Seriously, if I see one more person refer to their save files as "corrupted," I am going to rage and destroy the internet. The entire thing, because this is just stupid. There's nothing wrong with the save file, there's something wrong with the game preventing it from loading some of the data that's in it. The game will be fixed, your save files will work, and you can all stop crying your sissy internet tears.
Don't get me wrong - the first time this happened to me, I was pissed, and I probably put about two hours into trying to troubleshoot it to figure out what was causing the problem. Upon discovering that it was, in fact, a systems bug, and not something I could do anything about, I put the game down for a while and went and did something else. I have had my copy on preorder since January, and couldn't wait to pick it up, but - surprise! There are problems with a new release. Since I am apparently the only one here with any semblance of something else to do with my time, let me share my thoughts.
The game is glitchy. We saw what Fallout 3 was like on release, and it wasn't pretty; this game is based on the same engine, I'm not really surprised to see things cropping up here and there. Yes, in its current state, I would say that the main questline on the 360 is broken to the point of being unplayable. However, I'm sure you can find better things to do with your time while you wait for a patch than yell and cry on the internet that Bethesda has ripped you off, and released something that is "defective". If you're really that pissed about it, go return it.
Are you still here? Then I'm guessing you haven't returned it yet. That probably means that you're just grumpy because you can't play. We all are. Throwing around insults about the quality of Bethesda's publishing operation and Obsidian's developing operation isn't going to make them want to fix it any faster, is it? Would you be more or less inclined to help someone who's screaming in your face and being SUPER obnoxious about it? I get this a lot in my job, and I am going to say that it would make me MUCH less inclined to find a solution for you.
Personally, I'm still here because I want to play the game. I think that, despite the bugs that exist in v1.0, it is still an excellent piece of design and engineering work. The systems upgrades since Fallout 3 in terms of gameplay mechanics, in my opinion, are absolutely terrific, and the setting and plot work they've put into the game is absolutely top-notch. Instead of focusing on all the negatives - and there are bound to be some in an undertaking this large - why don't you focus on the positives and the fun that you've had in the first 5-10 hours of the game instead of deciding that you're not going to have fun with it? Again, I assume that if you're still here (and you haven't just returned it yet) that you're waiting for a patch, and the quality of the time spent waiting is going to be determined entirely by what you choose to do with it. If you sit here and [censored], it's going to svck, and it's not just going to svck for you, but it's going to svck for everyone else that has to read your constant sniveling on this board while looking for real information.
I agree that Bethesda and Obsidian should probably be a little more forthcoming with information regarding their plans for this. To say that a "small group of users" are experiencing some problems with DLC and save files is grossly unfair - I think it's pretty much all of us, depending on how we played out the main storyline. There's a process to this, though, and they have to follow it even if they want to get it out as fast as possible to fix our issues. Personally, I'd like to think that they want to help us out rather than leave us to suffer. I assume they take pride in their work, and want people to enjoy it as much as they did - wouldn't you? So, let's assume, for the time being, that Obsidian are just working hard to make sure that it gets fixed right, the first time, for all of us.
First off the issue with the save file bs is something that would prevent a game from going to print by itself.
Second they have not confirmed that your *now useless* saves will be usable after they patch.
Third FO3 had no where near this amount of game breaking bugs in at launch, i played it endlessly and it rarley froze (the only real bug i encountered, but thats a prob with the engine, same thing happens in ES4)
I have tried numerous times to play this game even going so far as to wipe my HDD still the same issue. Four different attempts to play the game from the begining always ends in all of my saves becoming useless. I just love the same old "just revert to an older save" tip its pointless when all of your saves are useless. I am quite sick of this [censored], returning game tommorow.
Also, i wont be buying anything that obsidian has its name attached to again, not after this third failure. (kotor2 and Alpha protocal being the first 2)
By the way if anyone wants some usefull info, DO NOT BUY THE GAME its a waste of your money and your time.
Edited to finish half-thoughts >.>
