The reward is the satisfaction that you completed the game on hardcoe mode. No prize is greater than that :P

Not true for me. Going back to normal was a relief. One hour sleep in a bed healing you and fixing those crippled limbs? I'll take that *any* day.

I got crippled so many countless [censored] times that I wanted to abandon the hardcoe game altogether. I'd be fully healed, but my limbs must have been still in bad shape. One shot and [censored] bam, my goddamned head is crippled when I'm in a Nightcrawler den. Then the legs and then I'm dead.

Nope. I hate hardcoe. Never go back to it.

I'd never consider myself a hardcoe player, in fact most games I would play on easy level because I'm just not into fighting every 2 minutes, but it's hardcoe mode that's keeping me playing this game, the fact my character has to eat, drink and sleep really adds depth when role playing.
Finally I have to watch my inventory weight, be sure I'm carrying water for long treks and so on.
I once thought as you, but I can never go back to normal mode, 1 hour sleep for miraculous healing just don't do it for me anymore.

I thought the reward for completing hardcoe mode was you get a patch that stopped your game from freezing. :hubbahubba:

But really, I was hoping for something more but expected the achievement. The T shirt would have been a nice touch.

I don't think it is that annoying, considering it doesn't effect how i actually play the game.

I was hoping for a purple gun with an extra mod socket.

The HC mode is really still very easy though, at bit more fun and better modded on PC ofc.

Although I did once die of dehydration waiting 3 days for the vendors to refresh :S

Do you mean a gun that's purple or a gun that's extremely rare? I think it'd be sweet to have a purple colored .38 Special revolver.

How did you got yourself crippled so many times on any game difficulty? I am 80+ hours in HC/VH and haven't got crippled even once, and i died only once at level 2 from bunch of Giant Radscorpions (lvl 27 now).

Even on this difficulty game is quite easy.

it seems like an expansion pack rather than something new entirely...also the story isn't as awesome as fallout 3's...fallout 3..i felt more in tune with the whole atmosphere of nuclear holocaust..i know new vegas wasn't hit by nukes or anything..but that aspect of "holy [censored]..what if this happened.." was missing from the gameplay in my opinion. i wanted to make another crazy clubbin' video for fallout new vegas..but the characters aren't as memorable nor are the situations..my first video for fallout 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXs4OX4j0oU was just crazy..i can't replicate it in any way with vegas..

Completing FNV on hardcoe isnt anything special and doesnt really deserve a reward in my opinion.

This. I like hardcoe mode and play it, but any game where you get infinite, flexible reloads is not an achievement to beat.

I, like many others, didn't watch the interviews or read the forums about the game before hand. The reward did sound like something substantial or meaningful in the game. After getting this achievement, other than the game complexity, there is almost NO reward for suffering through these extra steps! What, Well rested XP bonus, is that it? The gamer should be encouraged to play on this mode. I expected a New Game+, or a starting perk for new games as a reward. "Reward" itself must be something meaningful to the player, and achievements don't help squat. I felt the more in depth character detail, and it was certainly alot more work to have to watch out for your companions so carefully. All these additions only involve the player more, and that is outstanding. BUT that word "reward" made it seem like something might actually be effected in the game somewhere. I thought that the wording about hardcoe at the start was misleading.

You're doing it wrong. Healing does not fix limbs. Un-crippling a limb with a doctor's bag still leaves it at 1 HP. You need to use either a hydra, or more doctor's bags, to fix up limb health. Sorry if that's sooo complicated.

Plus, you're supposed to try to avoid getting hurt in the first place :P not run around like it's an FPS.

I think it's a good thing that your biggest complaint about NV isn't bugs or freeplay after the end, but that there's no hardcoe reward. :P

Frankly I was rather surprised that the OP didn't say something to that effect.

If you guys didn't read the interviews, then how do you know about the reward??

Besides, it seems people on xbox boast about their achievement points, and try to impress people about how much they have. Isn't that achievement worth 100? And i know it is a gold trophy.

Because it says there is a reward when you beat hardcoe mode. Did you not read that when leaving Docs house?

In the earlier previews they claimed the player would get a special reward, but didn't mention an achievement, so that's what I expected. I was greatly disappointed.

Luckily for me, modders can mod away almost any stupid little annoyance like that... so I present to you, the reward I award myself for beating the game on hardcoe mode:

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35176

Was well worth the effort.

You guys are right. Clearly, the average player reads all developer interviews to find out as many spoilers as possible, prior to playing the game. What was i thinking avoiding spoilers, reading the prompt that said i would get a reward (and it did make it sound like hell of a lot more than an achievement), and selecting it since i felt it would be worth the hassle of drinking water every 5 minutes.

Well it wasn't.

"Average" players, the ones you're saying that don't read interviews or find any info on the game, aren't normally the ones playing "hardcoe" mode. It's just the silly "no spoilers" crowd that avoid any info and then scream about the disappointment of going into hardcoe mode when they don't like the reward. So your argument doesn't really fly.

Don't get me wrong, I think the reward is crappy as well, but they never lied. An achievement is still a reward. Everyone's opinion on how special it is will wildly vary. You took a risk that the reward was something awesome and you lost. Sorry about that.
