everything works like a charm again. all my mods and everything
Okay, so I've been running NV with no probs up until now and of course, the new patch caused the game to refuse to start. Running with a Radeon 5850 in Vista. Anyways, after much frustration, here's what I did to get it going again:
1. I deleted the two .ini files in my documents/mygames/fallout NV
2. Edited the default.ini in the MAIN Fallout NV folder to use: SArchiveList=Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa, AII-FNV!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa -- just as some previous posters suggested.
3. Lastly, ran the "file verification" via Steam which found a few files missing and updated them accordingly.
4. Ran the game and it booted right up with archiveinvalidationinvalidated.bsa (or AII-FNV.bsa) and all of my mods, exactly as they were before the new patch.
5. Turn off Steam Auto-Updates.

Anyways, I hope this helps ppl still experiencing recurring problems with the launch of their game!

In the meantime, it's back to the Wasteland for me.
