Boy you are full of opinions, but I see no proof in your paranoia. Exactly how is Game Booster malware??? I want facts, links, references.
Okay.

How's that? Free software comes at a price unless you're pretty careful. While Gamebooster itself indeed doesn't sound like it itself is nefarious, the suppliers of the software have some nefarous stuff piggy-backing along with it.

Now, beyond all of this when it comes to things like 3rd party 'performance enhancers' that operate on such general levels they've largely become redundant to what the OSes do themselves and so you'll often see those programs and their authors heading into sketchier waters to turn a profit (if they're profit oriented, FOSS and the like tend to be safer bets for sure). Its not so much that I'm paranoid just I increasingly see little point to bothering with such software when it doesn't really do much and if something like this booster thingy means the difference of playing games consistently vs the system barfing on you I'd say its only a band-aid over a much more gaping problem with the system.

It's a scamware. Don't use it.

LOL. Skyrim crashed only twice on my PC. Both times i had Gamebooster running in the background. No crashes without it.

Is it at all possible that Riva Tuner's OSD that MSI Afterburner uses is what may be causing my random CTD?
Or Spybot (no tea timer no extraneous install just the program for sweeps, scheduler is off)?

The only two things on my HDD that I can think would conflict. I set the Riva Tuner to stealth mode after the last CTD.....no idea if that would help or not.

If you're willing to do your homework then you can manually disable many of the services and programs that Windows sets to load by default (or that set themselves to load by default when installed), and that's probably going to help you out more than relying on a program to do it for you. Killing off things like Windows NetBIOS/file sharing will also help (assuming that you don't use it), although that requires changing configurations in several places. You really do need to know what you're doing though, especially if you want to alter the Services section of Windows. Many of those services can safely be turned off (and doing so will improve your system security along with your system performance), but disabling the wrong things can kill the OS. At the very least, make sure you have a reliable guide handy before you start tinkering with those.

On the other hand, pretty much anyone can look through their task bar list and set the programs' configuration/preferences to not load on startup.
