First Characters

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:22 am

Seeing as a lot of other people are doing it, I'm going to post my SPECIAL. Though, this isn't concrete and will probably change.

S 4- I don't except to be using heavy weapons
P 5- Can't see the use for this yet, but maybe that'll change
E 5- I don't want to be completely helpless, but I won't fighting too much.
C 8- Speech is my weapon
I 8 - I intend to use Science a lot and I want my brain to be a weapon, too.
A 5- I like to use VATs, but I'm keeping it at 5 for the moment 'cos I don't know what else it'll be used for in NV
L 5- Don't intend to gamble that much, but I want some things to go my way... and Critical Strikes and nice. :)

This is assuming our SPECIAL has to add up to 40. Though, I heard Obsidian are giving us 5 points to distribute at the beginning, whereas in Fallout 3 we only had 4 -- or at least that's how I remember it.

I know in the old fallouts it gave u a better shot in vats or in general i guess

Ah ok, I havent played FO1/2 so I wouldnt know about how the SPECIAL effected vat shooting. Dont know if I really want to try to get the game seeing as my games from 1998 and older typically dont work and brings up an error saying that the game wont install cause its not a 32 bit system.

Since you're a courier I'll probably start off with a average joe type of character with tagged skills being small guns, first-aid, and repair. Skills all wasteland denizens should know.

I won't start role playing probably until my third play through, which is when I'll also start modding the hell out of my game. :P

A sneaky sniper has been powerful in all the games and a high Speech skill has helped with a lot of the quests. That said I was disappointed in the insta-win Speech options in Fallout 3 compared with still having to thread your way through the conversations in Fallout 1 and 2. Speech just wasn't as interesting in Fallout 3 as a result because it wasn't as challenging. You just had to raise the skill to certain level and that wss it. No mini game like lock picking or computer hacking to go with it.

So Small Guns and Sneak are a no brainer for starting tag skills but I think I'll wait and see how New Vegas plays out on whether to tag Speech or Repair.

seems like a character that can take care of its self will be the most valuable to me espically with hardcoe.

My first character will, just like in F3 be named Walther, a rather fat man in his 40s with a colorful background. When it comes to morale he has very basic principles, but he does not for any reason other than emergency break any of them. The man has an exceptionally short fuse, and has no patience for even a hint of rudeness from anyone, except his closest friends. Faction wise, he will wait and see which one is rude to him first, then side with the opposite.

He will mainly use small arms for combat, melee weapons. Uses speech quite alot.

I'm thinking: (Don't even know if distributed the right amount of SPECIAL points lol xD)

Strength: 7
Perception: 5
Endurance: 4
Charisma: 5
Intelligence: 8
Agility: 7
Luck: 4

Tagged Skills:
Guns
Repair
Speech
(With Tag! Perk I'll probably tag Medicine)

Although I'll see how things pan out I won't know how many SPECIAL points we get at the beginning or anything like that. :tops:

I'm probably going to tag Energy Weapons, Repair, and either Guns or Barter. Energy Weapons are definitely going to be a lot easier to play with in New Vegas since you can get a Laser Pistol right off the bat from Doc Mitchell's house. Guns are useful for shooting of course, but being able to afford your killing machines is important too. I always pick high Repair though so I can keep everything in near perfect condition. I'll just leave it at, "it's going to be fun".

I won't be playing FO:NV 'till February, because that's when I'm getting my computer... But hopefully there will be some nice mods by then!

But anyways, I'll be playing a Stealth character. Sneak, Small Guns (or energy if it's still in...) and lockpick! idk my attributes... probably like 4 strength, and 6 luck... idk the rest though lol. can't remember names.

My character will be a specialist with guns as well as being highly intelligent and capable of choosing her words wisely. She'll try to make as few enemies as possible, avoiding unnecessary bloodsheds.
Definetly being a good character, although most likely siding with Caesar's Legion, because her settlement was "accidentally" blown up by the NCR while she was out trying to deliver the package.

Probs putting most of the SPECIAL into Intelligence, Perception, and Endurance. Possibly spare some for Charisma aswell.

I'll be making some sort of anti-hero merc.I'll have no problems killing innocents as long as it pays well. He'll be a gun specialist with high intelligence that knows how to properly use all sorts of firearms included energy weapons.I'll increase his lockpicking and hacking as something special.I'm not sure which faction I'll join...I'll wait until i see more of the characters and such.

I'll invest most of my skill points for strength, endurance and intelligence.

Joe 'Trapmaster' Peterson. He'll probably side with the People of New Vegas or noone. He won't kill anyone, except the person that left him for dead under the Mojave Wasteland. He'll hire companions to kill for him.
