I feel (for serious TES players only)

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:58 pm

It's time for every serious TES player to just stop answering these.
Join me in this thread to rant on the "I FEEL" posts.

Sharing constructive criticism, expecting decent feedback is one thing.

But, sharing: "This is 'how I feel' moments" without any "because I have this
that will improve things" is ............"verbal diarrhea". (George Carlin gets the credit here)

Even the ones, that state: "Skyrim Rocks".

Posts that contain...."I feel" , "I'm passionate", etc.......ugh.

Anyone else out there "hearing" me?

Here is my reasoning:

Repetitive, brainless posts are just this: Someone that doesn't take the time to at least see if there is
another post like the one that they are about to post that is just "verbal diarrhea" (love you George), blah blah blah,
or don't care what other people think....and post anyway, and never return back to that topic at all,
but just sit there at their computer and giggle at all the responses. haha.

But, I guess it's this: Welcome to THE FORUMS

On to other things:

The game, for me, will improve with greater modding. The game for others will end without mods, because
they either don't want mods, can't have mods (no pc), or just don't care about anything that is improving the TES
experience.

Thankfully, not all games are the same. Some games cater to certain play types, and play styles.

Making a visual experience that caters to EVERYONE's "likes" on the planet is gotta' be the most difficult thing to accomplish for anyone that is in the entertainment business....

And Skyrim is simply what it is for different types of people, and in my opinion, does THIS extremely well.

It is my belief that Skyrim will become the game of choice for serious TES players (on pc), when certain mods
"up the stakes" for serious play consequences in the game setting, AND HERE IT IS: That casual gamers
will take a long time to completely absorb. If you casually play a game, you will not enjoy everything that the game has to offer, and feel the total immersion that is meant to be TES, in a reasonable amount of time, and if you don't read
the books of lore, and don't see all the sites to see, you "won't get it".

So, everyone is invited to flame on in this thread discussing "I feel". :bunny:

Bethesda: Thank you for the eventual arrival of the Creation Kit.

And from the day the Kit arrives, I will be,for now on, in the modding forum discussing mods for Skyrim,
and coming back here to see where the REAL , SERIOUS TES players are.

How do you feel :stare: about that?

So you are bothered by other people sharing their opinions about the game and yet you give your opinions about them and the game itself in the same post?

I feel I have the right to say I feel, I reckon, in my opinion, my view is, and whatever the hell I like, without asking for approval.

Serious TES players are only on the mod forums? So someone who say has Daggerfall on DOSBox on a Mac, and the later games on consoles, who has spent hundreds of hours playing each one, isn't a serious player. I call not just elitism, but uncalled for and poorly thought out elitism.

Wow...

You are such a raging hypocrite, there should be a Thu'um to seal your mouth.

"Shuuu...

Uuuuu....

Arrrr....

Annnn....

Asssssss....!"

And yeah, I have over 3000 hours in the ES series over the past decade. So, whatever I say is 'valid'... just like you.

And no, I don't care how you feel.

You obviously need to read my post again. Quick on the draw.

I am not "bothered" by anything.

Opinions that are constructive, and share feedback are welcome.

So, your reply is welcome......you are allowing me to share my feedback.

And to all those that are going to say the same thing: This is for serious TES players.

If you don't agree, then DON'T AGREE.

I certainly am not going to be "bothered" by it.

You can usually tell what the content of the thread is and not click on it. Unless it has a cryptic title like "I feel". **starts singing "Ray of Light" to himself for some reason**

Not everyone is going to have a creation kit, nor is everyone going to care about making or using mods (as cool as I think they are).

Speaking for myself (to not generalize), the games on the consoles and the unmodded PC game are Bethesda's product. They are not finished, and Bethesda becomes aware of this from their customers pointing out things that they find through their suggestions and criticisms.

Some people use their own opinions more than looking at things from business or development standpoints, but that doesn't mean they should be silent because 'it won't matter because it's Bethesda and they'll get to whatever because whatever just shut up and wait.'

In fact, it's likely that most of the people who come on the forums with complaints do so because they're desperate to get a response from Bethesda. Like maybe if we scream our thoughts loud enough on their forums, one of them will grace us with their presence and STATE 'We are aware of this' or 'We have taken note of this, and promise to fix this' or 'Here is a list of the things we're fixing and you can stop making topics about, relax.'

The real fact to discuss in the post is not that anyone shouldn't say how they feel.

You can feel whatever you want. I wasn't using the word "feel" to tag anyone.

It's the posts that just begin with and end with nothing to share.

I was really just curious as to how many people consider themselves real TES players.

So far, no one has answered that.

I consider myself a real TES player because I have at least played any of the games once.

That's all it takes for the right to an opinion, you just get added credibility for prolonged exposure to the series.

Voicing your criticisms in a good constructive way is certainly beneficial for us all.

I have logged well over five thousand hours into this series since Morrowinds release so I fell I can say whatever I wish about my favorite game series.

I believe a lot of fans of this franchise come here to get a response from Bethesda and get advice and information on their favorite video game saga.

I feel I am a "real" Elder Scrolls player I have invested more time into this series more than any other game franchise ever. I have taken time out to read some of the lore and I created a forums account just for this series I have never done that for any other game and I doubt I ever will again.

I feel a lot of people got the wrong idea about the OP, my reasoning for saying this is because the poster is talking about people bashing or praising the game and not posting any kind of reasoning that could be construed as any kind of constructive criticism. Just my thoughts on the matter. ^.^

I feel like this was a waste for a topic.

And here is the prime example of: "verbal diarrhea"

Would I want to discuss something with this person in real life: NO.

Thank you Ozzy for your response. It appears to be coming from someone with interactive thinking processes. (jargon I know)

Who would you consider a false ES player then?

You're kind of an ass, you know? These forums are for discussion, your opinions aren't any more valid because you consider yourself a "serious TES player'.

What do you mean by 'real' TES players. What do you mean by us not having anything to share?

And what's so bad about the use of the word 'feel.' About about 'think?' Is that word okay?

Edit: Bahhhghhh, whatever. I don't care. Bye guys.

I also feel that I don't count as a serious TES player because I missed Morrowind, and from what I hear it was one of the best in the serious. u.u

Ok, I see now.

I feel like I'm a real ES player because when I play any other RPG I find myself comparing it to OB, my first and most loved ES game. I compare it from the nostalgia for the guild quests to the tickling down my spine I get when I step outside of the imperial sewers to embrace the midday sun reflecting across the warm waters of the niben bay.

Sadly no game other than FO3 has given that feeling.

THAT is why I feel I am a real ES player.

To the guy above me: I missed it too but still feel to be a real ES player.

I feel that I am not a "serious TES player" but only because I haven't played it since the 1st game. I do in fact remember loving Morrowind for the little time I got to play it. I like Skyrim and try to immerse myself into the world and into the lore. I wonder what it takes to be a "serious TES player".

Try CG forums where you can post an illustration, a movie or a concept and expect feedback, criticisms pointing out what's good, what could be better and what's wrong. It's filled by "I love it!" and "Excellent work!" or "Can you make a tutorial?"

In comparison, detailed feelings about a game are interresting things to read.

Thank you, truz11.

I never said to be a serious TES player meant playing ALL of the TES games to infinity.

It is simply " a state of mind ".

Which is what TES, in my opinion is all about, and not many games "accomplish".....
which is creating "the serious state of mind / TES experience.

In other words, are you serious about your TES experience.

Serious meaning........do you spend the time in The Elder Scrolls to be absorbed.......and oh god,
here comes that word........TO FEEL that you are really a part of this world.

Thanks for all the posts by the way.

And, I apologize for any misunderstandings.

I see this a lot, Skyrim gets compared to Oblivion or Morrowind in nearly every thread. I think it has to do with whichever game you played first, I think the term would be "rose-tinted goggles". My first TES game was Daggerfall and I do always look back on that with a certain fondness, it could also be that some people truly think Oblivion or Morrowind were better games though. In all honesty I don't think Oblivion was a superior, I can't explain it but Oblivion just didn't have the hook for me that Daggerfall or Skyrim has had for me.
