How come in the latest round of previews all of the gaming journalists didn't have a problem going and doing whatever they wanted to?

Bear in mind that as release day approaches, they will allow more and more about the game to be revealed. I'm sure they planned in terms of what reviewers and trailers are allowed to show, and they may even have had planned in advance what aspects of the game would be "showable" at each of the big conventions (E3, QuakeCon, PAX, etc). It also frankly depends on how much is "done" enough to show. Given that PAX is going to be very close to release day, they may have been ready/able to show more.

From the social media I have been able to tell that Many of the Obsidian folks are now Playing (i.e. testing) the game, so we are likely very close to the final cut of content (aside from bug fixes). Plus one has to bear in mind that it's Ausir we're talking about here, and he is one of the most Known Fallout experts around. I would also not be surprised if he was under more scrutiny than other folks trying the game out, precisely because they knew whatever he saw would hit the Wiki and be seen by millions.

Either way, I suspect the PAX demos will be more free than E3 and QuakeCon in terms of what you can do - again Have Fun! :)

The rest of us will have to wait for October 19th - but I took vacation days from the 19th-23rd that week, my first-ever vacation taken on behalf of the release of a video game. Clearly I have been assimilated. :fallout:

T-Minus 54 days to V-Day.

See what kinds of weapons there are and how many companions can follow you.

I suggest you have fun and Don't take in a big list. As Gstaff mentioned, you will only have 20 minutes and that will go alot faster than you think.

I recommend keeping your list to no more than 5 things to look for in specific, and nothing that makes you travel too far apart. Otherwise your going to run out of time!

Have fun!!!

Miax

Yeah maybe I got a bit ahead of myself. I think I'll just probably write down new things I notice. But please, still give me ideas of what to look for

@Gstaff, Thanks for posting in my thread. Its kinda like seeing William Shatner do the same. :read:

In the latest batch of previews the gaming journos were able to leave freside and go where ever they wanted in the game. I don't know why the PAX demo will be any different.

Well when Ausir was trying to go out of Freeside into the wasteland a bethesda employee came over and said that that part isn't quite ready yet.
So you will probably have some restrictions.
Just thought I'd give ya a heads up.

Yes, maybe. But he only got a restricted playthrough on the second day of his play time. The first part of the preview contained all new stuff from exploring the wastes.

Post E3, we've been doing demos from the start of the game or starting at Freeside -- within those, you're free to do what you choose (in the Wasteland or Freeside) in the alotted time. The strip, however, has been off limits.

Want me to list different ammo types? I can do that. Tell you whether or not the Thompson is in the game?

Please see if you can find that out. Along with a handgun that looks like the M1911. .45 cal ammo must be in the game.

Look for a weapon that looks like a M2 Browning .cal Machine gun.

If possible find a gauss rifle and see if it takes 2mm ammo again.

Look for new creatures. Find a Fire Gecko and let us know if it's still as very deadly.

Try to get into a fight with a Radscorpion and see if it's Poisonous, find out if anything is Poisonous.

Drink and do drugs and tell us of the effects. Can we get drunk and stumble around? Can we have hallucinogenic effects.

Try Smoking! in game that is lol

Try Smoking!

But smoking is bad for you. I'll keep an eye out for the others though. I hope Jet is in the game.

If you start from the beginning, please take note of the starting gear.

Not sure if you will though, most of the people who played the demo started in Freeside, but even if you do take note of the starting gear anyway. :)

And the last thing you want is a Nicotine addiction along with a Jet addiction. :tops:

I suggest you just try to have fun. Do what you want to do, check out what you can and as soon as you stop playing, jot down whatever you can remember including your impressions of the game and pass it on. Try not to get too wrapped up in looking for something new to tell us and just focus on enjoying what you do see and/or find.

Check out all the skills in the game. I'd like to know what else I have to look forward to besides just Survival as a new/returning skillset. Descriptions of each would be nice as well.

Other than that, just make sure to have fun for those of us who couldn't go. =)

Already have... I think they appear to look just fine. http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/Supermutant-2.jpg
