For those who have the 1.5 Patch, How is the Archery and Mag

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 10:27 am

So you don't agree. Because you have no clue what he's talking about. Or do you base your opinion on others their train of thought? Because it's considered cool on these boards to bash everything that was not present in Morrowind. Even if you never played that one.

Just curious.

PS: I like the cams. Even when the novelty feeling wears off, it's still an occasional event that breaks through the monotony of combat. They are not too frequent to become insufferable. Just fine for me.
Man ignore him, he made a whole thread about wanting to toggle kill cams off...

Awesome killcams! Love em! Played some more tonight and was happy to see so many new killcams.

I've only experienced the archery kill cam. I found it very jarring. I had forgotten about the addition of them in this patch and at first I thought *I* had somehow died and was getting mad trying to figure out what happened. I think they happen far too often and get annoying because of its overuse.

I thoroughly enjoy the melee kill cams; they're quick, visceral, and satisfying, especially now that I've configured the kill cams to my own liking. I've only witnessed the magic kill cam once now and I was less than impressed with the results.

I'd enjoy killcams more if you could choose if they were in first or third person.

Do you have to manually switch back to first person with these new kill cams like happens sometimes with the melee ones?
If so: Argh!

I wish they were...better. There is nothing special about them, as they are just slow-mo, close up versions of a normal attack. At least melee kill cams are unique animations.

Speaking of which, I got a kill cam with a sword/sheild character where he bashes the enemy with his shield a couple of time. I've never gotten this animation with my orc shield brawler! (Shield + Unarmed) It would be so awesome to have that one.

You come across as if that's a bad thing. It's not ;)

Nothing wrong with options. Just because you like/dislike something, or I do, or don't, does not mean everyone will agree. Add an option, and everyone wins. Pretty simple really.

Shame you seem to be the inconsiderate type. As long as your happy, everyone else be damned. Nice. :goodjob:

It's people like you that need ignoring if you ask me. (Meaning I hope the developers see these posts and ignore you, and implement a toggle, again, so everyone wins.)

I quite enjoy them. They don't happen too often for me and whenever they happen it's always nice to see the effect of the shot.

I've only had one happen (I specificalyl tried out a bow to see if I had 1,5 updated on my PC) and I got a 3rd person, 1 meter away kill cam with an arrow that only looked like a quick zoom-out where nothing interesting happened.

As for melee ones, I'm not sure which are the new ones.. I've only played 2 hours on the PC version and only used dual-wielded axes :D

Only in my case, at least, because I'm a pretty easygoing guy and its no skin off my nose if there's a toggle. If you wanted to get rid of them entirely, then there'd be a fight.

Back on subject, the ranged ones aren't as cool as the melee ones but still very enjoyable. definately adds fun to me.

Some of them look great.

Only problem I've found is that sometimes you'll get a kill cam, but actually miss, so when you get back into 1st person a wolf or whatever is jumping for your throat.

that's kinda serious... Ima wait a little while before downloading it

I like the New Killcams. I always hoped for them since the Release of the Skyrim. For the People who are complaining that there should be an Option to turn 3rd Person Killcams off or Turn them off compeletly i suggest using Mods for that. I know that the Mods that where made do not work since the Patch but i think it makes no difference if you have to wait for Bethesda to Update the Game or the modders to Update their Mods. If Bethesda decides to integrate the Option i have nothing against it but it would be sad if they remove the Killcams entirely. Oh and the Problem with the Missing Arrows is the bugged Bullseye Perk. It activates once the Arrow leaves the Bow instead of when the Arrow hits the enemy. This needs to be fixed. Till then i recommend to remove the Perk via Console (PC Version of course)

in this world exists people that play the game on console, MOD is not an answer, just saying...

Had to use "complaining" huh? Couldn't say, requesting, maybe.......a more polite way to approach a conversation. Aaaanyway, moving along.

So, PS3 and 360 users, get on those mod downloads......oh, wait. ;) See the problem with your suggestion? You are excluding a large part of the market leaving it to mods alone to fix it. (I'm on PC and I can use mods, but I'd still like the option for those who can not.)

........but it would be sad if they remove the Killcams entirely.

Not what I, or many are asking for, just the option to turn them off.

If it was Beth's vision to have them optional they would have. Since it's not Beth's vision then I don't want it.

LOL. When you phrase your extremely biased poll with the options of either a simple "yes" or an insulting "no, I like having less choices in TES games" what do you expect? Since you asked in such a jerkish way I answered in the same spirit by voting no. Had you asked a simple yes or no, I would have voted yes even though I personally like the kill cams. Your poll is a joke.

I love the new kill cams, but sometimes the archery one cuts in and then the arrow misses its target.

I've noticed kill cams on a couple of occasions where the enemy was not killed.

Twice I almost killed a bear and the magic kill cam kicked in, but in both cases the bear was still alive and kicking, albeit with very low health.

It seldom happened to me also in the past versions of the game. Now that cams are more frequent, being used also by magic and archery, these events will be more frequent as well.

I had an archery kill cam kick in when I was crouched in the darkness of a bandit cave sniping away. Problem is, the arrow flight shot it right into the wood railing of a ramp walkway due to the usual mesh collision issues (you think you have clear LOS, but a shot actually clips on a terrain feature). Was rather embarassing as well as strange when it goes to the kill shot, and I'm left watching an arrow chunk into a wood support beam, not only NOT getting me a clean kill but alerting the entire group I was trying to stealthily take out as well due to the noise of the arrow impact. Oopsie?

Still, in general they're rather harmless fun I've found. Some of the magic ones such as a lighting bolt can be hilarious as your shots inflict the occasional physics madness on a dead body, so you get to watch in slow-mo as a body goes flying into the stratosphere. Highly entertaining when that happens.
