Has anybody actually WALKED, not ran, walked from one city to another? That would to take epic amounts of patience

there have been many people who have done "no fast travel" playthroughs of the game.

and yes, it would take an epic amount of patience.

I can't help but fast travel, I know the game is so much better without it, I'm just too lazy -_-

I never Fast Travel and never use the carts...but I don't walk either.
I run with the occasional sprint.

I've tried doing the no fast travel but I don't like to walk somewhere and then have to turn around and walk back and then turn around and walk back to the other place again. I usually start from a town or something I don't normally fast travel to the closest place to where I'm headed. I fast travel from town to town kinda like using a carriage but don't have to pay for it.

I make a trek from Riften to Markarth every so often just because.
Also not fast traveling makes you realize how often dragon attacks occur when you do fast travel.

I do this regularly in Fallout, and sometimes in Skyrim. I find it difficult, however, to do on a regular basis in TES.

My longest play in New Vegas was 215 hours from playing like this, but was cut short due to increasingly frequent CTD's, otherwise I could've squeezed out an extra 10-15 hours there.

I haven't seen the need to avoid it.

For an instant I wondered how can you do that in Fallout? But I get it now.

In previous games I would basically fast travel if the option was there, now on the other hand I like to take the scenic route hunt some deer, kill some wolves, piss off some giants, etc before I know it an 7 minute walk becomes a 40 minute hunting trip thats really the beauty of not fast traveling and it applies to fallout too (at least for me) minus the deer, wolves and giants

I always used fast travel on fallout 3, it was a nightmare otherwise with the metro tunnels -_-

I've walked from Riverwood to Whiterun because I was over-encumbered, and moving all of my stuff from Gerdur's house to Breezehome. Luckily the distance wasn't that long or I would have made multiple trips.

I don't fast travel, as I like to see the scenery, collect alchemical ingredients, and fight any assassins/thieves/bandits/dragons that would foolishly stand in my way. It all adds to the immersion.

It's such a bad habit though, I'll invest in a horse and trot along..

It doesn't take as long as you'd think, though after over 1,000 hours in game you stop wanting to walk everywhere.

Hopefully the DLC brings some fresh encounters, the hostile type and more interesting quest type ones too. The default random encounters are pretty good but it's not too long before they're too familiar, which imo is half the fun of walking from place to place.

Really hope Beth add a good amount of random encounter quests, something mod's haven't so much covered. Plenty of awesome creature mods but yearning for some story type encounters, maybe even some full on quests triggered from a random encounter ? Would be a nice reward for walking about.

I agree. Plus it would be better for console players like me who can't use mods & steam.

I've played well over 1000 hours in fallout since it was released, and still walk everywhere...with the occasional running when it makes sense.

I prefer no fast travel just because of all the encounters.I haven't met the old Orc yet but I have met the Madwoman, unfortunately I didn't have my wabbajack on me at the time.

Some of my characters fast travel, some use carriages only.
I would never ever use fast travel with my hunter character, for example.

I keep seeing comments like this. No fast travel allowed, but carriages are OK? Well, no. They work just like fast travel. They are fast travel. The screen blanks out, you get the loading screen, and then you're magically there. In Red Dead Redemption, you could actually sit in the train or carriage and watch the landscape go by. You could take the real time that the ride took. In Skyrim, it's just a big time skip, exactly like FT.
