The same reason there are seeming unmutated humans around. Just being around radiation doesn't turn you into a twisted monster. That doesn't mean you haven't mutated at all from examples 200 years ago. Just ask the Enclave about that.

Why do we see so many 'normal' dogs and not other animals? For whatever reasons, dogs and humanity have had a bond that goes back to our pre-history. So they have something of a protected status, living alongside humans. Feral dogs work well in packs so can fend off attackers. Less adept animals would have been hunted out after the war, when food was scarce for the wildlife (and humans outside of shelters).

yes unfortunately the Great Cat Pogrom of 2079 was a black mark on the nation's history

perhaps this is why there are now Rodents of Unusual Size

wouldn't you need coins to be able to extract a soda from a machine? also, wouldn't the machine need electricity in order to release the drink?

I think of it as you blow the lock off and get your pop. The old pop machines used to use regular padlocks if they were outside, not the screwtype lock you see on the front.

I always wonder who lights all of the fires in all of the caves you visit? Or what is burning in those barrels that stays so bright, uniform and burn forever?

Also, now that I can drink from most water without radiation, why don't I get dysentary?

Nice. I was thinking robots, myself.

Some encounters would have been welcome.

I just had a thought while getting ready for work--

Those invisible walls everyone loves so much?
Malfunctioning missle defense system.

I was thinking more that it was a giant bubble that Mr. House placed around the NV area, a la Simpsons Movie style

Why dont people fix up their towns? Seriously walls falling down in Primm, you would think they would want to fix that up.
How can i drink 18 beers, 2 bottle of vodka, take 2 hits of jet and then drink some Absinthe and still be coherent?

How can a fungus virus re-animate people?

Astoundingly enough, that's one of the most scientifically plausible ideas in the series, though that's not saying much. There's actually a fungus in real life that zombifies ants; the one in New Vegas is just that taken to the extreme. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=fungus-makes-zombie-ants

Too sassy, You're... To sassy for your smilies, To sassy for the smilies, So sassy...

Again, no idea whether it's an insult or if it's a compliment. (Damn you first language!)

You can pick and sell things like toasters, shot glasses, sporks (of all things), dinner plates etc. Even things like tweezers that you can barely see in game. But why can't you pick up some item like fans, telephones, fire extinguishers, or those little green hula girls. I want on of those in my room at Novac sitting next to Teddy and Dino.

Yeah, you got me on that one. That's got to go under 'game convention'.
I think the devs are teasing us with the hula girls at this point.

? Toxiplasma gondii causes infected rodents to specifically lose their inborn aversion to cat pheromones. This behavior is beneficial to toxiplasma, because it sixually reproduces in cats that have eaten infected mice and rats (original article). Infected cats in turn spread toxiplasma through their droppings. People infected with toxiplasma also exhibit behavioral changes, particularly a decrease in "novelty seeking". It's been proposed that toxiplasma infection has actually changed human culture, since there is a correlation between countries with a high rate of toxiplasma infection and increased neuroticism, uncertainty avoidance, and "masculine" six roles.
