Not sure what the otehr thing is yet declaring skyrim superior. Sound logic there.
Yes its so great the modders get to fix the flaws and bugs in the game insted of bethesda having to take responsability.

Only a really devoted fan would declare a broken game GOTY. Skyrim is a re roll of oblivion (little has changed) your point ?

Indeed, it isnt even done well. I think I may sell skyrim, I dont usually sell games, but im bored already...

No a sensible person wouldnt supprot a broken game. Whiney 5 year old, so people who cant complete teh MQ nd many otehr quests are whiney 5 year olds ? And the people whos characters re destroyed by the bugs in patch 1.1 are whiney 5 year olds. Seems your cting more childish than them, resorting to name clling for legitimate complaints.

Because its all bout how much time you waste, not how fun a game is. Also seeing s some flks cant even play skyrim that number needs to come down a bit...

All Bethesda does is make a big world to explore, thats it, its been like that since daggerfall. Oblivion even botched making it unique, and in Skyrim dungeons are liner corridors.

Calling them [censored] then saying our forum is better... You dont see any issue with that ? Nothing childish, no feeling of hypocrisy ?

People who keep saying "Zelda is just the same every time" haven't played this one, and it's painfully obvious.
This isn't your Dad's Zelda.
This isn't your childhood's Zelda.
This is a whole new beast, new gameplay, new story, new controls, new graphics.

Skyrim is a beefy, amped up Oblivion - if anyone rehashes the same game every release, Beth hasn't done a whole lot of innovating since Morrowind.

Stop basing your judgment on the franchise as a whole, and base it off the game.

For as childish as you say the game we prefer is, Skyrim fans are acting like the real children in this discussion. I like both games, and see both arguments.
The Zelda fans are not belittling Skyrim, and insulting people who prefer that game.
The same can not be said about Skyrim fans talking about Zelda fans, as they're frequently treated with disrespect, and it's a little bit appalling.

The vast majority of non-quest dungeons (We're talking 75-80% here) are linear, and generic. A lot of people have even claimed seeing carbon-copies of multiple dungeons (I haven't seen this myself.) There isn't a whole lot of uniqueness in Skyrim compared to other games, although it does improve on Oblivion.

I dont agree with the people saying Zelda is a childish game. It may seem a little cartoony but the ones ive palyed ahve been very challenging with nice puzzles.

that said i voted for Skyrim because i love Skyrim. already put in 90 hours of fun and not anywhere close to stopping, specially when they put pu the CS.

On a side note, Ratslayer if you say you dont like a single game Bethesda has put out...why are you on the Bethesda Forums?

and where are you finding these linear corridors? every dungeon ive been in has multiple levels, different paths to take, etc. And the Zelda's ive played are pretty much the same.

oh and saying "All" Bethesda does is make huge gameworlds is like saying all Ferrari does is drive. There is beauty, intrigue, magic, and so much more in Elder Scrolls games. Above all Elder Scrolls games have choice, you can do pretty much anything you want. Sure it may not be an entirely new alien world like Morrowind was. but its damn hard to make entirely new alien worlds like that. Skyrim has plenty to make it unique. Saying theres been hardly anything new since Daggerfall is just the same as saying theres been hardly anything new since the first Halo to the last, or Zelda ocarina of time to SS. Its not going to be a completely new game. they make a type of game, just like Zelda makes a type of game, just like halo makes a type of game.

I have voted for Skyrim as I have grown up with the series and think it’s a brilliant game. I grew up with Zelda as well.... but right from the start I knew what Beth was trying to do with the Elder Scrolls Series. To create massively big roleplaying games that give you complete freedom and immersion that you’re in an epic game world. You can do what you want, you can be what you want, and you can live out your own fantasy story in a strange new world, as with every game in the series.

Not many game companies try to do this. It takes a lot of time, work, effort and it’s never easy prioritising/ improving the series from game to game. Granted, there are bugs, they have taken out some good things about the series in Skyrim, and Zelda is a much more polished product, but I still think after playing both games that Skyrim is better (in my opinion). I like challenge and gameplay, sure, but I like the worlds Bethesda hand craft and the immersion while walking through it. I like the complete freedom where I can choose my own character, and develop him in any way I want. Games are not all about graphics this is true, but the way they implemented flowing rivers, waterfalls, the wind blowing while standing on a mountain top, all of these details just pull me right in.

I suppose in a way, if we compare these games in terms of....well..... being games, then Zelda is probably better. But Skyrim to me is a master piece that not many people appreciate, especially the majority of people posting in this topic it seems.

I think this poll is rigged. I've been casually checking it for the last few days and it flips between 51-49 to 49-51 every so often, but never beyond that point. The votes probably aren't even close, but they want them to be close to drive up web hits.

In all seriousness people i think some of us who wish to teach bethesda a lesson need to change there vote to Skyrim. I know you want to teach bethesda a lesson about releasing a faulty product but think about it losing to a game like skyward sword may seriously damage morale badly over at bethesda. Besides i think barely winning will send just as big of a message for them to get there act together. I ask you all to look past the bugs and glitches. Does a game like Skyrim really deserve to be the first elder scrolls to not receive game of the year?

Don't get me wrong I love the game and have already spent over 100 hours on it, and after mods I'll spend hundreds more. However the fact remains that WITHOUT mods I wouldn't even be able to play right now, or map keys to the numpad. I haven't hit to many bugs but others have. Well it only proves that the majority of g4's fanbase are the stereotypical female gamers and/or a bunch of kids.

Afterall, the story is weak sauce to say the least, combat is very basic, puzzles are 'okey' but there are much better puzzle games, bosses are meh... there's plenty of mmo's and sp games who have better boss fights, and there's nothing innovative, cartoony artwork & aestetics (sp?) And that's pretty much across all Zelda games.

If you like Zelda, good for you.
But saying that Zelda is better then Skyrim is the equivalent of saying u'd rather go to sleep with your teddybear instead of a hot woman.
Wich i would understand, if u didnt hit puberty yet.
And again, if u like Zelda or if ur f.ex 30y old and u still only play pokemon... awesome, good for you, great !
But dont come and say that it's the better game to attempt to justify why your playing a kid's game.

Righttttttt....

Shouts are cool sure, but nothing more than magic casted by your voice. Heck a few of the shouts are spells that were REMOVED from the game.

Sure we get runes and flame/ice/lighting thrower but those spells are good for a maximum of 10 levels, maybe 15 pushing it. The cost of those new effects?

Limited spells. Gone are the days of dozens of spells to choose from, now you have 2 or 3 that are useful to your level. Using that fancy flamethrower or rune at level 30+ is pointless since spells don't scale.

Spell Making. The above wouldn't have been so bad (or even an issue) if we were allowed to make custom spells of our own and scale the basic spells up but alas that was removed in favor of streamlining. We have the spells Bethesda gave us and that it. Once you pass a certain level your old spells are useless. End of story.

Death animations are cool sure but does that warrent GotY? No. Death animations were also previously done on Oblivion via Deadly Reflexes. That's what inspired Bethesda in fact IIRC.

Marriage... really? You're going to bring up marriage as something awesome? Marriage consists of doing a tiny quest for your mate, buying and amulet, then asking them to get married. She/he says yes, there's a little ceremony you choose a house and..... yep. That's it. That NPC is still as boring as every other NPC only now they call you love and give you a pie and gold. Wow. That's awesome isn't it? Surly that deserved GotY right?

Yeah that's what I thought.

Next time try to be a little less of a devoted fan eh?
