Ok, I'll add that too.

EDIT: Added Symphony Of Violence, Ambient Town Sounds, Lights Out and Get Wet. I still need to look at Alive Waters, and search around for some info/similar mods before posting anything about that.

I was thinking about adding corepc's stuff as well as alive waters but I need to do more research into that.

Nice List by the Way thank for environment list..

alivewater's is great to add to list, since it does more than just add fish, it adds new underwater grass, sunken ships, etc..

Keep up the list

I think you got all the current and most up to date mods or most popular ones (NE, AWS,etc)..

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7703

A great mod for atmosphere, it adds a whole host of new ambient sounds to the environment around you depending on your location. It will add the sound of birds while you walk through the forest, crumbling stonework as you explore ruins and the sound of howling and groaning monsters from below when you delve into dungeons. It has http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12339 to make it work with other mods.

If you get this, also be sure to grab the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19487 for it.

I don't know why, but the original AO file seems to have been corrupted. I have downloaded twice, but could never extract the file contents.

The patches worked fine, though.

Just wanted to say thanks.
Very, very informative article. Concise, well researched, notes on advantages, disadvantages and compatibility notes. I learned _a lot_ about the various options that are out there, and how they play together. I think this is a "must read" for anyone who wants to make his Oblivion environment more immersive.

Anyway not to let this drown in the flood of new threads?

Buncha thanks for writing this! :)

XtremeRampage: It's packaged in the not-very-popular .ace compression system. It uncompressed fine for me though. Try using another decompressor.

AliveWaters added.

Awesome list--thanks for compiling it!

Every time I think I've found all the mods I need, someone lists some more ...

So, if all I am interested in is toning down the HDR daytime brightness and making interiors not so dark during the day, which weather mod should I go with that will be minimally intrusive?

[edit]
Nevermind, I just tried All Natural and it got rid of the "nuclear daylight" effect. But it suuuuure rains -a lot-.

Would Dynamic Temperature Oblivion qualify for inclusion on this list?

Hmm, probably not, i'd say. It doesn't actually affect the game AFAIK, it acts more as a framework ATM that others can get the temperature from, am I right? As in, it doesn't give any effects, it just determines what the temperature is. If mods pop up that use it however (which would be a great idea, a common temperature source mod), then I could add those to the list as they would be appropriate.

It'll be interesting what people can get working with it though, and I'll be looking forward to the GetRegion revision of it, it means that your regions will tie in with the map and everything - very neat!

Wow, so many choices since my last foray into Oblivion. Does Phinix Waterfix change SI water as well? Would Enhanced Water be my best bet for consistent changes to Cyrodiil/SI? I'm intending to pair it up with Enhanced Weather and CorePC's Vibrant textures if that makes a difference (previously I used an AN/NE setup but I think it was a bit too script intensive).

Enhanced Water is the best one, not only for consistency between Cyrodiil and SI but because Enhanced Water actually makes the water realistic. I'll explain. All the other water mods I've tried (Phinix included) make the water beautiful, the problem here is that not all water is pretty. I don't want to see light blue, crystal water when I'm passing by a swamp and I don't want my water to be seafoam green at night time when it's pitch black (I use Enhanced Nights from EW). Most water mods don't address these issue so your left only with "pretty" water. I highly recommend Enhanced Water and the SI addon for the most realism.

Why thank you, it means a lot, coming from the maker of the second biggest (after Buddah?) mod list. :D

And some updates:

Added Enhanced Water HDMI, corrected spelling.

I'm tempted to add a mod load order utilities bit at the bottom explaining about OBMM, WB and BOSS, but I'm not sure. What do you readers think?

Heya,

Small thing but I think regarding the Enhanced Water SI addon, it is only HD. There is no ND version, sadly. Your guide says there are both. I wish there was a ND version.

That's what I thought, then I saw a ND plugin in BOSS for it - BOSS must be wrong.

I'll change that now, and I've just updated BOSS with the fix.

Yes but I don't remember what most of them actually do! ;p

[EDIT: just read Better Bell Sounds is in MIS so ignore this line!]

Also, is there a recommended interior lighting & weather synchronising system compatible with EW? Couldn't see anything that fulfilled that role that was more complex than Lights Out.

I just use Real Lights (lighting) and Storms and Sounds (sounds), both are compatible, and AFAIK EW doesn't have any problems with weather sync.

Updates:

- Removed Enhanced Weather SI Only, as I've discontinued it in anticipation of standalone SI changes in the next version of Enhanced Weather.
- Removed Fish!, as it was discontinued after its author left the community.
- Some minor edits.

I have picked up Fish! since it was pulled and I was going to do a MMM version..But instead I will be releasing under a different name with alot of changes..

after MMM has gone final, that will be my next creature project..CyrodiilWaterLife..
