Favorite Fallout: New Vegas Weapons

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 4:08 pm

Pretty self explanatory, really. I was just wondering if anyone else had a 'favorite weapon,' and by this I do not mean what do you feel is the most powerful weapon or anything like that. If your favorite weapon happens to be rather powerful, that is fine. If the weapon is from a mod, a link of some sort would be nice. Feel free to only have one weapon or have as many as you want, from any category of weapon.

And now I shall go:

Maria would have to be my favorite weapon. I love the look and feel of it, it uses easy to find ammo, it never needs to be repaired, it does decent enough damage on low armor opponents, and it has terrific accuracy out of VATS.

The Mysterious Magnum is another great weapon that I use regularly. It packs a punch on heavier opponents as well as lower armor ones, and the look and feel is amazing. The best part about it would have to be the music that is played whenever the weapon is drawn or holstered, making you feel truly awesome when you do use it (although the ammo is somewhat rare, so that is not as often as it should be).

Ballistic Fists are without a doubt my favorite unarmed weapons. The idea of a shotgun firing every time you punch is wonderfully fun, and the damage it deals is incredible. It also looks good when combined with power armor, as it looks welded in.

I have recently stumbled upon the Recharger Pistol, which is rather weak but fun enough to mess around with. As the name implies, it consumes no ammo. You will never need to reload, and by the time you've fired off enough shots to need to recharge most enemies in the early to mid game will be toast.

Okay everyone, post away! (please? This is my first thread, I need some approval!)

Well I haven't got all that far into the game, but early on my favourite weapon is undoubtedly the varmint rifle with the night scope. It's like a poor man's sniper rifle.
The Mysterious Magnum is another favourite of mine, both for the music and the fact it's a holdout weapon.

Trail Carbine with the scope mod and firing SWC ammo.

-Powerful enough to drop deathclaws.
-Accurate enough for the longest ranged shots.
-ROF nearly equal to the Gobi.
-Low recoil making lining up the next shot easy.
-Around 500 shots between repairs.

I like a stealthy character, so my favorite weapons tend to have scopes, like Ratslayer in the early game, the Sniper Rifle -w- suppressor in the later game. I love the way the All-American looks, and it's a versatile weapon too. Nothing says "I'm going to kill you" like the Anti-Materiel Rifle, but it and it's ammo are heavy, so I save it for special occasions.

For EW, I like the fully modded Laser Rifle, and the YCS-186. I'll have to re-evaluate EW once I get the patch.

I think they did an excellent job on the looks of the new weapons, especially some of the uniques. You're right, Maria is sweet looking. Thump-Thump has awesome markings on it. The camouflage pattern on the Gobi is bad-ass (I wish you could mod it).

Well I no longer care about my own thread, since TESV Skyrim has been announced. I did want to add the Pulse Gun when I had the chance, because of how it looks. OFF TO SPECULATION!!!!

This.
accurate up to medium range, jsp ammo, hell of a punch, fast fireing frequency and great sights.
If i had to choose one weapon for every possible situation it would be this machine. Eats Legionaires, Deathclaws and Brotherhood Paladins for breakfast.
It makes me wonder why the USA developed any other weapon after this machine actually.

Plasma Defender, more realistic (?) looking plasma pistol.
Light Machinegun, more practical version of a Minigun with common caliber ammunition.
Anti-Materiel Rifle, because Deathclaws look better with a hole the size of two fists in them :D

There should be three holes after one shot. One in its chest, one in its back and one in the other deathclaw behind it. :D
Too bad its not possible with gamebryo engine.

I just got La Longue Carabine recently, and i love the look and feel of using it. It's not the most powerful rifle out there, but its good enough for me with the Cowboy perk and a sneak attack critical.

Yes, it was. I strongly advise everyone to leave the Fallout forums immediately and start fapping over TESV. I have been watching the trailer over and over again since I saw it originally.

Except for the lines the guy spoke the trailer was crap.
All cinematic trailers are just pure crap.
They don't show what the actual game is about.
So while I'm extremely happy that its finally confirmed I'm not so giddy about yet another CG piece of crap trailer.

So really, the trailer ain't that much to go "SHAMWOOHOoO!" about imo.

It is to me. I already knew the game would be awesome, so seeing gameplay or whatever won't be as much of a "HOMG" moment as simple confirmation.

The trailer had tons of information. You see, the information is exciting to me. (not to say I wont [censored] my pants at gameplay too ;D)

As I said, the lines the guy spoke was interesting.
Didn't see anything from the CGI that was worth giving a damn about except for a dragon which had a really bad morning breath.

Mine are the Marksman Carbine, Assault Carbine, and Anti-Materiel Rifle.

The carbines are favorites because I love the AR-15 design with a passion. The Anti-Materiel Rifle is a favorite because I've had a love affair with weapons in that category for years. There's something about a weapon that's capable of reaching out and touching someone with excessive force at immense ranges...

Of course you are right.
I wasnt refering to the real world, just to the ingame US.
And the fact that assault carbines (which more or less replaced the garand in RL) have low damage and awful spread.
Of course modern assault rifles are superior to WW2 stuff.

Well in the ingame world, as you put it, they developed energy weapons. Just saying, between a Fat Man and a Gauss Rifle you would be hard pressed to find people going for the M1.

Actually, Some WW2 weapons are more powerful then guns we have today, The M1911(I think it was this pistol anyways... silly me.) has been in use since 1907, And as far its use go's, I'm pretty sure it's still in use as the standard issue pistol.

Modded Grenade Rifle. Due to it's mod it's a lot easier to aim with it, and using Incendiary ammo from far away is just awesome.

That thing is pretty amazing, I'll give you that. I would personally rather use a pistol than a rifle any day, but that's just based on the look and feel (the Maria and the Mysterious Magnum are my two favorite guns).

Still, if you lived in a world with laser weapons, they would probably get outdated eventually. You do bring up a good point though, and mad props for knowing that.
