Dungeon delving in a dress

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 3:11 am

I wish you didn't automatically wear a dress as a female when you opt to go unarmored. Seems to me there should be a couple more practical options for the enterprising woman who wants to explore her local Nordic Barrow or Dwemer Ruin.

I don't mind skirts being an option, or even fairly prevalent for what amounts to a quasi-medieval setting. But why not make some "adventurers gear" or something that has a pants option for the ladies.

And yes, I realize this is silly. But so is tramping around in a cave with petticoats.

If we could have pants in the game, then this would not be a problem.

I miss pants.

Haha I think I have to agree. I can't think of any costume that has something your looking for. Perhaps something like what mages wear only with no enchants so you can put whatever you want on it. I think there's mods for that, probably.

I agree completely this is one of those little thing that really erks me why cant my female characters wear male clothing it's such a little thing and bothers me so much.
that and I don't like the fact that when you kill a guy and take his stuff his pants magically turn into a dress.

Doesn't the blacksmith outfit have pants? Or maybe the jester outfit.

I'd rather go into a dungeon wearing a dress than the latter. And I play a male.

There should be an achievement for completing a quest wearing that thing. Or better yet a DB assassination requiring it.

My male characters can't wear dresses either. So yeah - I can marry another bloke, but I'm screwed if I want to look pretty for him...

I remember doing the Dagon Shrine quest in Oblivion like that, just a black shirt, black pants, gold-trimmed shoes, and an Akaviri Katana. Was level 3 and still slaughtered all of the Mythic Dawn agents in the cave.

There are some clothes that have trousers on female characters, just not many. In fact I have one single set, after 300 hours, and can't even remember where I got them, except for the fact I took them off a guy with an Imperial name.

The Roughspun Tunic has pants for women, both version of the Miner's Clothes as well. There's also another set, just called "Clothes" which has pants and looks great on female characters. My Bosmer lady wears it a lot.

We need to bug someone who can make models to tweak the male outfits to fit on women (and possibly vice-versa). My character's been wearing the green Fine Clothes outfit, but looking at the version with trousers it would look just about perfect on her. I tried making a new item of it in the Creation Kit with the male model switched in for women, and it doesn't look bad but it could be better - and the opposite doesn't work at all.

Yeah, but I think people are looking for something that isn't quite so ratty. Well, I am anyway.

This is true, but I don't see mage's robes being practical either - though better than a dress, I'll give you that. In my mind, I'd like something akin to this, sans cloak:

Sounds like somebody's afraid their male followers have ulterior motives or something.

"No, boss, you go ahead and climb the ladder first. Ladies first, and all that. I'll go after you."

"Well aren't you the polite one. I guess chivalry isn't dead after all."

"...Yes. Chivalry. That's exactly what I was shooting for. After you, milady."

< much later >

"Well, I guess we're all done here. We might as well go out the same way we came in."

"Perhaps I should go down first and hold the ladder, milady. Might tip over or something."

"Well, aren't you just the best follower ever. You think of everything, and so selfless!"

"...Yes ma'am. Not thinking of myself. That wouldn't be proper."

Wow and I thought they were just being so very very polite! :touched:

Introduced in Oblivion, the universal outfit that converts to gender-appropriate attire was yet one facet of the "Dumbing Down" complaints the series endures to this day.

Maybe youll be a little more supportive the next time you see such a complaint.

Remember...they cry because they care!

To be fair I've never played as a female character because... I dunno. I'd only ever play as a female character in an mmo as I like to make "troll" characters.

As far as the new clothing system... on the long list of problems I think clothes should be on the bottom. To use clothing as an example for the game being dumbed down is just grasping at straws as clothing is so trivial.
