Ever restarted because of race looks other insignificant rea

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 6:24 am

See my sig. That is my 3945822984th character (number may be slightly inflated). His build is perfection as far as my having fun in combat, as is the character concept. I'm enjoying him tremendously. However, when I created him, I chose Breton due to the magic resistance trait which would stack nicely with the alteration perk. And that has been gnawing away at my conscience because for pure RP I should have made an Imperial. And so now, at level 14, I'm thinking of restarting for the 3945822985th time, to the exact same build, same concept, but different race and RP background.

I think I need help. We need to start a chronic restarter's support group or something.

I've restarted for many stupid, small reasons. Looks I can always change since I'm on PC though.

I can't seem to hang on to a non-human character for more than 10 levels, doesn't feel right. I gave up on my orc a while ago, made an altmer sneak mage which is now 50+, which I made look as human as possible ha.

But it removes certain racial traits, such as Breton's magic resistance. And that's grounds for a restart! :P

A few times because of perks. Having a hard time just wanting to turn on the game, haven't finished thief, assassin, bards, war or mages quest to boot.

No. If I've made a mistake in some way, I 'recalibrate' my expectations for my playthrough and decide on a different route, one that's more in line with whatever race/trait/mistake/perk/whatever is bugging me.

Damn. Made a really good looking imperial dude. He looked cool, but was so. Damn. Short.

Once again, a nord playthrough. Sigh

Nah, you just have to restart the game after doing it.

How ya do that on pc?

Open the console(tilde key by default) and enter "showracemenu" with no quotes.

I rectified that mistake long ago.

i liked how back then in oblivion no one commented on your race. back in oblivion there wasn't any master race, you could find khajiits as much as you could find redguards. however, in skyrim they had to change that and make it full of racist nords who make a comment about your race every 5 seconds.

There are commands to add racial traits back so you don't have to restart.

I am actually about the restart, because despite the fact my current char is rocketing through life on a wave of his own awesomeness... I don't like his name. Mind you, I'm going to make effectively the same character (Except I'm going to try All magic this time around, no Melee combat for me!), but his name has bugged me for way too long.

...Also I want to try DiD on this playthrough, on my new computer.

No I have not, I play with the character I make. I would also never delete a character based on looks. I make my character how I look during character creation anyways.

I have one character, never thought about restarting, but I had her planned since the perk trees started coming out months ago. A little forethought goes a long way. Looks? She's an Altmer, you didn't expect her to look beautiful to human eyes, did you?

I'm level 39 and I'm <-this-> close to starting a new character because there are so many icons the map that are gray that I've walked by but not cleared and I'm confused.

If you are on PC , you could just open the console and type "showracemenu" , for changing the appearance of your char , would have saved you quite some time

Knowing perk names is one thing, knowing the mechanics behind them and how they work "in the game" is something completely different.

The furthest I've managed thus far is retrieving the horn of whoever and I've never done the civil war thing either. I've had the game since day 1 and i always get bored once my toon gets stronger. Yeah, i could not just level up, but it's even more boring staying at level one or some other ridiculously low level for the entire game. The speed at which you level up is absurdly fast and needs sorted.

They also need to give the player another opportunity to tinker with their character before leaving the first cave. Your character can look fine in the creation menus, but rather lame in game.
