i was saying that fallout, even in its own lore, describes the rest of the world too, an anachronistic version of the future had a nculear WW happened shortly after WW2,
however due to time, money and manpower limitations the main story you can play so far restricts itself on some very small areas, taking that result, the small areas, as the only holy grail of fallout lore would be nonsense as there is a whole lot more to the story than those 5 games or so could under any circumstance depict...
the world is vast in comparision and the story extends itself around the globe, and even into outer space (enclave, aliens)
so why should modders listen to discouraging talk by some narrow minded "der bauer isst nur was er kennt" people and not try to fill out the blanks and questions the story opens up? what happened in china? the middle east? europe? russia? africa? etc etc...
what we have seen so far are only small conflicts of utterly unimportance as it seems, the dozens of gecks started in prior fallouts for example didnt seem to even have had a real impact inside the states...
sure it makes for good gameplay and its still exciting

but just because that is it doesnt mean there is not more to the whole thing, one could think that for example "the commonwealth" are remnants of the canadians who clever as they are simply hid whilst the us got pwned and bombed back into a savage stoneage, similiar to the prior mentioned movie "doomsday", maybe the states are just a large ghetto of savages and the rest of the world strives and prospers in harmony now that the nastiest elements of world domination killed each other off... working on "real" problems...
well whatever haha, what i simply want to say is that all this "oh the lore the lore the lore" chit chat is pointless as only very few standards for fallout lore actually exist and furthermore do i want to express my dislike about people who want to dictate other people their ideology of a fictional lore they seemingly dont even grasp themselves...
btw at echo, you should also have highlighted "influenced" ,thats quite an important word here

we didnt have nuclear powered cars in the 50ties... mmh well... actually we had haha >.<
and in regards to "lurking fear of nuclear anihilation"... check some post war japanese artforms

they are the only ons who lived through that [censored] and their art is heavily influenced by that, all those robot, tentacle things... america was a joke vs that, more like a media frenzy than real fear
or 1920ties continental european art, expressionism and so on, WW1 was really so bat[censored] insane that people created these things to coop with the devastation...
what i want to say with that is that america is probably one of the worst theatres for this kind of scenario as it never really had to suffer from anything equal except its "tiny" (in comparision) civil war maybe, its only fear that builds the basis for that not experience, however i dont wanna say, under no circumstances, that the game should not be centered around the us, one plus point is the cultural diversity of the US since it was founded which gives the game a nice and versatile scenario/environment...
anyway i just wanted to use this point to improve my other points haha :spotted owl:
