Is Fallout 3 New Vegas (PS3) too buggy to be worth buying?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:52 pm

I liked Fallout 3 was thinking about getting New Vegas too. But then I read that the game is broken and that there don't seem like another patch is coming. Is it still worth buying or is it too buggy?

I have a Xbox360 and it has bugs in it sometimes which saddens me that they didnt fix stuff. I think the bugs are worse than 3 sometimes because they come alot more often. I dont know how good the game would be on the PS3 but i would download it to your hard drive(thats what i did and had less of these problems also runs a little quicker).

Why not try rent/borrow it? The game will be prone to bugs and freezes, we've all had them, some of us had them worst. If you do decide to get it, just save thoroughly.

I'm on Xbox too, but I got through the game okay, nothing major.

In a (two) word(s)...

Worth Buying: YES
too buggy: NO

EDIT
Just realized that it was a compound question. Answer modified accordingly.

It seems the game hates certain people and loves others. I have yet to see a bug other than some problems with Manti and Geckos.

Yes it's very buggy, but still fun to play if you are a fan of the series. You should buy it and support the company, so they can invest more into play testing and de-bugging future games! :brokencomputer:

I've played all the Fallout games and this one is by far the buggiest. It has gotten to the point where it freezes or crashes completely every hour. I love the game but I have gotten to the point where it's just to frustrating to play anymore. Do I think it's worth buying, if you liked Fallout 3 i'd say yes, but I suggest you wait for a sale or until they come out with a final patch, because your love for the game may turn to hate or frustration.

I play on PS3 for many hours at a time, spending entire nights in marathon sessions, pissing off everyone in the house as i just get to into it and start yelling with excitment on just how much i love the game. I have crashed around 15-20 times over my over 550 hours playing this game with about 5 playthroughs so far.

I bought my copy mid December and have yet to experience any freeze/lock out or crash. I guess i got a copy with all the new fixes. Even the loading times are pretty quick !

And for the 200 hours I put on this game I only crashed twice. I crashed more in Fallout 2 and 3.

I havent ran into too many bugs myself, but the freezing is definately a problem more so in the late game when the save files are bigger. Just dont play for longer then one to two hours at a time and you should be fine.

It's Fallout: New Vegas not Fallout 3: New Vegas. Sorry it's just bugs me when people do that.

Despite the bugs (freeze ups) I like the game. It is worth the purchase. To reduce problems check out the PS3 FONV section.

If you play non-stop every day, you'll experience some freezes and crashes (especially on PS3) but if not, you'll be fine. I used to suffer playin with crashes every 15 hours. But since I finished the game, I don't play too much anymore. I'm starting to get bored unintrested with Fallout because I've beat every game except Tactics. HURRY, UP, AMAZON!

Dont listen to anyone else. They just want you to buy the product. I used to own the PS3 version. I platinum-ed it buts about it. I sold it & got it for PC. TRUST ME; it runs 10x better on the PC then PS3. With PS3 it lags every few seconds. As in frame rate & the graphics are horrible compared to PC version. My game runs at Medium resolution. There are 4 types:low, medium, high & ultra high. My game is only medium but the graphics are better. Get it for PS3 if your computer isn't good otherwise. HELL NO! :obliviongate:

Seriously? I think there is more then enough evidence that the PS3 version of the game is the worst version.. I don't make things up. Many of my friends on the PS3 version complain about the game crashing.

lol Ps3 version better then the Alienware computer. NOW THAT IS RUDE.

Wow, hostile, instructing someone to ignore others IS rude, my experience with the PS3 version working satisfactorilly is not rude, please dont jump to silly conclusions.

Not anymore : /

I don't know if it's just me but the latest patch has made my game unplayable. Before I got two freezes since release, less than Black Ops, MAG, FFXIII even, all of which clocked far less hours. Since the patch, two days ago? It freezes after less than twenty minutes of gameplay, sometimes not even a few seconds. The sound is bugging out, with only my gunfire making a noise. Random quests have been failing for no understandable reason and so on.

It's completely unplayable, I'd need a dozen saves because sometimes it will freeze after a save no matter what I do, even then I'd only be able to play for small increments.

Oh and after every freeze, hard reset because it freezes the whole system, not just the game.

So get it, but don't download the patch. Ever.

New Vegas PS3 is weird.

The game will change between wanting to freeze non-stop, and running smoother then a babies bottom.

I'm on PS3 and have been playing since the day of release, and haven't encountered one bug, crash, or freeze. I know this is almost the opposite of many other players experiences but it's true for me.
