I hope dawnguard is meant for really high-level characters

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:35 am

I really hope so!! My character just turned 62 last night and I can pretty much own everything on master difficulty. Alot of people from what I understand have achieved beyond that point so congratulations!! Hope dawnguard is as challenging as we all hope.

Die you damn dawnguard!! :starwars: :starwars:

I hope so too. I hate having no more reason to "Grow" My character after level 35.

Somehow I think the content will be scaled to your level, just a hunch.

Unless they have vastly different AI, they're no harder than a stock Dragon, except that you might need slightly more HP to avoid cinematic insta-kill.

I think the biggest hope for making "Harder" standard enemies, is making Giants that don't die in 2 hits. Those things can really beat you down in groups of 2 or 3 on Master, no matter what your level really is. Even with max Armor, they'll power attack a good third of your health off. (Fortunately they die fast enough at reasonably high level to avoid being surrounded)

Well in the trailer one dives into the sea so possibly new ai and tactics. + there looks like vampire versions of every creature and
Spoiler
there is also a portal to part of oblivion you can go into, so I doubt thats gonna be to easy
and everything will scale.

I believe everything will scale, so Dawnguard should supply some challenge for high-level characters.

Dawnguard is not intended for low-level characters.

Well, they have about the same behavior, but without some impressive magical and physical defense they make short work of most characters.

As for the actuall topic: I do hope that it have a higher difficulty than the vanilla game. A higher "min" level of the enemies and a much higher "max" level of the enemies(preferably higher than the level we can reach). Why having a min/max level solution? So that a character on high level won't find it to easy since it is past the level of the area as well as making it more accessable than: "This is a level 50 character area only." But that is just my opinion.

If everything scales, I won't even bother with Dawnguard.

Don't know where this came from. Bethesda hasn't actually said anything about Dawnguard. Their announcements come on Tuesday.

Like how Fallout: New Vegas incorporated a level restriction, rather an advised level restriction for their DLC? That would be interesting...

they mentioned at one point that their dlc would be designed for characters who had finished the mq. I hope this means that they're taking our abilities into account - similar to what they did with FO3 - albino scorpions, better super mutants etc. For the time being, I recommend that monsters mod over at the nexus that adds gargoyles, balrogs etc. They're not much harder, but at least they add some variation to the high end monsters.

Well except that an example of albino scorpions is an example of the crappiest-laziest thing they could do.

"this scorpion is too easy boss!"
"bleach its color and give it a bigger hp bucket!"
"really sir? No new tactics or tricks up his sleeve? I mean, hes pretty predictable.."
"yes, but he is a different color!"

Gone should be the days when a
Different color hat is the only thing between high and low. Imo at least. Thats atari style.

Unless they have vastly different AI...

I hope this isn't the case. I hope Legendary Dragons and the Dragon-Ancient Dragons all have the same AI.

I just hope the old dragons and these new ones have vastly improved AI from what they had before.

Speaking of, why does everything in Skyrim charge directly at you besides mages and archers? Why don't any enemies sneak up on you anything like that?

don't understand this thread.. all they can do is raise the dmg and raise the hp pool.

this means that you will try to find new ways to get even stronger till it is easy again... really makes no sense.

If you checked out the scans it says that dawnguard will be meant for high-level characters. How high I cannot say... I just hope it is for very high level characters.

If i had to wager i would say it is meant to be around soft cap. All you level 81ers will probably still lack a challenge, but level 81 was self inflicted so there is no cure.

Bethesda rarely does DLC for low levels. You should be fine.

That is true in a sense. But having to use your environment and cover and all that good stuff is something to take into consideration eh?

Could also add harder difficulty level. Which would be pretty lame though.
