Exactly which quest, by name, starts the Dragons up.

What about just not going to see the Greybeards - does that prevent them from spawning?

IF YOU FIGHT MIRMULNIR, YOU WILL GET RANDOM DRAGONS AND DRAGONWALL DRAGONS.

I don't know how much clearer I can make this. :)

The trick Ingold mentioned works, too... but you will still have dragonwall dragons, as he reminded us.

Half the point of the game is being a dragon slaying badass :) If it's too hard on Master, turn down the difficulty.

Haha, the wall always seems to win, doesn't it?

:wallbash:

^^^ That looks like it's going to hurt after a while...

Sometimes dragons are more of an annoyance than anything else; it's not always just about the difficulty. I try to sneak past them myself sometimes if I'm on a quest I really want to finish.

I tend to go with not handing over the dragonstone. Farangar still talks about it, but I just ignore that choice and can still trade with him. If i don't talk to him, he doesn't talk to me, so the enchanting table is fine. The only downside is that some iijit in Bethesda gave the stone a weight of 25. Changing that is number one on my list for the CK...

The Dragonstone doesn't really weigh anything, even though it says "25". :)

You can also temporarily stop the random dragons from appearing by starting the next quest and not completing it.

Spoiler
When you talk to Delphine and get A Blade In The Dark, simply don't meet up with her at Kynesgrove. You will still run into dragons at dragon walls, but no random dragons will appear.

I killed the dragon at West Tower at level 15 then paused the randoms so I could run all over Skyrim from levels 15-46 without the townspeople getting killed off by random dragon spawns. I've run into a few dragons, but in every case I was intentionally going to a dragonwall to pick up another word. This is my third play through, and I'm enjoying the relatively dragon-free game.

I can confirm this. I intend to stop there for quite a while on my next character. This has the benefit of allowing you to learn all of the Unrelenting Force shout (which I still am not tired of) but will shut off almost all dragons like mentionned.

I wasn't sure about this, so I handed it over. You are correct. Which leaves me wondering why the game shows a weight?
