What if
Spoiler
You side with Seranna, and try to prevent Harkon from sacrificing her, thus making Harkon the main antagonist of the vampire storyline? would love to see that

That seems reasonable I suppose.

Im guessin if we get to kill him as a dawnguard or traitor vamp then we get to loot that armor off his dead undead body. I hate the imperials but i once sided with the darkside just to kill ulfric and get his clothes

Dark side? They ain't no dark side in this game. Just various shades of gray.

I would also be interested to find out more about

how the sacrifice works. I.e. If there were an option to side with S, could you then use Harkon for the purpose of the sacrifice, thus accomplishing the original goal.

Thalmor.
I'm pretty sure you can't get more in the "Darkside" than them, unless Darth Vader fit into the equation...

So, there's so much about Dawnguard that still must be relegated to speculation but there's one thing of which I am certain: I think Harkon's armour looks sick. Do you think it will be unique to him or widely-used by the faction? It would be such a shame if it weren't lootable.
He might die in one of the stories. If he does you might be able to take it from his body.

Just like Tullius' armor and Ulfric's armor, it'll be if you sided against him. It's been confirmed that even as a Vampire, you don't have to side with Harkon and you can side with a certain other person so it's not that bad.
