The M1911 has been replaced by the Beretta M9 9mm pistol. The M1911 was a fantastic handgun, but it was time for a new weapon. The M9 has a much larger magazine (8 more rounds), is lighter, and is ambidextrous. There are still a few servicemen that carry the 1911, but it's not standard issue.

The Rebar Club by far i didnt even bother picking it up until i just messed about with it and realised its a 1 or 2 hit kill on most things .

Fully modded sniper rifle.
It is almost like cheating.

Fully modded Hunting Rifle (liked it so much I forgot to switch over to sniper rifle)
Lucky (saved my butt bunch of times in early game. eat it radscorpions.)

Played and "won" it 7 times and a different way each time. I think overall the most powerful weapon I found to be either the nice Sniper Rifles or for melee it was Pushy. That thing
was ridiculous!

The Navy used M1911s for a long time after the Beretta was adopted because they didn't want to pay to replace small arms on board older ships. I was on a SSBN in the late 80's and we had M1911s and M-14 rifles....on the newer boats they had M9s and M-16A2 rifles.

The only reason we went to 9mm instead of just ordering new 1911A1s from Colt....the last delivery of 1911A1s to the DOD was in '45....is to appease our NATO allies who were still mad at us because we forced them to adopt first 7.62 NATO rifles then switch to 5.56 NATO a few years later. The M9 is OK, but it wasn't even the best entry in the pistol trials....that was the SIG P226. They didn't test the Glock because they were not in a position to produce the Glock 19 in the US at that time so they did not enter a pistol. The M9 was chosen because it was cheaper than the superior P226 but still met the requirements. What was even funnier is how they justified the M9 by saying it was easier for women to use then a couple years later they adopted the SIG P228 (also superior to a M9)...to issue to women. The SPECOPS guys hardly ever use the M9....they like .45s, like the SIG P220, the HK SOCOM, or custom M1911s. If they have to use a 9mm they go with the SIG P226.

Suppressed Sniper Rifle with JSP ammo.
I used the Sniper Rifle so much in Fallout 3 that I tried my best not to use it all in New Vegas. I couldn't stay away for long though. The suppressor was just too good to pass up. Not to mention that the JSP ammo does 1.5 DAM. Just an awesome weapon.

.44 Magnum with Heavy Frame and SWC ammo.
With the Cowboy, this pistol is just a monster. I don't like the scope on it, simply cause I use it as a sidearm for close quarters stuff. Plus the iron sights are very easy to use. The SWC ammo is just amazing. Bonus to DAM and bypasses DT without any negative effects.

Just like the .44 Magnum pistol, this rifle is a beast with the Cowboy. Does fairly well at long range shots too. Not to mention that the SWC ammo makes it extremely effective.

Just an all around great sidearm. I can't wait for the 360 to get the update so I can put all the mods on it.

Brush Gun with Forged Receiver.
Quite possibly my favorite rifle in the game. I love the way it looks, sounds, and obviously the power it has. Just svcks that I barely get to use it since getting ammo for it is a major pain. Looking forward to see how many rounds are available for it when I get the patch.

I would, but after seeing how TES changed from Morrowind to Oblivion, I don't see why anyone is anticipating TES 5 with anything but dread.

As for the topic, I really like the chainsaw. See, in Fo3, I loved the Ripper, but I always thought "you know, this is a little too small for my big beefy 9 STR guy in power armor."

Lo and behold, I find Motor Runner, and suddenly, chainsaw!

I also really like how all the unique guns look unique now. It really sets them apart from the normal guns.

Overall, I guess the Ratslayer is my favorite. I favor a long-distance stealth approach, so this gun has everything I could ask for.

It just really pisses me off that it doesn't have a suppressor, though.

Maybe not the best weapon but pretty descent is 'this machine'. I love the ironsights and the pinging sound reloading it. Lots of similarities with the M1 Garand.
