Games you want to see Bethesda do

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 2:26 am

Modern guns and cities + magic + swords.

There was a game, I think it was called Shadowrun. Didn't do good, I am sure if flopped big time. Then again see what happens when you have no Single Player and everything is based on Multiplayer. I don't care for current Fighter Games, when it's just basically Missles to take everyone down. Shooting with bullets or lasers in a good old dog fight is so much fun. I would like to see something like Crimsion Skies again.

I would love to see a good old fashion Air combat game, like the old WWII games or Star Wars X-wind vs Tie Fighters. Not sure if Bethesda could do it, but would like to see them try something different.

So...Shadowrun...? For some reason I wouldn't want to see that franchise put in Bethesda's hands. Not sure why. I would LOVE a Shadowrun game done correctly, though. So far nobody has come close to doing the setting justice, IMO. I'm talking about the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowrun, now, not any of the video games. I'm still amazed that nobody has tried to make a decent, modern cRPG with the IP, though. It's a fantastic fantasy/cyberpunk setting with a ridiculous amount of pre-existing content.

More like Far Cry 2 + magic + RPG elements.

And aside from TES VI, my other choice is likely unpopular. I'd like to see a open world single player Middle Earth game, TES/FO3 style. I know alot of people would hate this saying that LoTR has been over done. And maybe there something like this in LotR Online, but I don't play multiplayer games. And I haven't seen many good LotRs games. So that's my choice, but I suspect few others would like it. No worries though because it pretty certainly won't happen.

Agreed. That's something I've been longing for is a decent Middle-Earth open world game, majority of LotR games nowadays are action adventure. Too bad Bethesda don't have the rights to make such a game, oh well. :sadvaultboy:

A TES-style open-world game set in middle-earth would be a dream come true for me. In fact i'm amazed someone hasn't attempted it yet. Like you say, there's action-adventure games, MMOs, strategy games, etc. but no open-world RPG which is arguably the genre of game best suited to LotR.

Bethesda have a very strong fantasy franchise in TES, so even if they could obtain the rights, the chances of them ever attempting such a project is extremely unlikely... which is a shame, because they're the developers i'd trust most to do it right.

I have wanted to see them do an open ended world style of DOOM since Zenimax bought IDSoftware. Go from the surface of Mars to the depths of HELL!!! Sarge could either be wearing a rebreather on the surface or he can just breath Mars atmosphere since he has been there so long, his system has mutated.

Other than TES VI and FO4 maybe a Western. I can see that fitting sandbox play quite well.
I probably wouldn't want to see them doing games based on Glorantha or Pendragon despite them being m favourite PnP settings. Neither are suited to Bethesdas style IMO.

My first thoughts exactly. A modern Shadowrun RPG would be awesome, but I think Bethesda should stick with TES.

This.
I think the best Shadowrun video game ever made was for the SNES, which is indeed very sad.

The SNES one was too linear and had poor RPG elements, I think the Genesis version is much better.

I can't believe with all the background and potential, the best modern adaption they could come up with was an online FPS.

Another idea I had was a game like TES set in a very dark fantasy setting like Hunted. An open-world RPG with a really dark atmosphere and creepy, blood thirsty monsters... That would be awesome.

I always wanted to see some kind of open world game with an apocalyptic or post apocalyptic setting thats NOT a nuclear war. Like, a freak climate change like in Day After Tomorrow or something like that with a constant need to find food, shelter, and warm clothing. There'd be feral animals, falling ice, enemy scavengers youd have to fight, itd be cool (pun not intended)

Isn't that exactly what RAGE is? To be released in September.

Skyrim, and maybe Hammerfell. They should stick to what they are good at, and that's TES.

THIS!

Really! I never played the Genesis version, I had assumed that they were essentially the same. I choose the SNES because it had more buttons. More buttons was really important to me after renting and playing Outlander on both Genesis and SNES. I guess I need to find myself an old Genesis.

I was so excited when the new Shadowrun came out, only to have my hopes and dreams crushed in the store when I picked up the box and saw what it had become.

I want them to make good games, that's all.

Mostly I want them to work on their weaknesses, mainly writing, storytelling and player choice/decision making with actual consequences that matter. They've gotten gradually better at it, I want to see them put more effort into improving their weaknesses, we already know what they do well, I'd rather see them do well on everything rather than them being great at a few things.

They're vastly different, but both good games. I think this is a pretty good comparison of them:

Bethesda would be perfect for the next Nascar game.

But, seriously, I've always thought it'd be awesome if they made a game set in the present-day real world. It'd be awesome.

I'd like them to make Elder Scrolls games and not waste time on other IPs.

I'd like them to drop TES and spend more time on making a really good Fallout 4

I'd rather they'd stick with TES, as making those seems to be their strongest point, and leave other games for other developers.

I'd love to play a high seas/pirates and privateers type open world first or third person RPG with ship battles and such. It would be even better if they combined these elements with their next Elder Scrolls title. Otherwise, I'd love to see a similar type game set in space.

It would be interesting to see Beth come up with a new IP. I think they could do a Sci fi RPG really well.
