped him a necklace, forcing him to wear it using console commands so I'd be able to pick him out from the rest of his buddies when I returned, then scampered off and put a flame enchantment on the blade. Just to be flashy, hehe. I came back, spotting him easily due to the necklace, and pickpocketed the sword back onto him. I just wish I could've seen his face the next time he slashed at someone and they spontaneously burst into flames!

Instead of enchanting their blade I would rather conjure them a warm bed.

I'm actually fairly certain that before release it was said that getting certain skills high enough could lead to jobs, such as tutoring someone in school of magic, or teaching lockpicking, or yes even enchanting a sword. But, it seems like that didn't quite make it in.

Yea, it would also be cool if you could use skills to improve the guards stuff before, say, Ulfric invades Whiterun. If your skill was high enough Balgruuf the Greater would pay you to enchant some blades and armor or something. Then it would make the guards in the battle stronger as well. But after the battle, those particular guards would still be stronger so it could come back to nip your ass.

I would have loved to be able to enchant things for people for a price in general.
I befuddles my mind how you aren't given this as a radiant quest from the enchanting fellow in the College.

its a shame it didn't make it in i would have really loved to see that. would have made the game so much more "alive" i guess you could say.

It would be cool to get some real quests.

A jarl hears about what a good smith you are and offers you a contract to make __ amount of _____, _____ and _____. These would be special items that you can only make when you get the "schematics", but would be cooler looking, upgraded versions of the guard armor. When you complete the contract the Jarl pays you and certain guards are outfitted with this armor.

Something like that. Or multiple things like that.

an amazing idea. this would be fantastic were it in game. im sure modders could do this but were it in the vanilla game then im sure a lot more people would appreciate it considering there is a vast number of console players and all

I have 80 points in 2handed sword and 70ish on onehanded. My main weapon is the ebony warhammer and i only use dual wielding when assassinating someone, but i still level my onehanded.
Guard: You are like me huh, dont fancy those 2 handed steel etcetc..
