Emperor Dovakiin

Is it impossible to think the next game will pick up exactly where Skyrim left off? Sort of Biowareish. The story has been building to a head and it seems we are at the peak of that and starting over some extended time later like past games doesn't make sense.

Would it really cause that much of an up roar if they decided some things were canon regardless of what we actually did? In a game that can be played without even doing the main quest we just have to allow for Bethesda to say some things occurred regardless of our choices, so why not just pickup right where Skyrim left off? Maybe even still playing as the Dovakiin.

I don't particularly like the idea of becoming emperor. My character at the moment (an Argonian named Arrows-In-The-Heart) is doing all the Daedric quests before starting the main story (I've completed the Main Quest twice already.) I want my Argonian to become a God in his own right with the help of Azura, Meridia and Peryite. I've yet to decide what will happen to him after Skyrim but I will most likely play as him again in the next Elder Scrolls game.

If the war with the Dominion is resolved in a mere 20-hour DLC instead of getting the full game it deserves, I'll be sorely disappointed.

I doubt it please do not give me a spoiler I have not played the main quest yet.
I expect some other fantastical event to occur like in any other Elder Scrolls game.

*SPOILER - So, the person who kills the emperor will become the next one? Sounds "conspiracious"(I've created a new word I guess...)

No I was asking for you not to post a spoiler.
I just thing becoming emperor would be a little much, I like the line of leaders, if somebody was named emperor in a game the lore would say the CoC ruled for this long or that long, or Nerevar held the throne. You would be limited in making a story on what happened to your character.

Some good counter arguments have been made. Though I still think its highly unlikely it would ever happen (for instance, how would a book in the future describe the emperor if it could be any race/gender). It is still interesting nonetheless and will most likely not stop you from adventuring. THe story, however, does point to the Dovahkiin having a much bigger destiny. When the Greybeards shout at you they are calling you "Ysmir. dragon of the North" The same name as Tiber Septim, Paarthanax tell the player after defeating Alduin that he/she has much more to write on fabric of time or something like that.

I'd prefer the whole Empire vs Thalmor thing becomes the central theme of TES VI.

I will kiss Todd Howard if we get an elven themed TES in Valenwood or the Summerset Isles.
