I just want the game to natively support 5760x1080 with proper menus. (Without me having to use a 3rd party patch from WSGF)

That's exactly what the PS3 (and xbox 360) does, it upscales 720p images to higher resolutions. Which means it still renders the image on a 720 resolution.

Now I don't have the game for either of the consoles, but I imagine that if it says 1080i on the back then it means that the game supports a 1080i resolution mode, it doesn't necessarily mean that the game is always on 1080i, it probably depends on your TV or monitor.

But like I said, I don't own the console version of the game so I don't know.

You should also know that not all monitors support interlaced display modes, which would certainly explain why you can play the game on 720p but not 1080i.

RIGHT. It should support 1080i mode because that is on the back of the box. My box actually lists 1080i as the native/main resolution which really surprised me. My TV only supports 480i, 480p and 1080i so...I get 480p with the menus cut off. :/

Who cares about 1080p or 720p. You got a color TV right? What else do you need?

It in a known problem (hardware limitation). If the PS3 detects that the TV is incapable of running 720p then it will downscale to 480p instead of up-converting to 1080i. If the TV did support 720p then you could up-convert it to 1080i, but otherwise you cannot.

Time to upgrade your CRT .

I already explained that the PS3 doesn't actually upscale. (1080i is actually DOWNSCALED from 720p) 1080i is really 540px2

But PS3 doesnt even render in 1080i. It renders in 960x1080i then interlaces that signal.

If a CRT 1080i is the only HDTV you have, I guess that matters but those have been effectively phased out.

Uncharted has MORE detail at 720p than the 960x1080i fake 1080 render it does, the Naughty Dog devs said so themselves and explained exactly why
