Games you want to see Bethesda do

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 10:53 am

So one thing that separates Bethesda from any other developer is the amount of freedom in their games. It's amazing to have a huge open world and be able to go wherever you want and do whatever you want...

So I ask you, what kind of genres/settings would you like to see Bethesda tackle?

For me, I'd really like to see a fantasy rpg that takes place in feudal japan... Sort of like TES, but in a different setting.... Another game I'd like to see is maybe a superhero rpg like City of Heroes but without the MMO. Just a single player game where you have a gigantic city to exlpore and the choice to be either a hero or a villain.

What about you guys? What other kind of games would you like to see from Bethesda?

Skyrim, and maybe Hammerfell. They should stick to what they are good at, and that's TES.

Battletech RPG with entire Inner Sphere (or at least the most famous planets) to explore.

I want to see Bethesda get the license for a Song of Ice and Fire RPG. A free-roaming sandbox RPG in Westeros? I would never leave the house again.

So...Shadowrun...? For some reason I wouldn't want to see that franchise put in Bethesda's hands. Not sure why. I would LOVE a Shadowrun game done correctly, though. So far nobody has come close to doing the setting justice, IMO. I'm talking about the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowrun, now, not any of the video games. I'm still amazed that nobody has tried to make a decent, modern cRPG with the IP, though. It's a fantastic fantasy/cyberpunk setting with a ridiculous amount of pre-existing content.

I'd like them to make Elder Scrolls games and not waste time on other IPs.

But that's pretty much just TES.

Call of Duty
Love Plus
Naruto FPS

They should do a cyberpunk game, without carrying over anything from The Elder Scrolls or Fallout 3. A semi-open world, Blade Runner-esque (though not actually Blade Runner, leave that IP alone) RPG.

Or, just stick to what your fans want.

Assuming they decided to do such a thing I would certainly like a game with their take on the game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000_Roleplay with a bit more emphasis on the main plot and the use of companion characters. Where you may explore different planets to some extent but much more so then say ME1/2, plenty in the way of RPG elements, and for the first time in a videogame (spess mehrens anyone) a decent portrayal of life in the Imperium down to the citizen capturing in a more refined way the feeling and tone of the setting that it takes place in. Rather then say a focus on spaces marines though you would encounter them on rare occasions, instead there would be a greater focus on the Inquisition and its sub-factions along with the seedier elements of the Imperium. That and more choices involved but honestly the game would be more linear and Bethesda's talents with open worlds would be better spent elsewhere like TES.

Cyberpunk

or maybe something like http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/battlecruisermillennium/review.html?tag=summary%3Bread-review, only one that doesn't svck. I think the review score was actually higher than the game deserved.

Its just a what if thing, completely not serious or realistic.

I'd like a western RPG or a modern day post-apocalyptic survival RPG.

If I had to pick another IP, for Bethesda (note that I'd prefer if they just stuck to TES and Fallout, for the moment at least) it would probably be one set in space, or a Western.

The one set in space would be awesome if done right. I don't know how well it would fit with Bethesda's open world style though, as most likely it would just be multiple smaller worlds. The Western doesn't really need an explanation, really.

Have to agree with the OP, something like Tenchu done right maybe, Ninja+Samurai+Yakuza+Creation Engine sounds pretty good to me. Would need convoluted politics, and a fairly deep honour/duty system.

I'd love to see Bethesda take anything and turn it into gold, but I don't want anything getting in the way of TES and Fallout. All it would do is just increase the time between games in each series. Now if Bethesda were to stop making TES or Fallout, and chaos was brought upon the world as a result, I wouldn't mind seeing them do a space rpg. Not like Mass Effect though, more like TES or Fallout, just on a wild alien planet.

I also wouldn't mind a more realistic game from sometime in Earth's actual history. Not sure what period I would want though. One thing I would like to see, which could happen in Fallout, is a game where you actually have a real impact on establishing a civilization in a destroyed or new world.

An Elder Scrolls game the size of Daggerfall (or at least close) with improved graphics and detail (obviously not to Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim standard). If they could hit that middleground between Daggerfall's realistic scale, and the detail of newer games, that would potentially be the best ever Elder Scrolls game.

This.
I think the best Shadowrun video game ever made was for the SNES, which is indeed very sad.

I have actually been hoping for a Star Trek RPG from Bethesda as they already have some Star Trek licensed games. I think they could pull it off. You start by picking your race, Human (Imperial), Vulcan (High Elf), Klingon (Orc), Ferengi (Kajit), ect. And then you go through a tutorial type of beginning at Starfleet Academy where, depending on your choices, you get awarded a Red, Gold or Blue uniform that denotes your class/primary skill set. You then work your way up the chain of command to become Captain of your own ship. Or you could flunk out of Starfleet at the very beginning and have to get work on a trash hauler but you can work your way up to Captain of a merchant vessel, or a pirate vessel if you choose.

Drag racing games :hehe:

I actually kinda liked that game.

elder scrolls VI

Yes.

And aside from TES VI, my other choice is likely unpopular. I'd like to see a open world single player Middle Earth game, TES/FO3 style. I know alot of people would hate this saying that LoTR has been over done. And maybe there something like this in LotR Online, but I don't play multiplayer games. And I haven't seen many good LotRs games. So that's my choice, but I suspect few others would like it. No worries though because it pretty certainly won't happen.
