I'm happily willing to pay for DLC's BUT please fixadd some

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 4:28 am

Today I heard/read/watched about the possible upcoming DLCs (for free or pay, does not matter). First impression looks good but I would be happy to see some basic things fixed/added (or announced to be fixed in the future) before I would pay for any upcoming content. I don't talk about (quest) bugs (which can be either fixed in future patches or by the users themself, at least for the PC...) but for example the following things that are up to now neither patched in the game nor in the game at default and sometimes I ask myself why because In my opinion that are some basics.
Also some of them seem to be hardcoded and can't be changed by CK (or with large effort) beside the fact that it would only apply to the PC users then.

- No proper way to switch between Dual Wielding and (Dual) casting. Why there is no way to switch without opening at least the favourites menue? Neither we can switch back to dual weapons with using two favourite hotkeys nor we can assign a dual wild hotkey

- General equipment behavior for followers. Armor rating is all that counts. So I am neither able to "abuse" my robe wearing caster follower as a mule nor I am able to give my (caster) follower a better enchanted robe then he/she already wears. I don't care if more features come with DLC but the mentioned things are pretty basic

- CK: script/methods get/set functions for basic item/object features. For example ingame or also editable with CK item/object editor: enchantment points on weapons. If you have a look at the CK scripts, there is no way to get access to those things. Pretty sad

I guess there are more but that are "game ruiners" for me that beside the fact I really spend some time with Skyrim prevent me for further digging in. They are completely unrelated to any balance or in reference to the dual wielding issue expectable

PS.: I hope this is the correct sub-forum, if not feel free to move it ;)

Those are really "game ruiners" for you?

If the armor your follower is wearing can't be lowered to your preference and the game is ruined because of it...man.....maybe video games just aren't for you

This is literally one of the exact things that they showed in the Game Jam video. You're able to 'favorite' your followers gear, which I'm assuming means they will wear it over anything else. Not saying this means it will be added, obviously.

Only three things bug me about skyrim, why can't there be a save just before you leave the cave in character Creation, like in FO3/FO:NV/Oblivion? Having to do all that every time I start a new character bugs the [censored] out of me, I know the script off the top of my head.

Why can't I change my characters hair or warpaint after character creation? I remember a lot of people [censored]ed about this same issue on the FO:NV board, same thing. I understand you shouldn't able to change features and scars as that would be silly.

Dragons, I'm absolutely sick to the back teeth with dragons, Ive done the MQ I've pimped out all my shouts I have lots of heavy and light dragon Armour I have a pile of bones in the corner of my house, PLEASE, stop with the friggen dragons.

That said however these are only minor issues that probably would not bother other players at all, just weirdos like me :bunny:

You would rather be prevented from doing stuff no one is forcing you to do than, say for example, tell your followers what gear to equip? Really?

Not sure how I made anything up....humm you state in your last paragraph "game ruiners"

I guess by "game ruiners" you did not mean things that ruin the game for you...my mistake...bad assumption on my part

I wouldn't mind a smith and alchemy revise i think its pretty boring and chugging potions.... back in the day when you drank a potion it took a turn... I would actually prefer Class trees instead of skill trees like the Warrior class skill tree so its more specialized in characters but thats my opinon and it might be easy to mod in im going to go check right now!

Oh?

Is that why quite a good number of people are bringing up issues regarding balance?

Is that also why Bethesda is planning on releasing updates and patches to fix balancing problems?
You people are acting like Bethesda is forcing you to abuse smithing and enchanting. You were given a choice, whether you want to become OP or not is entirely up to you.I think most of you complain just for the sake of complaining.

Thank you for speaking out of your mouth using common sense.
fixed. it's really not that hard, let me break down some elementary math for you. roughly 2000 people visit these forums daily. out of those 2000 people, how many of them make threads about how OP their character becomes? using the search function, there has only one (1) (uno, just so we're clear) made in the last 2 days. Yeah, it's a huge issue. Now, let's combine those facts with how many people bought the game. The game has sold over 35 million copies at this point. Look it up, there's this thing called google. So out of 35 million people, 2000 visit these forums. out of those 2000, 1 person has cared enough to make a thread about it in the last 2 days. Huge issue.

And yet Bethesda is still going to re~balance the game via updates and patches.

Seems like it was a big enough issue for them.

Please link me your source where Bethesda admitted that what they PREVIOUSLY said (which was that it's intended) was false, and that they were going to make it so you couldn't become overpowered. please link that source for me bud. By bethesda, btw. I'd love to read that. oh wait, it doesn't exist. joke. by rebalancing, they more than likely mean how fast the skills level, because you can level bs to 100 by making iron daggers. that's the only mechanic that's broken in this entire situation.

lol, now you want linked sources.

Use your "common sense" Google friend and search through Bethesda's Blog.

i have read every single bethesda blog since may of 2011. i'm on their facebook, like a boss. they've never once mentioned or even remotely insinuated that they thought their game was unbalanced in the sense that the crafting skills are implemented incorrectly. try again.

A lot of that stuff they showed, we shouldn't have to pay for. If they put it all together in a pack, it still wouldn't be worth it. Modders can do the same things for free. Really, it's the kind of stuff that should just come as "extras" in an expansion or patch.

What about adding the option to forge arrows? I'm fed up of only being able, if ever, to find a Fletcher who sells more than 10 Daedric Arrows.....

Another thing that should have been released with the retail copy.

Don't laugh at me but the thing that really upsets me is grass not receiving any shadows which mostly looks totally wrong and drives me crazy sometimes, hehe. But I think it's really one of those "basic features" and should be fixed/implemented in the future. Unless there is some major technical limitation in the engine of course. Never seen a game with dynamic shadowing and grass shining while being covered by shadow, though...
How's that for nitpicking!

Nope modders cant.. currently we cant make skill trees from scratch we must edit the ones provided.

Oh and citing common sense is hilarious coming from a guy who doesn't understand the concept of saving.

And the sad part is is that you people are acting like you would have an actual problem with these things being balanced.
That's because I would have a problem.Limitations of enchanting in Morrowind is what made me mod that game.

was in the shower broham. but yea, you didn't reply to my last post, so what's your point? and no offense, but i have a huge hunch that you're going to just spew tears over this comment anyway lol..but you are arguing like someone who thinks he's important because you think you're entitled to the game being a certain way, which it wasn't, and now your attitude is that of "skyrim isn't complete, it's broken, unbalanced". that's annoying. not only is it annoying, it's also not true, at all. the game was as good as they could make it be with the time limit they set, and it's a pretty enjoyable game overall.
