Or am I the only svcker falling for Falkreath, he he.

*And I do want a house there where I can settle down with my wife* bu hu :(

Well, it was pretty short and sweet (from a quest perspective anyways) and I didnt particularly care for the area so I wasn't bummed. I would rather be on the beach.........waaaahaaaaahaaaaa

Same for Dawnstar here...in fact, I think my next character's first home will be there. Even if I have to build it myself.

I've just had that idea, and I love it :)

Yes, I literally hate every house they have for sale in this game :|
I did plan to live in a house outside city walls, but they don't give you that choice.
So i'm just living in Anise's Cabin, that place doesn't reset o.o

I love Falkreath also! The Jarl is great, the lack of respect he shows and the things he says in that awesome accent, "...none of that local piss..." I think he suits the town perfectly.

If you use your imagination you can nearly "live" where you want in the game

Spoiler
i love Falkreath too,and if i'm not wrong after i've killed one of his underling in one Dark Brotherhood quest there was the opportunity to rest in his bed in the Jarl's Longhouse; but don't ask me who is 'cause i don't remember his name in this moment  i mean, better than nothing, and you have even an Alchemist table here  but you have to let your spouse out sorry

Edit : find it

Every major and minor city should have had property available. From Hroggar's House being rebuilt in Morthal for the player, to that wonderfully large, and empty-flat lot in Falkreath (I'd totally live in Falkreath too btw)

Some of the houses (NPC) in Skyrim seem uncessarily large though. Particularly bad in Windhelm, where these huge manors are often completely devoid of anything inside.

Also, I hate how all the Inns and Houses outside of major settlements are pretty much copy-pasta. In every Elder Scrolls game, I usually rest at Inns for a long time before getting a residence, so seeing basically the same place over and over was a little lame. Even Oblivion had more variety.

There is always a bed you can sleep in for free at the small towns. Only problem is you can't move your spouse there.

At least that's a hella of a lot faster than dealing with the CK...6 hours and I've barely done the basic interior/exterior layout...

I love the smaller towns/villages and I'd really like my own house in one of them. I've never understood why Dawnstar and Morthal don't have houses you can buy, they have the Thanes quests. I do understand the small villages. Being a console player, I can't mod myself a house, so I deal with what I have and try not to gripe to much.

Yeah, all the best places don't have houses, I'd love a house in Rorikstead.

Since this thread gave me the idea to build my own house, I consider it fair to share here the first WIP screens :)

I'm putting a lot of effort to do it nice & Havok-proof (cos I just hate to clean up things that fell to the ground or whatever). Hope you like it :)

Same here for Morthal, even though when you live in Solitude you don't need to travel very far.

Steady supply of Death Bell and Swamp Fungal Pod for poisons is awesome.

@Dovakhan

The manor in Dawnstar looks pretty awesome if a bit out of place. ^^

And I would put it up on the hill and not directly at the shore.

On the hill it's a pain in the ass without editing the landscape. And I'm not so talented with the CK to do that...still  Besides, I've an idea or two for things to put in the shore.

Yep, maybe Solitude-style is a bit out of place, but it's the house mesh & interior I liked the most  The exterior isn't still complete, though. I plan to tweak a bit the lightning to make it a bit less sinister.

Never tried marriage in the game but is there someone you can marry in Falkreath? If so you could move into their house.

Me too! I’d love to have a Bosmer hunter based out of Falkreath. Maybe there’s a shack somewhere that can be taken over. Wouldn't solve the spouse issue, though, unless they were a follower.

Yep, Falkreath and Morthal are the ones I wish I could live in the most. Maybe in the expansions/DLC. I just think it's a shame they didn't consider it for the original release.

Yeah, it kind of svcks that you can't buy a house in any of the smaller holds, hopefully they'll fix that with a DLC (HIIINNNTTTTT)

Anyway, I just bought a house in Riften, I wanted to buy one in Winterhold, since I'm RPing a mage style character, but unfortunately nooo, I'm not allowed :(

Well, in defense of Winterhold, it's not like there's any houses from the beginning. I mean there's ONE, but that's it. And they probably don't really have the resources to furnish your home if you could buy it. and there's no one there to hire to build you a house either, so it'd probably be incredibly expensive to buy a house there. You'd have to pay tradesmen to come from another hold, probably pay their defense for traveling, food and board, and then still have to pay a lot to get anything to put in your house. And even with all that, the Jarl would probably disapprove of you being there anyway, being a mage and all, and would try to make things more cumbersome for you, so you're probably better off staying in the College.

That being said, I'd love to see a campaign to restore Winterhold and repair the College's reputation.

In the next DLC (whether it is expansion or not) Beth should include a Falkreath House that resembles a hunting lodge (situated a bit out of town in the woods, but still within sight of Falkreath), Dawnstar House/Ship (Increase the dock size and have a personal ship that you can use as a house), and a Morthal House (After completing the Thane quest of Morthal, you can buy the property and make it your own little shack/hideout, complete with a basemant.)

If we ever get a "Hircine's Hunting Grounds" DLC then the Falkreath house can spring out of nowhere with the residents of Falkreath discussing it's sudden appearance. When you go and check it out, it is empty, but transports you to Hircine's hunting grounds. Completing the quest line gives you the house, fully furnished and nice along with the portal back to his realm where mystical creatures can be hunted and found.

The Dawnstar house can be some Atmoran's ship that takes you to an Atmoran island (if that DLC is added) where Thalmor are attempting to take the outpost and you must help them fend them off. At the end, you get the ship as your own furnished quarters that can travel to and from the isle where you have a castle (kinda like Battlehorn)

Either of these can be short or lengthened to be really deep and interesting.

You could always just move into the Jarl's house in these towns. After you're the thane, you usually can just sleep in the Jarl's bed.

The wardrobes in these bedrooms also seemed to be safe, but I didn't test them properly.

Even better: Most of the Jarl houses have an enchanting table. Awesome. :)

... of course, it's a bit creepy to move in with Idrod or Skald.

I really like Falkreath too, can′t put my finger on why i like it but it might have something to do with the fact that it′s so quiet and chill there.
