I can survive a week with a bag full of skooma!
+1

I like the heal over time mechanic that NV used with chems in hard core. The limb damage wouldnt translate but the instant potions in Skyrim are kind of lame.

survival would be a wonderful addition, especially given the wildlife and abundance of water around. maybe they could add in a campsite option as well?

Heh, but that's the thing, it really doesn't mean "hard." It's a realism mode. I'm all for it, if it's optional.

Some aspects of FNV's hardcoe mode are already present in Skyrim, such as companions being non-essential. Seems like others could have been easily added in.

Food is not for health, BTW- its advantage in Skyrim is stamina boost.

Yeah, i was just making a comment on the hardcoe reference not whether it should be in or not. I never played the hardcoe mode in FONV but I think I would in Skyrim just because I am more immersed into the characters I create. When they announced that cooking would in the game I thought for sure there would be a survival mode.

I personally wouldnt use it. I enjoy the freedoms of being able to choose when and where to eat and sleep, and not be penalized for skipping a meal or pulling an all-nighter. I roleplay like this because I'm given the choice, and I can do so my way - if it were to be forced upon me through a 'hardcoe' mode, then I likely wouldn't use it.

Well just think ho wmuch harder it would make the game, in a good way, I can't tell you how many times i just sat around and "waited" for days just to get shops to replenish... It's there so i do it y'know? I would be pissed if they implemented this and I had to start over again though just throwing that out there. It need to be a toggle.

Of course you could toggle it on and off, just like New Vegas

You know, I always played New Vegas with hardcoe mode. It made for a better challenge. Not the eating, drinking and sleeping, mind you. That part was a joke. And I consider it little more than inane upkeep and uninteresting.

No, I used it for the ammo weight and it's affect on healing. Those are things Skyrim could use. If only it had limb crippling...

I think its more of the immersion aspect more than anything else.

Running around on an empty stomach indefinitely, slaying enemies as you go along without ever needing an hour's rest is a lot more hardcoe than this so-called "hardcoe/survival mode".

A mod like OP mentioned should rather be named Realism Mode. I would not like to see it included in any future updates unless you could turn it off.

I somewhat agree. Eating/sleeping/drinking does not equal hardcoe. You want hardcoe gameplay? Go play the Realm of Arkania games.

I wanted to add that what some of you are describing is a survival mode. There is a difference between hardcoe and survival.
Nah. If you want hardcoe, play Dwarf Fortress.

Guys......hardcoe is just what they called it in New Vegas. It's a realism mode and it can be toggled off at any time. Please read the posts before you reply.

If all you want is immersion, that hardly requires a special mode for the game. Just go eat, drink and sleep on your own.

My ideal hardcoe mode would have mud you can actually sink in, snow/ice you can actually slip on or fall through, and things like avalanches. Anything else to me is meh.

Wow...there always have to be people who naysay....of course we can, and do, do that. We're just saying it would be fun to have a mode that tracks those things for us like in New Vegas. When it's actually part of the game system it feels more real.

I do. And I impose rules on myself too, like no eating or drinking potions when it would not actually be possible. But I would like for the game to demand these things. It helps with my immersion. For example. If I haven't slept in three days. I'd like to stagger a little when I walk, or fumble around. Perhaps the screen would become blurry. By the fifth day your on the verge of collapsing. That kind of thing. You cannot hold your shield up as well, etc., etc.
