Falkreath, I love that pine forest/Log cabin theme, it's how I'd envision High Rock

Yes, Blackreach. However, outside you can pretty much take a snapshot anywhere ... here are two of mine.

- I enjoyed the Crabber's Shanty quite a bit.
- Blackreach caused me to freak out with excitement for about three solid hours.
- There was an underground forest I found in a cave that was pretty surreal.

The volcanic area in Eastmarch, the Reach, the swamps near Morthal, and the Forests in Falkreath are my favourites. Such beatifuly designed areas with their own unique atmosphere. Also walking between the ice to the north of Winterhold. The sound of the ice creaking and cracking was a very nice touch.

Also ...

Spoiler
In Sovengarde before you kill Alduin. It was a nice touch finding the losts souls while wandering through the mist. Also quite saddening when I realised that Alduin was hunting the lost dead to regain his power.

It's obvious that most of the development time was spent on the world itself than the quests and lives of the inhabitants :stare:

Changed my mind. Blackreach is no longer my favorite place. My favorite place is now all the little hot springs around Bonestrewn Crest/Peak/Hill/Whatever it's called. :)

The mountainous countryside south of Markath, the Forsworn country.

I like that as well. Sometimes the mountains can annoy me, but it's very beautiful.

EDIT- I rushed through Blackreach the first time because it felt really threatening. My character wasn't very strong back then. I'm assuming it's possible to go back in from where you exited and not have to go through the whole place again?

OP, I know high post count makes you look sixy and all but do restrain yourself a bit!

Me, I like Solitude the most of the large hold capitals, Rivervood of the small towns and the little Inns scattering the world are my favorite single spots.

Where should I look for this map? I loved Blackreach and would love to see it from a bird's eye view.

I should also add, I'm quite a big fan of Markarth and Morthal.
It wasnt a map of the place itself it was an outline on the regular map of the borders of the place.

Solitude. Nobody has said Solitude? It has a "fun" atmosphere in the main street, and the architecture is awesome. It's large size is also a plus.
I had Solitude and yes it was amazing as I said I like that it was built on an arch.

I haven't made it to Blackreach quite yet, so currently I'd say:
Whiterun
Markarth
Solitude
Sky Haven Temple

Marshes around Morthal, especially on a starry night. Absolutely gorgeous, and an alchemist's wet dream.

Uhh, say what?

Oh and my fave area is the arching bridge with a set of bandits protecting either side. Love that bridge.

Solitude and Whiterun are my favorite places, along with my base of operation, the Arch-Mage's Quarters. I have to agree with someone else's sentiments earlier, Blackreach is probably the most depressing place in the game. The 2+ hours I spent searching for Crimson Nirnroots down there was the only time I didn't enjoy playing Skyrim, but once I start something I have to finish it.

Blackreach. Morthal. Also like the top of the Arch-Mage tower, good view and decent place to work on skills without fear of killing any npcs.

I love taking a trip from Falkreath on a rainy day and going up to Angi's Cabin. When you get there you are above the clouds and it's sunny. Then I'll hike along the Falkreath Alps (what I call them) to Haemar's Shame.

Riften because I practically run the place (I'm a legate in the imperial legion, I'm the leader of the dark brotherhood and the thieves guild all of which have ties to Maven Black-Briar). Oh, and also, I own a house there with my lovely wife Muiri.
