Game series that are perfect

Post » Sun Jun 26, 2011 12:02 am

Basically this is a thread where i want people list game series (or i guess just any game) that they think is next to perfect. ill give you my example

assassins creed- I love the series ive played all of them and if the series started releasing games annual i would be perfectly ok with that. (normally i hate that) .the game has a good combination of action and story to keep me completely immersed for hours at a time.Lots of people said that the game was to easy and at the surface i would agree, combat could be a little MORE than taping x and i dont think i died more than once or twice, but if you try to get 100% completion on the missions then the game can be BRUTAL. the only tweeks i would make to the game is minor: combos go back to the way they were in ac1 (you had to hit the attack button right as your and your enemy sword collide, easy to learn hard to master), more incentive to be stealth/stealth missions (ac1 if you got caught you would have a hard time completely fighting your way out of situations, you hit your target then get out of there).

Mass Effect has the best storyline I've ever seen so far, I hope they don't screw it up with the third.

Golden Sun is also an amazing series, although its latest entry is.... disappointing.

Elder Scrolls of course is definitely one of the best series, I like how they haven't limited themselves to a trilogy, and the quality of the games is always amazing.

Starcraft would be a good series as well if the didn't decide to split the second chapter into 3 parts for the sake of being greedy bastards. Time will only tell if Diablo will have a similar money making scheme.

I honestly can't think of a single game series that even comes close to perfection. In fact, every single game i've played (and i've played a lot) has been flawed in one way or another.

I'd say the TES series after Oblivion, not really a series yet but Skyrim comes out soon :D

Yeah Morrowind was terrible and I'm not even going to attempt to try Daggerfall since it just looks awful

Fair enough. Stating 'Morrowind was terrible' as opposed to 'I disliked Morrowind' will likely illicit similar knee-jerk reactions as my own around here.

And thanks. Tyrion is awsome. Even when he's being creepy.

Even if you are serious, that doesn't mean that those games don't count as a part of the ES series. Which is what your post seemed to imply.

I can think of a bunch of series that would be near perfect if I could have selective amnesia concerning some of their installments.

I've enjoyed the Half Life series (though haven't yet finished HL 1). If Portal can be counted as a series with just two games, then that also.
Also say the TES series, though have barely played Arena or Daggerfall yet, but I enjoyed what I did play of them so far.

I have also so far enjoyed what I have played of the Fallout series (played 3 and FNV, started Fallout 1 but haven't started 2 yet), so that will probably be added to my list... though due to the crashes I experienced with the two newer games I wouldn't put them as high up the subjective "perfect" list as the others.

Everyone's definition of a perfect game, let alone series, is different... the game that came to closest to my idea of perfect was Deus Ex, but that definitely, definitely isn't a series until the second, not third, game in the series comes out in August.

I can't think of a single complete series that I loved. Specific games sure, but not a whole series.
