FORCED 3rd Person again? Bethesda going cosnole totally?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:20 am

Really? Of all the things in this game, this is what you complain about?
Dont want third person horses? Dont ride a horse.
Dont want third person werewolves? Dont be a werewolf.

I myself think its because of global warming. And until you give me a good reason why it isnt, thats how i will see it. /sarcasm.

Well, obviously we can't disprove that the heat caused by global warming didn't irritate the development staff and cause them to stop making the first person animations for werewolf and riding horseback.

So it's a very plausible reason, we can't disprove it without confirmation from Todd Howard, and I'll take his silence as confirmation that we should not complain about consoles or PCs, but how global warming is dumbing down our games!

No. I tried. werewolf only in 3rd... Unless i`m missing something.

Sorry people but there`s a reason why Bethesda are FORCING 3rd person and it has to be to appeal to the console crowd. Give me another reason if you think it isn`t.

It`s ruining the game.

Umm, no. Not at all, actually, because Todd Howard has explicitly stated that he prefers first person and that's why Beth's games have always had really poor third person view. They allowed the option, but it was never any good. They focused on it this time (yes, again, this was stated in interviews for Skyrim) because the community has complained about not being able to see their character and play (basically, it was always one or the other, not both at once, aside from mod attempts to fix third person). The enormous amount of work and time that the community has put into aesthetic modding for bodies as well as apparel caused Todd and Team to rethink their views and focus on offering a halfways decent third person this time (i.e., Skyrim). It still has problems, but at least it sort of works (most of the time).

However, you can see that there is no way that Beth is forcing third person, and they do not even prefer it, in fact.

What does 3rd person have to do with consoles? It's dumb game design, plain and simple.

I find it always funny rather than enter into debate and PROVING wrong, The most that any of you can do is ridicule and basically prove my point.

You even miss the point to do it.

1.) What does forced 3rd person have to do with consoles in any way, shape, or form?

Mindless whining again? Pretty much.

2.) This really is not a big deal. At all. In even the teeniest, tiniest, slightest bit. It's really not.

No one can prove or disprove anything here because it's just some random, subjective whine of yours, there's no debate because there is nothing to debate.

Hey guys, I like Cars, and if you don't you're gay. Gays are responsible for the dumbing down of cars, clearly.

Ok, now let's debate this sensibly, please lets engage in an engrossing, nuanced debate and you can prove me wrong and dispute all the unassailable facts i've provided above.

Shamu has been known to kill his trainers, maybe the lead designer for 1st person animations had an opportunity to swim with him and met a horribly untimely demise, preventing the first person animations for werewolves and riding horseback from ever being created.

I could do this all day people.

Because you are unable to provide any facts that prove your point at all. Therefor, you are a moron for making such a statement, and a tough cookie eh? Stating that makes it obvious that you are not, lol. :bunny:

This is what i don`t understand. I know Todd prefers 1st person.

But why FORCE 3rd person. we have always had BOTH. So why not keep both?

It makes no sense. It`s a first for Bethesda games and going down a rocky road in imho.

You know what I blame the forced third person on? The PC players. That's right I'm blaming the PC players and until you give me a good reason why it isnt, thats how i will see it. You see what I did there? If you can blame us console players without any reason, then I can blame the PC players for it without any reason.

Yes they can, they can give pros and cons of 1st and 3rd views of horses and being a werewolf.

Yea, that's not the way it works.

You don't get to throw any old comment out there as your "theory" and say we have to prove you wrong. You have to actually provide some support for your position before anyone has to provide support to shoot it down. And other than your blanket statement that 3rd person werewolves are the fault of the dreaded CONSOLES, you've provided no support.

Even so, it's been pointed out that Morrowind, a game available on CONSOLE, allowed first person for werewolves. So that kind of shoots down your theory that somehow CONSOLES require third person for werewolves.

So, please, stop.

Cool, well i'll be waiting for when the OP actually does that instead of screaming that he's being forced to play 3rd person and it's all the fault of consoles.

Did you ever prove that removing the choice to be in 1st Person during Wolf/Horse was an actual dumbing down? Did you actually prove it with facts or are you just spouting off a biased opinion?

Because of the simple fact that instead of putting forth a decently built and tangible arguement for as to why this is an issue, your blaming consoles.

I think its the avatar thats winding me up. :shakehead: I'll bow out before i get myself in trouble.

I agree with Blade watcher, I like to get immersed in the game and to play in 1st person. I like to become my character and to see through their eyes. I hate not being able to ride a horse in 1st person, so I dont use one. I hate not being able to be a werewolf in 1st person, so I dont turn into a werewolf. If I could have played a werewolf in 1st person then I am sure I would have had lots of hours enjoying roleplaying as one.

Bethesda didn't use forced 3rd person because of consoles, they chose to use forced 3rd person because, simply, they wanted to. They thought it would make for a better gaming experience and that most people would enjoy it that way. In my opinion they were wrong.

Lets hope they fix it in the next ES game, so that players can always choose whether to go 1st person or 3rd person. Thats what Bethesda games should be about, choice.

TES should be only on the consoles, I mean console sales beat PC sales so why not? :whistling: Only you can prevent platform elitism.

Indeed. Sure, having 1st person would be a great option, but it isn't so big a deal as you make it out to be.
