Festivity Pack?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:24 am

I just want is for the pipboy to say "Merry Christmas" "Happy Halloween" and so on. I would not mind finding old halloween masks like a skull or something. After all the great war was October 23, 2077 very close to Halloween. FO3 has a picture of kids in Halloween costumes as part of the loading slide show. It would be funny to be in an old store and you see what looks like T-51b power armour. You run to it and find it's just a plastic halloween costume.

Well, if you just want you pipboy to say that... mod it!!

also, didn't bioware do this for dragonage? I mean it was o.k. but it wasn't the funnest thing in the world. =\

ideas!!!! iv'e think how is this equipment.

Santa's Suit: Lucky +5, Charisma +5, Health +5 Agility +5, Stealth +10, Gambling +10
Santa's Hat: Charisma +2, Lucky +2,
Bomb "plastic" Box: a plastic bomb like the C4
Bomb "Granade" Box: a granade in the present version
Santa's Candy Rifle: a big candy who you can use to shot your enemies
Fat Santa: a Xmas version of the Fat Man, where you use some Bomb Box Nuke

and how your secret base:
Santa's House, with all the conforts and who you can complete with a little quest and recluit your "special" workers, helper and companions.
And start a little business where you buy and sell special presents for the peoples of the Mojave desert

maybe in another game.

yes thats a creative idea. but even if it was in game that is a way overpowered santa outfit.
maybe in other games. but it would really break immersion

I think the OP may have to wait until someone plucks up the courage to make a mod along those lines.

However, I have deleted 9 posts from the thread, calling other members trolls and general rudeness is not tolerated on these forums. I only get paid to clean up once so either stick with the topic for what it's worth or don't post.

The santa suit itself sounds fine. I can see finding a nylon 50's Santa suit in an old department store and it fitting the game just fine ~the peppermint weaponry though, is IMO a little bit too off the edge.

The original Fallout 1 & 2 Pipboys had screensavers, and it was a popular gag in the 90's for some games to surprise you with holiday greetings. IMO Its in perfect character for the Vault boy to pop-up in a beard and puffball hat on December 25th.

Fat Santa - I think that would be pretty funny to find actually. Rather call it Bad santa though. lol

Instead of the yellowish-green explosion it would be a redish and white. Also small amounts of confetti will come off from the explosion. But thats pushing it.

I'd paint the Fat santa red and green and maybe a beeping red light on top.

I think its a fun idea for mods around the holidays as Rohugh suggested, it reminds me of the 1+1=1 wedding mod that a bunch of fellas in the community put together last year, and those are always fun. :) But not as a pre-order pack! I think its too late for all of that now, the pre-order kits are set in stone and in the stores!

I've think the "Festivity Pack" not like a pre order pack, but for a real DLC

Reminds me of Dreamcast games. Perhaps the first console whos internal clock would unlock In-game content

it seems you really think festive clothing is a good idea.

its not.

i have to say it would totaly destroy immersion and would be a total rip off if it were to be released as a DLC.

i dont think many people would pay for a couple extra outfits.

i hope they release good DLC like Point lookout and The Pit.

maybe even an expansion.

a festivity pack may work for some other rpg, but not in fallout.

Why not in Fallout? come on i's just to change sometimes the theme of the "death by the atomic bomb".

you answered your own question.

the theme of fallout is life after the apocalypse.

it would really break immersion to run into a town with candy cane weapons and a santa hat.

plus i would much rather them make an actual expansion to the game instead of wasting time on holiday themed packs

I would think no.It wouldn't fit at all with the post-apocalyptic theme for the game and the way of survival.

But during in your travel in Fallout world, have you never see parodies and reference about the litterature, comics, movies, and others parts of the urban and historical knowledge?

yes but they were subtle references. they were discreet and slipped over alot of peoples heads

this idea is in no way subtle.

like the Tesla power Armor?

i dont think that was a reference really.

like the name of Dogmeat.

in the post apocalyptic movie "A boy and his dog" the guy yells "shut up Dogmeat

or when bryan wilks hides in the preservation shelter. he says "now i know what a tv diner feels like"

Callahan's Magnum(a powerful in game weapon) refers to Dirty Harry's signature gun, and it's also the strongest revolver in the game, fitting with Harry's quote "and it's the most powerful handgun in the world".

However, i've post this topic because i want understan if the "tradition" of the pre war society are preserved or totally forget and use like a legend and some wastedlanders narrate this events in their stories. Expecially for the festivity events are preserved or use in some tribals ritual

they would probably be forgotten.

i would not mind to see some references to holidays. but i would not buy a dlc for it

i am not trying to be mean. but i dont think you really understand. i think the consensus is that this is not a very appealing idea.

im sure if you put your mind to it you could come up with something better.

yes some might enjoy a festivity pack. but most would rather have an actual DLC and not just a couple outfits
