How to be a light-weight

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:11 pm

Personally, the lightweight is the best body type by far. Its fast, takes advantage of the parkour system to it's fullest, and in the hands of someone who has say, mastered Mirrors Edge, it's speed and agility can be a dangerous weapon in of itself. Numerous times I've avoided dying by sprinting into a wall, "bouncing" off of it and landing into a slide to trip the poor sap, leaving me enough time to finish him off. And if your a medic "like me" and are taking advantage of perks and HCP's your hp should be at 5 bonus pips, doubling your health. This, pared with a good gun and good aim, could make you extremely dangerous.

On another note, I personally use the CARB-9 with various attachments (not gunna tell, least I let you guys copy me :3) and the Sea Eagle Pistol.

Well I'm (so far) a Medic/Operative (and doing pretty well with it) using the Galactic and Bolgo.

I agree with your assessment of Light bodies - we're awesome when done right. I'm not great at it, but I'm quickly getting back used to being the guy who can come from ANYWHERE.

On PS3 though, so no word on how I perform online yet.

I'm also loving the light and using the exact same weapons. HHow did you get the 5 bonus pips?

Once I get playing more cooperative games with my friends and we switch up classes for the lulz, I'll try being a Medium or Heavy Medic.

When you enjoy your five-pip health bonus, remember to thank your friendly neighbor Engineer for one of those pips (upgrading the Command Post).

I have a friend who runs the Light Medic, he's very good at what he does. But as a Medium Engineer gun-buffer and turret master, I'm also crucial to my team's success. The great thing about Brink is that it literally takes all kinds to succeed.

I love lights. It suits my style perfectly. Get in, do it, get out, mess some stuff up for the enemy along the way. I tend to use the speed to run away, wall jump then slide around a corner. Or while running away i'll jump, over something as theyre the best at clearing obstacles, whip around into a slide, and mow the guy behind me down.

Wheres this hate though? It not a concern for me so i havnt noticed, but i love them personally. I like heavys and mediums too. I walk around with my heavy and his mini gun, being a god in a tight hallway, or my medium doing a bit of both worlds...

Battle Hardened, Improved Life Buff, and a Health CP with Engineer Upgrade = +5

Battle Hardened gets you the first extra pip, normal Life Buff is +1, but the upgraded version is +2. health CPs also give you +1, but with a teammate who has the Upgrade CP ability, they can boost that to +2 as well.

Bungie forums? For Brink?

No wonder you're having trouble.

Check forums that are actually ABOUT the game. You'll find more people who actually know what they're getting into. Also, LOVING the ability to come at enemies from unexpected angles.

I love using the Light body to get to places others can't reach, and it's fun to circle-strafe around a turret as it's trying to track you and failing, and killing it with melee without taking damage.

That's what I'm talking about!

I love playing my lightweight operative with a CARB-9 (several attachments) and one of the pistols. I changed them around a lot.

Sometimes I'll change out my primary and take the Barnett light rifle and flank the enemies. They never see it coming!

I use the light as well and am typically either a medic or an operative. Light is the way to go! You just have to stay moving at all times. And bring the meds to your soldier brothers.

Nah, not my playstyle. Big gun, lots of health, pull trigger, laugh like maniac as the enemy falls before you lol This game does very very well for catering to diff playstyles. Glad that you nimble lil buggers are having as much fun as us big bullet-blockers lol

I sure do play a light Engi. It's great because you can get by without shooting a lot if you can set up turrets and mines in decent spots. After I've got them set, I bugger off and take potshots with my Drognav/Greeneye Scope. It's a great time.

I'm trying to run a Light Engineer atm. It's not easy but as I get better I think I will pwn.
I'm confident in my gun play enough to know I can get kills with the lighter weapons, but I need more experience with the SMART system to take full advantage.

The only 'problem' with a light engineer is you need a smart medic to be able to heal you and help you when you're on the objective because of such little health.
That mission in the Shipyard where the first objective is the crane is a prime example. Even as a Heavy you take a lot of damage trying to get that objective done.

Being able to get places faster and set mines and turrets down quick is a bonus though.

Get the Barnett and Improved Weapon Buff. Hang back and support your team from afar.

I appreciate your advice but that's not really for me - unless I'm on defense. I will try it out on Defense next time but for Attack I'm still all up in the grill with an SMG.

I do like the speed and extra parkour moves of the light body type... but I really, really hate their limited weapon selection, which is why I continue to play a medium body type for my main character. I use light for characters which dont fight as directly or as often - medic and operative. Both of those classes can take the fullest advantage of the light body type's speed and agility, without being as impacted by the weapon limitations.

Opti, I still wholeheartedly recommend trying a light rifle instead of an smg as a light engi. Not the Barnet, but the Drognav is a fantastic semi-auto and is equally viable on offense or defense, it just caters to a less suicidal playstyle.

Effective online, but not offline because of the aimbotting...well, bots. Slides dont work, neither do wallhops. Their aim is perfect and there is no way to dodge their bullets at higher ranks.

Why in Cthulhu's glorious name would you wanna play Light? The in-human aim of the enemy bots nullifies any and all advantage you'd get for being more "climby".
