I'm lvl 21 and I have about 22.000 gold in my inventory. Its simply too easy to earn a huge amount of gold in only 2-3 caves/dungeons, and the big problem is that there really isnt anything worthy to spend gold on. The only thing I buy is healing potion.

Well, I gues I could buy every house for sale in the whole game. :P

Sorry I posted this in the wrong section. Could it be removed to Skyrim Discussion section?

I'm an archer, so I buy a lot of arrows. The problem I've found is that I get a lot of awesome stuff to sell, but the merchants never have enough gold haha. I mean, it's not a big deal to go to multiple merchants (or I could work on my Speech skill) but I guess that kinda keeps my wealth at bay.

The only thing I did buy was a Bow of Binding. I didn't even want it for the Soul Gem filling, it just did more damage haha.

I'm an archer as well, but I'm also an alchemist, so by the time I finish buying all my arrows, I still have a small fortune in potions I could sell. :P

Yeah I am up to 50,000 gold now. I plan on using it for the houses though. My big problem is the merchants never have enough gold and I always have too many items. I'm gonna start just giving them away!

I'm kind of floudering with my first character. In Oblivion I always used alchemy as my cash cow, but its more difficult in this game. I'm level 25 and have just 13K gold. My first character in Oblivion was poor too.

Someone hasn't played previous games.

This is a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the system in Morrowind and (iirc) Oblivion.

Wow, I'm nearly broke. Then again, I've been making leather braces to increase my smithing level so that might be why.

Well, one of the things Bethesda doesn't implement correctly in their games is restrictions. I like restrictions in rpg. Sure, I love freedom but freedom without restriction can spoil freedom and create problems like the OP is having.

I'm level 32 and i have 3k gold. Spells are damn expensive nowadays and its impossible to find anything really worthy to take.

I'm level 10 and I only just got the 5k for the Baybreeze house. I did a few things right after and got another 1.5k back. I, too, have the broke merchants issue.

Mid 30s and I have about 80,000 gold now; I've bought the house in Whiterun, perhaps it's time to become a property magnate.

Although I don't have much to spend the gold on, it's still frustrating not being able to sell all the crap I'm lugging about everywhere and it can involve quite a lot of micromanaging of the assorted bits and pieces. I tend to buy stuff like grand soul gems to bump up vendors' cash reserves, though I'm now starting to stockpile assorted enchanted items that I don't use and usually can't sell. Sigh...

There is an achievement for 100k onhand. I'm thinking this is intentional.

Haha. I did that in Oblivion (alchemy + archery with a little magic thrown in). The potions would fund my arrow addiction.

I guess most of my money comes from selling spell scrolls. They can fetch upwards of 500+ and, since I'm not using magic at all, I have no issues getting rid of them.

Where the heck are you guys selling? I have yet to find a merchant with more than 700 gold. I just got bored sick of trying to go back to the merchant over and over and over each day, just to sell 1/10th of the loot that I've actually got.

Soo, here I sit at level 21 and I barely have 3k in gold. However, I do have the Breezehome and all her upgrades.

i'm almost level 31 and i have enough gold now to buy the best house with all the upgrades
better believe i'm getting that! hell yeah!

i find that the hard part isnt finding the stuff to sell, it's actually getting your money for them. Merchants run out of money so quick when you have some rubies and soul gems and scrolls for them

I'm not seeing how you guys are having merchant gold issues. When I get done in a dungeon I go back to whiterun where my house is there are like 5 vendors to sell stuff to. On the rare occassion they do happen run out all you have to do is walk into your house and sleep for the night then when they open in the morning all their gold is back.

One of the first mods I'm really going to want is something that increases the buying prices of items while reducing the selling price. I like being forced to slowly save up for things so that when I am able to buy something I feel like I've earned it.

Also on my "want" list is a mod that will put in more things that are worth-while to buy. Imperial Furniture was a good example of that in Oblivion, and I really it doesn't take too long for something like that to crop up in Skyrim!

I spend about 10k a day on soul gems (lots of enchanting on weapons, some deplete after 20-40 slashes) i just enchant any weapons and apparel and sell those.
That in result gives me around 20-40k a day (if i feel like traveling).
Often i sell all my stuff in whiterun.

Two blacksmiths, hunter shop, potion shop and a trader shop result in about 5k each time i sell stuff. (Often buying up whole ingredients and soul gem supplies)

Where and what is the improvement exactly? Making gold in Skyrim is incredibly easy and there isn't much to spend it on.

The two(?) armourers in Whiterun have about 1,100 each, though I'm not sure if that's a result of the speech skill (and hence mercantile) or if it's just how much they have. Most are between 500 and 750, though.

I was originally just going to buy each house as soon as I had the gold. Now, i'm going to save 'til 100k for the achievement, and then acquire all the houses. Usually, if I end up close to a full inventory, I can make between 2-5k. It seems reasonable to me.

I am a level 30 thief/assassin the most gold I have ever had was about 6k, on average I have about 1-2k just to little to get the good weapons with the enchantments on them at the moment glass weapons with absorb spells.. I find it easier for me to just steel stuff I want, BUT I am now starting to dabble in enchantment I need enchantments, and I also have the problem where the merchants never have enough gold..
