Father Elija

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:41 am

Why is father Elija at the Sierra Madre what does he want? he seems like one who cares more about tech than gold seeing as how he was in the BoS. If I were him I'd just be really happy with my findings in the big empty. I mean he for hologram tech, new weapons, robots, and prototype explode collars, but he leaves it just so he could get rich off the gold in the Sierra vault? Did he not know what ge would find? Also where was he hiding during dead money and how did he get you there? I have to many questions guess I shouldve payed more attention at the sierra madre.

The only working hologram technology was found in the Sierra Madre along with those dispenser thingies. I'm also guessing he had to leave Big Empty in a hurry because he had Christine hunting him down.

That doesn't answer why he didnt just bring the tech back to the brotherhood or something. Why did he have his eyes on the Madre?

Greed took over. He went there for the tech, and stayed for the gold.

Maybe because he didn't have anything to bring back. The holograms didn't work and as I said, he didn't have much time to waste packing. The Sierra Madre had everything he needed to become invinsible.

Maybe I'm just mixing things up but, didn't he say that he's there because of the holograms cause one of those could take out an entire platoon?
Imagine that, an army is under way, coming to slaughter you and your family and friends, what if you just had to drop a dozen of those holograms at 'em?
Wars could be won with minimal bloodshed on the hologram users side.

And the dispensers?
Imagine the possibilities with them.
Put in some random junk and get medical supplies, food, ammo.
You don't have to farm.
You don't need to have any chemistry set going or finding supplies for it.
You need no MFC or EC or casings, alloys or gunpowder.
Just pop in a cigarette package and produce something far greater.

But these are only the things that Elijah wishes to share with you.
He's there for something even greater.
Now, what could be greater than a piece of technology that could take out entire armies with little effort and a dispenser that produces anything that is programmed for random crap?
He's not there for the gold, he's there for whatever Sinclair had in that main frame.

I know it was a month or so since I last played it but that's what I remember.
And to be honest, I see why he wants it.
I just wish I could actually take this technology back to the Legion so that they could use it.

I was listening closely and he said he wanted to use the Sierra Madre as a base. It has hologram sentries that cannot die, the Cloud which preserves artifacts, vast amounts of wealth, and is defended by the Cloud, traps, and the Ghost People. Or he is just crazy.

It's pretty obvious the old coot is psychotic. His obsession with technology is insane.

Hahahahhaa.

You're right. Basically, Elijah has realized that the tech in the Sierra Madre could let him rebuild a nation in his image. He outright says this if you ask him. Vending machines to produce whatever he needs. Holograms as troops... Etc etc etc.

Of course, he's insane. Holograms are even more vulnerable than real troops once your enemies realize that the emitter is their weak point. The vending machines could indeed let you rebuild a nation, but you'd have to cart them from the Sierra Madre, through the ghost people and the cloud.

Hahahahhaa.

Why wouldn't they?
The dispensers would be locked away for a crucial moment but they would still consider how valuable it is.
And the holograms could be saved for if they were to be crushed at a battle.

I don't think they would destroy the tech but I don't think they would openly just use it all the time either.
NCR would likely use it to take away even more jobs from people.
House would likely use it so he can stay more independent.

Still think that we should've gotten something "greater" with us back home for the faction we support and hell, influence the ending sliders a bit in the main game.

Why wouldn't they?

Because they don't really make use of old world tech very much. It's part of Caesar's ethos. In this case, hologram workers and vending machines would render the society he's trying to construct moot.

Nah, Caesar would order the SM's bounty destroyed, just like he did the robots under fortification hill.

If that were the case I think a Pre-War military base would be more baluble to him than the casino and if he truly psychopathic than he would go to extremes to hd onto it.

@Gabriel: no the Leigion wouldn't use it as they turned down you suggestion to use they securitrons for the leigions purpose because Caesar believes that it's better when silicate are fighting from the heart or something.

The military did not get the holograms working as well as the ones in Sierra Madre. They probably didn't have magical dispensers either, although the latter is just speculation from my part.

Hmm, maybe, but you gotta admit that House/Yes Man/NCR would be interested in that tech though.
Hell, Legion could take advantage of the Ghosts equipment and learn how to craft more of their quality stuff for themselves.

Holograms, dispensers and the red cloud (soldiers, supplies and a biological weapon).

To him, he who controlled these things, controlled the wasteland.

1. He wanted the data base and all pre-war tech in the vault under the casino
2. He plans to use the red mist or gas as a way to clear important sites of unwanted locals
3. As mentioned above the security holograms have heavy millitary uses
4. The vending machines that take junk and make what ever they are programed to produce
5. The Serra Madrea (sp?) is a fortress with a moat of toxic mist and really unfriendly locals that take more then a beating to put down as shocktroops

Some of his first clues about the place came from Big Empty which is some huge research facillity that had information on some of the hologram tech Sinclair used. I can remember if there was anything else but I'm sure I forgot something.

Yeah well I played through the whole thing with my freind who kept making me skip dialouge because he'd already gotten to the part where you're going to the vault and he just wanted to know how to do it. So he briefly explained the plot to me but didn't do a good job. Oh well I'll replay it again in a week or so.

Second Opinion:

Father Elija really wants Sierra Madre because he using new Citedel as new beginning. Of coures, Sierra Madre Casino is full fortress.

He using these pre-war technologys to purpose.

1.Explosive Collar: Since he founds from Big Empty, use hijacking people to slave or cooperation

2.Hologram: It's perfect defence for any trespassing and hostile in Sierra Madre

3.Sierra Madre vending machines: It also perfect to survive in Sierra Madre and got everthing

4.Sierra Madre's Valut: He believes there are have so many archive and all information datas about some kind of technology

5.Cloud: Possible using cross all wastland from NCR territory

I found these without skip dialouge before end quest.
