Extra Quest Chain Rumor..?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 4:12 am

Before you read any further, this could easily just be a troll, and probably is. Don't get pissed at me because other people find it fun to lie online.
Okay so I got this from what seemed to be a less than legitimate source on the internet. It hints at a secret quest-line hidden in Skyrim, and the poster claims to be a member of Bethesda's Staff. Now I know, this is probably fake, but I'm curious if anyone else has heard about this, because if this is something that has been cycling around a bit it might be more than just a joke.
To quote the post, this much was said..

"There is a series of well hidden quests in Skyrim that will allow you to access the "area" that the Dwemer are currently very much alive within. So far, according to hidden Steam achievements, only 2 people worldwide have discovered the quest chain. No one has completed it yet. It is unlikely that the people who have discovered it have even realized it, as I haven't seen any public discussion about the quest chain yet.
The quest chain is not expounded upon in the official strategy guide.
The quest chain is not randomized; it is accessed via a very specific set of player actions.
The quest chain will not begin until you've completed a more well-known quest chain.
The quest chain requires that two specific weapons be upgraded to their maximum.
The quest chain features a sound puzzle. You won't even be aware of the puzzle's existence if your sound is muted. This may or may not be the reason why so few people have discovered the quest chain.
We intentionally left this quest chain out of the official strategy guide in order to encourage old school word of mouth "secrets".
This is why we've delayed the Creation Kit."

Thoughts?

In the thread on the top of the general discussion page (this one obviously :P) it says that the creation kit will have a suprise in it :o

I doubt this is true though, Beth wouldn't want people to miss out on a quest that would be DLC worthy :P

I wouldn't say it would be DLC worthy... a bunch of pre-requisites, some well hidden notes and one small-medium dungeon with a Dwemer NPC at the end wouldn't be that difficult to make. Most of the assets could be reused from the rest of the game. Hell, the Dwemer could even be wearing full armor, which would rid them of the need to model a Dwemer.

It's proven false by anyone who knows anything about the lore. The dwemer are gone from the mortal plane. It's not a physical matter.

Fair enough. Glad to have a definitive answer.

Well, you could get a couple of long lost dwemers, or maybe some of them have returned. You had one in MW, bro.

He was not on the mortal plane when the event happened, meaning Oblivion or Aetherius, for example. He was in the outer realms. There are no dwemer hiding in the bottom of caves, for example.

It really can't, that's why the Dwemer disappearance is so mysterious. We have no concrete fact on why they just ceased to exist, there could very well be a group still left that has yet to be discovered.

I am pretty confident that is just utterly bogus - the hidden questline part, the dwemer popping up and going "oh, we just ran out to buy some cookies! Were we gone long", the nebulous "you won't get this soooper secret quest until you have completed some soooper secret actions elsewhere in the game", a vague "sound" puzzle, oops, you missed it you had your sound muted or something... Really folks - did people really buy into that?

Shenanigans.

Exactly. He came back and all the dwemer were gone. He tells you this. He say he was in the outer realms when it happened. It says the great armies of dwemer facing the chimer vanished before the eyes of the chimer as Kagrenac acted upon the heart.

No. The Dwemer aren't real, either.

They were a myth to make the Tribunal seem cooler.

Yes, but that one WAS NOT in the mortal plane when all the dwemer left. He came back and looked for them, got corprus, and now is immortal and remains in the corprusarium (sp?)

He is the only known one that did so.

this has all the makings of an urban legend of zelda. 99% chance its fake. everything with prerequisites like "2 weapons fully upgraded" always is.

They were very real and there is a book that at least gives you the closest hint to what happened to the dwarves.

It's coming from /v/, probably OP is just spreading mayhem.

Regarding Dwemers, I meant that they could appear somewhere becoz surprise, I bet they'll appear in future TES games at some point.

The way I interpreted it was that you had to be finished the main quest and have some specific items with you, maybe.. named weapons that otherwise have no purpose?
And as for the sound puzzle, I personally thought of something along the lines of Myst's main "Selentic Age" puzzle. I could easily see something like that going on in a Dwemer ruin.

Still, I understand why you guys assume it to be a hoax, it didn't seem too legit, but I thought I'd ask around anyways.
