I don't think they shouldn't be available. I think they should be optimized for the computer, and scaled down for consoles. BTW Nintendo says hi. There have been "consoles" since the 70's.
I disagree.

Doesn't matter if Consoles can't have Mods, if TES just sold it for PC users, they would not make a large profit like they are doing now.

That would take a damper on the graphics, design, etc.

I apologize, I guess I misunderstood you. And yeah I forgot about Nintendo, I was only thinking of xbox and playstation.

Consoles WERE around back then. NES, for instance.

TES is on consoles only because it saved Bethesda from going bankrupt. Obviously they are not going to remove the "multiplatform" tag anytime soon.

Sadly that is true, and the day they stop releasing the construction set to the community, is the day I stop buying their product.

The PlayStation came around in the year following Arena's release and the year preceding Daggerfall's.

wouldn't be as large, they still make a profit though. graphics, design, etc are not tied into income of the developer its their work ethic that makes the game. Witcher 2 for example does everything better except the large scale exploration then Skyrim with PC sales alone made a good amount of profit. They are now making a version for 360 and will release that to make more money on top of that. A proper process that has been proven to work various times.

I do have to agree with you, but less the profit, the less motivated they would be.

Sounds silly, but it's true...

Like you stated, they would make a profit still from PC user's alone, but would cut off a HUGE portion of their income because the Consoles would not be included.

You are correct though.

Ok, ok, so that was a bad argument. My point is just that I don't see why everyone has to blame everything on the console players. I prefer to play RPGs on the 360, because I find it more fun, there's no law against it. I played Oblvion on my 360 for years, and then when I got tired of it, I got it for the PC and played it with mods. I plan to do the same with Skyrim. I find the vanilla game much more fun on a console however.

I love PC gaming, but I sometimes hate the PC community. If I have to get a "dumbed" down version of a game for the sake of consoles that's fine. My mindset is the more people who have access to TES the better, because I enjoy talking about the game to others, which is why I'm on a flipping message board. As for the game being dumbed down for consoles this needs to die. I know people who's PCs hardware is actually worse than that of an Xbox, or a PS3 and they still play the flipping game. At least with consoles you have an even distribution of hardware specs, with PC you got joe blow over there who is like the nerd version of caraholics who overclocked his CPU and has a liquid cooling unit that funnels the [censored] he ejects every time he flipping thinks about his rig.

I sometimes hate the PC community. Discussions turn into pissing matches over who has the better rig. All that's missing is some flipping wheels and some leather jackets and they'd be perfect for a grease sequel set in 2012.

I don't think you understand. There is such thing as quality control (At least at Micro$oft, not sure about $ony). Unless the game shows 30+ fps at a pre-defined resolution during any given situation it will not be released. Period. It will be send back to the developers with a sticker "Fix it" on it. Even if it means that the game will be cut and butchered.

That's not quite true. I used to think so, but Microsoft's left quite a few slip by recently (such as Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Dark Souls which don't always hold up to that 30 fps) and as the state of Skyrim on the PS3 shows, I don't think Sony give a care either... the PS3 version of Skyrim certainly does not run at a stable 30 fps... no, not at all.

The point of this topic is people in the world are suffering, childeren are going without. It's really for the kids you know. We can argue everything but the point is maybe it made someone happy for christmas. What is wrong with us badgering over a game like this. Somehow I have to learn that material things are just material and that spending time is most important.

All games have glitches/bugs.

Bethesda is currently working on the issue for the PS3.

So it's about that?
Although it's sad... it has nothing to do with Skyrim...

Why post a random topic about Starving Children, etc when you can make a video of it on Youtube, to actually motivate people.

A crappy porting job, improper rendering path, and lack of optimization resulting in an inherently unstable fps is not a glitch or a bug. All Bethesda's working on is trying to fix that variable issue that can eventually turn performance on the PS3 version to an unplayable low, but a patch they hastily whip together in a couple months is not going to be able nor is it stated to be to improve the graphical distribution, base rendering code, and lack of optimization for the PS3 version which, right out of the box, never manages to stay at 30 fps except in some very small interiors such as a house. Out of the box, it fluctuates, depending on region, between 15 and 30 fps, though never staying at 30. That is not some small glitch or bug and no, usually games aren't so crappily optimized as to run that poorly on a console.

They would be bankrupt.

no they wouldn't again Witcher 2 CD Projeck red did not go bankrupt they made a significant profit period on PC alone and now making a "cut down" version for 360. Battlefield each game PC exclusive title even 2142 (the least purchased) made profits covered their expenses and allowing DICE to continue to make Battleifeld same applies to BGS with Daggerfall and Arena if they failed on PC they would not be here. Indie devs that become successful such as Tripwire are PC exclusive games are still around not bankrupt. Companies do NOT need to make games for consoles to be in profit range.

If any developer started on a platform and make excellent games then turned their backs on the first fan base they created the game for then made the same franchise into another platform and it turns out to be lesser then its predeccsors would you get upset if you were part of that fanbase? People see this with recent games including Skyrim and hell even morrowind on a few example but other franchises as well especially Battlefield although DICE didn't just port game over it looks fantastic. Of course this does not apply just to just PC players this applies to any platform what if Halo or Uncharted went to PS3 and 360 and what if it was inferior in some way due to such because the game is not focused directly on one platform would those fan base be pleased?

That's impossible because what you listed is impossible to attain. You cannot keep a consistent FPS because there is always a chance that it will dip. On the topic of quality control at least you know the game will run on your PS3 which may not always happen on a PC. With PCs quality control is much more difficult to maintain due to the variability of the hardware, and OS's.

If you're specifically talking about the PS3 issues then yeah that svcks, but that's the limitation of the hardware that was around for Oblivion itself and has less than 1gb of ram.

I like how people like to wave with wrong facts on these boards. :P

Technically (well not even technically) Arena was released in 1994 (but not sure if it was before ps) and Daggerfall was released in 1996, playstation was out around '94.

If PC didn't support Arena their wouldn't be Morrowind, Daggerfall, Oblivion, Fallout series altogether, or Skyrim.

Yes you can. Ask 4A Games about all the fun they had with keeping FPS over 30 at all times in an Xbox 360 version of M2033.

Yes they would. Bethesda decided to make Morrowind multiplatform and it saved them. If they stayed "PC only and forever" the Beths would be extinct.
