12 or less?? :blink: Maybe if you rushed through it. I didn't rush and I didn't take my time and it ran for 40ish hours for me on the Dawnguard side alone, I would wager the vampire side would run for 40ish hours as well if I wanted to be a vampire. :smile: As for the state, I play on Xbox so I can only say that my version was as smooth as a babies bottom.

1) If you don't just dash thru everything, you'll get 25-30 hours easily.

2) Can't vouch for PC, but on Xbox I have very few problems none of them serious.

3) IMHO yes :thumbsup: !

I will admit that when clearing an area I tend to be slow and methodical but I did the Dawnguard side quests along with the main quest and explored like crazy. Did you find all the new spells in the Soul carin ? What about the Keeper did you kill him ? There's a ton of new stuff in the DLC you just need to explore which is what ate up most of my time.

Main quest,I haven't gotten around to the other things,I assumed that's what the OP meant. Either way though I don't think its possible to get more then 20 hours on it unless you're going very slowly.

If you cut out the fast travel it will last a solid 20-30 hours, then add in 10 hours more for exploration and checking every nook and cranny for anything new that was added. :wink:

I got a good 20 hours or so in it with the first character by playing how I normally play. I could breeze through it in like 5 hours if I wanted to, ignoring everything except the absolute requirements to beat it, but that wouldn't be any fun. I also could easily extend that time by doing everything it has to offer, about 40 hours per character, and would still enjoy it. As long as you don't try to just finish it so you can say you finished it, you should get 15-20 hours with your first character at least. And to the people saying it isn't worth the $20, I am dirt poor and thought it was worth it. The computer I'm using right now is a 2005 Dell, and I'm surviving on Ramen noodles. I had to save money for Dawnguard, and it was worth it.

Ah see that's the slow and methodical part for me, I like to explore and search as I work my way through a quest. You should try the no fast travel thing, I think you'll be surprised with the encounters and sights you see when you walk/run to each location. :smile:

I fast travel and yet I was still able to get decent hours of it. All of the areas you go to aren't even discovered yet so it doesn't matter if you fast travel or not.

Definitely. Some of those random encounters really make you think about how much work goes in to the smallest details.
And I like your choice in music. Your signature is one of my favorite songs.

There's so much stuff to see as you walk the wilds and I agree there is a lot of little things that people miss by fast traveling.
I love Megadeath!! Been a metal head since I was in Jr. high, Megadeath,Metallica,Pantera the list could go on :biggrin:

I play on PC, ihavent gotten through it all yet but i must say im enjoying Dawnguard.

I especially enjoy the music that seems to take place in dungeons filled with vampires, it gives a feel of dread/mystery :)
The story isnt that good, but the story is poor in Skyrim in general :S

If you dont use fast travel it should be pretty long though :D

And how much of that "40 hours" was spent doing vanilla content or all the way across the map to get to a cave? The Vampire side would take you just as long because

Spoiler
It's the exact same quest line

Realistically you can expect it to add on about 10-15 hours per character depending on how fast you are. That is including the side quests. You can pad the hours by not fast travelling but you're still going through the same Skyrim you've been wandering around in since 11-11-11.

I suppose it's fair to mention you also run the risk of losing gameplay hours due to having quests destroyed by Vampire attacks on towns. While this can be dealt with it really becomes a chore having to save before you enter a town or leave a building incase the place gets wiped out.

Whether it's worth it depends from person to person. If you aren't enjoying Skyrim Dawnguard will hardly bring back interest for anything other than short term. If you are enjoying Skyrim then go for it if you think you would enjoy it.

I find that hard to believe unless you somehow consider travelling through Skyrim as Dawnguard content.

you need to stop fast-traveling and explore a bit my friend, bethesda doesnt give you everything on a silver platter, you have to go find it. Many hidden new things like unmarked camps and ruins, new type of encounters, hell even the sea of ghosts got an overhaul.

Doesn't matter if you believe me or not, and yes I do consider it Dawnguard because I was doing Dawnguard quests as I traveled. No I didn't stop to explore caves and dungeons unless it was related to Dawnguard, no I wasn't doing any other quests because my main toon has already done pretty much everything there is to do so Dawnguard was all that was left to do. As I said I'm very methodical and cautious when it comes to clearing areas and exploring, the very first quest where you go to retrieve Serana lasted me an hour and a half to two hours that should give you an idea as to how methodical and cautious I am.

I've had 30+ hours with Dawnguard content, all up probably 20 odd hours of actual DG quests and related stuff.

Problems: On pc, there are a number. Obviously there will be mod compatibility issues, but those aside, here's my 'common issue' list:

1. Walking out into the sunlight from an interior cell (as a vampire in human form), I quite often get lockups or freezes;

2. Serana character has dialogue issues, in that if I tell her to wait or dismiss her, I can no longer get her to rejoin me (this is quite a commone problem people have);

3. There are some questline clashes, where it's obvious that the questlines weren't validated or thoroughly tested.

On the whole, it varies as to whether the problems you may experience are gamebreaking or simply nuisances, but it appears to me that Beth rushed this without providing an appropriate level of quality control.

Is it worth the money?

As content, and fun, I say yes, but....

In comparison to the main game, and what Beth said pre-release (that Skyrim dlc would see less releases but more content than the Fallout series), the cost of Dawnguard is around 1/4 to close to 1/3 of the main game, and it is questionable if it has the same or more content than most of the Fallout dlc's. The quality of the content is high, notwithstanding the problems I've outlined, although it is very niche focussed...but there isn't a lot of it so far as continued game use is concerned, unless you go down the path of the niche line such as werewolfing or vampiring.
