NCR ranger combat armor has 20DT while the normal Caeser's legion armor has 18DT both at fully repaired, I think I'd rather stick to my reinforced leather armor so I don't get attacked randomly...

Go into the Silver Rush with a Stealthboy or two, clean the tabletops and shelves of all their loot and then trade it in at The Gun Runners for some Reinforced Combat Armor Mk. II. Same stats as the Combat armor, only without the faction paranoia.

I honestly don't care about stats, I'm in it for the aesthetics and reinforced leather armor looks way cooler than combat armor. I might try it out some time if I come against a death claw or something.

hmm.. ive noticed karma doesnt affect much in this game. its all about rep. you could be a saint to one group, and satan to the other, and no one cares.

I'm thinking that Karma affects things on a much lower level than rep. Seems to me that people change what they have to say around you depending on karma. Like they know whether you are good or evil. Or, I could just be wrong, which is very possible.

I love it, personally. The world isn't black and white, so why should ours?

Or just have Cass in your party while doing their quests. I won't spoil exactly how she catalyzes you getting everything in that store, but she does.

You can't really judge Caesar's Legion by contemporary values. The wastelands are certainly more like what the world during the times of the real Caesar than the world today.

NCR is not entirely good and Legion is not entirely bad. NCR wants to gain control to bring "order", but they mainly just want everyone under their control. Legion is more controlling of the people they take over and definitely impose their will, but many would consider them more moral since they actively combat the vices of the people. NCR most likely wants a democracy, so I can see most agreeing with them since most of us on here live in one so it clearly is the best. :P

No sane person would consider the legion more moral, so what they hate vices like gambling and drugs?
Lets review they invaded the town of Nipton and held a lottery the lottery was to determine what horrible way you died, the second place winner had his legs crushed, the first place winner was allowed to run free. Another act of genocide was to set of a bomb that vaporized most of a towns population and the only survivals became feral ghouls.

New Vegas definitely is a return to that "morally ambiguous" format that the first two Fallout games were so much about. One thing that I never got comfortable with in Fallout 3 was the idea of there being really only two choices: Be a saint or be an [censored]. Neutral wasn't about decision making, it was about balancing out the murder and kleptomania with cap donations and keeping beggars up to their eyes in pure water. With New Vegas, the old karma system is still there, but it's more about saying "Yeah, you're being good/bad," but it doesn't carry the same weight it did. What does now is reputation, which can get you ammo, can open up quest options, can lead to discounts, and can even get you keys to safehouses that provide you with convenient hideouts away from major cities.

And come on, who doesn't like the idea of playing two sides against each other while you're reaping all the rewards and none of the drawbacks?

Well said. If you talk to Vulpes in detail while in Nipton, the reasoning behind the attack is fairly interesting and the town was chock full of powder gangers and other degenerates. The whole situated reminded me a lot of the Clint Eastwood film High Plains Drifter. Also, the attack on Camp Searchlight where they were turned into ghouls...that was a military encampment, not a town.

NCR are messed up they are very aryan, in a weak format.
Anyone that is not under NCRs protection, or a citizen of the NCR, is crap.
Go to Freeside, go look at the town that was over-run by powder-gangers.
Tell me they are saints?
At least Caesar let's anyone into his ranks, and he wants to take everyone under his wing.
So KiZarr is more saintly, in that view.
He is less discriminatory.

How is Caesar less discriminatory? He makes all woman slaves.

And what was Nipton before the Legion showed up? The mayor was whoring out the women of the town to the NCR troops and Powder Gangers alike, keeping the lion's share of the caps for himself, and jumped at the opportunity to make even more by tricking both groups into being in town when the Legion showed up. It's not as though the Legion burst in on a church social and began nailing people to crosses.

I'm actually enjoying this....

Now I'm happy killing *ssholes simply because they are *ssholes, instead of being actually rewarded for it. Only sorry there isn't a perk to 'make people talk', I could see some real benefit for it in an amoral game.

Edit:

And this attitude is only heightened when I see justification for Legion behaviour in Nipton.....still, guess it takes all types.

I love how Caesar is quite modern in his outlook when you actually speak to him. He seems like another raider chieftain, until you have the opportunity to ask him how and why the Legion is the way it is. It's really all about creating a truly alien identity to unite warring tribes under, you see. The Legion is actually no different than House's creation of the Three Families, intentionally stripping peopler of their tribal identities and rebuilding an entire culture.

im almost done with my first playthrough of NV, and ive noticed theres no longer any clear cut "good" or "bad" choices. its all just shades of gray. needless to say, this has me thinking a lot more about the choices i make, as opposed to FO:3 where you instantly knew what you had to do to be the good guy. im liking this, what is everyone elses opinion?

there are no good people there are no evil people either.

there are only people who do things that other people judge.....

that is how it is in life, why not in games.

there are two sides to every argument just like a coin.

both sides lie.

might as well take up a shot gun and go kill some brotherhood fools for Saint Sony, you get a reward from him if you die in the process

I'm fine with it

This, in my opinion, is a good thing. There is no good or evil only perspective and shades of gray. Its more realistic. I think more devs should make games with a similar morality system.
