grounded?!?!?!

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 12:21 pm

He hasn't even said why he is grounded yet you are all assuming it was for a perfectly reasonable reason. Anyone considered the decision to ground him was a irrational one made after a minor incident such as not sharing religious views with his parents or because he forgot to brush his hair or any other such reasons ? (Yeah it does happen... never been grounded myself but I know those who have and I know what kind of parents they have had)

I would try to level with your mother through reason. Discuss why she feels you deserve to be grounded and point out where she may have it wrong, if you think on it hard and you come to the self-realization that it is not her but in fact you who did something wrong or irrational then I guess you have to just svck it up and take your punishment like a young individual.

Please, there's no reason for that attitude :( We have no idea what happened, so the most constructive contribution we can come with is helping the guy out - that is, assuming that what he did has nothing to do with Skyrim, but that'd be odd. And pretty malevolent of his mother.

Parents are teachers, not gods. They shouldn't dictate, but reason and educate. And being a parent is, in itself, not synonymous with complete authority.

You're right. OP, don't take what I said seriously. It was posted in jest. My son does get grounded a lot, but only because he hasn't learned sincerity when he apologizes. What had been posted before my post about thinking about what you did and where you were wrong is sound advice. It'd certainly work on me.

Um. If you're young enough to be grounded, I doubt you're old enough to be playing this game, let alone picking it up in store by yourself.

Gutted.

I turned 17 last week. Payed with it with my money and drove with my car.

My mom grounded me and took my xbox 360 only a few days before the biggest game of the year comes out. I have the game pre-ordered and fully paid for so all I need to do is pick it up tomorrow. I dont know how long she will keep it from me...it could be days, weeks, months...what do I do to cope?

OMG YOUR LIFE IS OVER! HAVE YOU CALLED CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES???

Edit: This thread is obviously [censored], hence my facetiousness.

Out of curiousity - what did you do?

What did you do?

It'd help if we knew what you did to get grounded.

What are you grounded for?

I require more information, why were you grounded?

Just tell us what you got grounded for.

*no response*

Guess his mum took his internet too.

EDIT: *looks at next post* NVM...

I was grounded because my room was pretty messy not gonna lie and she told me to clean it before I drove to a nearby town (4 Hour Drive) to see a concert. I came back and my xbox was gone. Pretty juvenile I know but she still thinks im 9...

So you were grounded for not cleaning your room? How cliché! You'll get your stuff back soon; maybe you'll make a post about it. I'll be too busy playing Skyrim to notice.

It is 17 and above , so it's fair that is he grounded. He shouldn't be playing those games anyway.

He is 17 though.

Now now. Just because we're lucky enough to enjoy Skyrim to our hearts content all weekend long doesn't mean we should make Suffca feel bad about it. I mean Monday is a looooooong time away, it's bad enough that he has to wait until then without us banging on about how awesomely great it is and how we're having such a ridiculously good time playing it.

Hey Suffca - hate to be you.

No problem. After all, you'll be playing Skyrim soon so you probably won't even remember. However, for people like the OP and Suffca, they'll remember it for days. I feel sorry for them. :(

Edit: It might even drive them mad, the fact you got away with a double post. Ever read that short story about the guy with the raven eye or whatever? I'm not trying to worry you Evilfish, but you could end up under the floorboards of one of them. Maybe even both.

Edit edit: It's the Tell Tale Heart I was thinking of.
