RP elementsmechanics you'd like to see in TES.

Doubtful we'll ever see anything patched into Skyrim as far as additional Roleplaying elements/mechanics. So for the next ES game, what type of roleplay additions would you like to see?

I'd like to see ways to inter the dead. Burying them or burning them would be interesting. If buried, maybe a small grave marker could be used. A pile of stones, a wooden cross, a specific type of flower that only appears as grave markers, swords stuck in the ground, etc..

For bodies left in the wild, it would be cool to see decay over time, or animals picking at them or carrying them away.

For Followers/Companions, a crypt or tomb designated for them would be nice. Maybe we could choose what kind of armor, clothing, and weaponry they're buried with.

Anyone else have similar things they'd like to see?

Alcohol and Narcotic long-term effects, Economy, Blood Stains fading in water/rain, Turing people as a Vampire, Running a bandit gang, Custom gear creation (Dyes, symbols, etc), write books and publish them, Stealing affects people realistically, Playable Dreams when sleeping, Climb trees for better hunting, Working disguises

Corpse decaying, mortuary, morticians, burials with a shovel (and deformable terrain), digging graves for jewelry, religious ceremonials and processions, celebrations.

Excellent! I like the idea of climbing trees for hunting. And grave robbing. More proper tombs and crypts that can be plundered would be nice.

I'd like to see customizable strongholds, like the ones added to Oblivion, but with more control over their appearance and functionality. Hiring on a gang of thieves, mercenaries, knights, whatever, would be awesome. Then we could station them at our stronghold and fortify it with traps and catapults and the like.

I'm not saying its a good idea. I'm just sayin'. =D

  • Brothels, prostitution, more things you can do with your wife;
  • Playing instruments, roleplaying a bard for money in taverns, at the jarl court, in public places
  • Joining a religious order and performing priest duties like in Gothic 2

Dirt building up over time on your cchars face would be neat. You could use water to get rid of it :) Oh, and barber/painter.

digging graves for jewelry
Not necessarily grave robbing. Even looting Draugr or the burial urns etc just seems wrong to me so I'd rather stay away from digging up graves to loot them, that's seriously screwed up stuff and I don't think it's right for Bethesda to encourage that sort of thinking.

Maybe digging in various spots for treasure that someone has hidden, It would give a use for that shovel you can pick up too. Maybe a long term illusion buff (1 hour or so real time) to detect treasure as a sparkly hue over the ground to indicate where you dig. That can be done outside or even some places in towns and dungeons. It could even be a quest: "My son buried my valuable amulet somewhere near the Skyforge, it was a family heirloom, can you find it for me?"

damn kids these days... oh, wait, i'm technically a kid (teenager, whatever)
i agree that grave robbing seems wrong. Draugr don't seem that off-limits to me, but graves should be sacred

i'd like a hardcoe Mode. perhaps a yellow bar for hunger, optional features like the Frostfall mod, fatigue (as in needing sleep, not TESIII/TESIV stamina bar name) etc

more stuff for marriage system. adoption would be nice, perhaps hug and kiss animations. a proper proposal, not just admitting that you like an NPC, and they immediately assume you want to get married. something that makes interactions between you and your wife/husband feel like love, not slavery.

a UI for PC that doesn't revolve around a controller. something like SkyUI. but if it was added, console players would complain that the PC gamers get a special UI (that is meant for a mouse and keyboard)

more "good" choices. i don't wanna kill Grelod for the Destroy the DB quest, and i wanna destroy the thieves guild

that damn Dawnguard DLC. hurry the [censored] up, bethesda.

pets. perhaps a cat that wanders around your house, and your spouse or housecarl play with it

if adoption was added, the kid should interact with the local children, and perhaps become an apprentice blacksmith, stable hand, hold a bake sale in the market? etc. give them a dagger or child-size bow to defend themselves, and train them how to use it (mom, i wasn't trying to shoot your best plates, i swear!)
also, pranks, and the ability to go on a pranking spree with them. water bombing guards, linen-wrapping market stalls, stink potions in the pub etc. then getting told off by your spouse (or not, depending on how fun they are)

proper jobs

hmm let me see how about after getting married and if the house is big enough for support id like an Adopt-a-kid function in the game I mean their is already an orphanage, or be able to have your own, dependent on if you and you spouse are of opposite six, and if they are able to produce kids.

Id like to be able to build my own stronghold with its own guards that can also be followers (they did this in morrowind, though i cant remember if you could get the guards to follow you)

maybe the ability to turn other people into vampires/werewolves

be the boss of your own bandit company and work to expand there territory by taking out rival bandit groups

customize your armor with like your own logo or symbol

be able to change your hair/facial hair/war paint IN GAME at like a barber shop in solitude or windhelm

How about linking sleep and stamina? The longer you go without sleeping, the longer that stamina takes to regenerate when used. It could simulate the fatigue your character is feeling.

When I buy an article of clothing, I should be able to change the colors of it to anything I want. They've been doing it in pro-wrestling games since the N64 days.

Agreed! Isn't it funny how little things like this that could be standard in every game...aren't?

our dovahkiins can slay dragons, kill hordes of undead, eat sweetrolls and survive magical eplosions, yet he/she cannot pour some dye on a shirt

Or remove a strap from 1 chest piece and stitch it to a different one?

By that logic, shouldn't the option to do so many things be restricted?
It seems wrong to me to walk into a city and slaughter everyone inside, or to steal gold coins from a beggar, but that doesn't mean I don't think it should be in the game.

working disguises would be epic. imagine sneaking into a bandit camp dressed as one of those bandits! id also like eating, sleeping, resting, etc, to have more of an affect (not sure how tho). narcotics (ie skooma) would be cool. leading a faction more realistically (assigning tasks, managing facilities, etc).... just some thoughts

Yes this instead of just a quest marker. Also the ability to influence the economy and buy a plot of land to build a house on. The house would then take anywhere from an in game month to a year depending on the size and amount of builders you hire.

i just want the animations for the simple everyday things you can do in the game, like eating, drinking, sleeping, etc. i wanna role play a sort of hardcoe mode where i eat everyday, but with no animations there is just incentive. the ablility to change somebody into a vampire would be cool too
