How many times have you restarted?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:33 pm

I have had this game since the beginning of December and I have only completed the college of winterhold. I cannot stop creating new characters. If there is something about a character I dont like after playing for a while, I restart. Or to try new skills or perks or builds.

My highest character was a battle mage and I got her to level 35. That is the highest level I have reached. And now I have placed perks in skills that I no longer use or want to use or the character has moved into a different direction.

I restarted again.

I can sympathize, I have restarted my fair share of times and then some. I will build a design and start running with it then want to change something and feel the need to start over. On the bright side, each time I get closer to a refined character for my enjoyment.

Many times. I actually restarted a specific character because I had ended up with a perk collection I did not like. Now Thorom doesn't have the Matching Set perk or the expert perks in restoration and destruction anymore.

Restartitis is very common, I have over 600 saves and around 40 characters. Most of the characters are just test of various playstyles.
I have five "Main Characters" that have saves after completeing certain quests, or getting a skill high enough to be playable as a main character (Destruction at 40, etc...)

Take the number of years the universe has existed for and multiply it by the number of pixels in Skyrim. A lot.

Maybe about 20... I was adapting to the game. I had never played anything like it except the mini amount I played of Morrowind. I would get into a character and think of another build and keep restarting... again and again.... then I stopped playing for a week or two and though of another build but took it slow. I made her and I think I'm going to able to stick through this character as she is interesting to me.

There needs to be a way to a) change facial features such as war paint, dirt, and hair (maybe color as well), and B) re-assign perks

I have restarted this game countless time, beat all of the guilds and the MQ but still need to finish the civil war and daedric quests

6 or 7 actual restarts, plus 3 or 4 test characters that I didn't level up much nor intended to. Highest (current) character is level 60 who got boring to play at around level 40'ish. I've given up playing now, even if I haven't quested much, as it's just too boring now without any good hardcoe and survival things going. I'm not complaining though, 500 hours of fun (also includes some frustrations during low level master difficulty) was well worth it.

And Lydia is stil with me, since we met...we're both at level32 now
A great deal of my mods are focussed on her appearance and fucntionality...it's like a 2nd character, that I'm playing alongside my own.

I think I've made about 15 characters or so....I'm starting a new one tonight, I forgot how much I miss destruction, restoration, and Daedric Armor.

I have had this game since the beginning of December

Same here, my highest character was a level 25 thief. Every time that I say to myself "this is it, this will be my first level 50 (or whatever)", I go and make another one.

Made my main character Trannigan twice. Another female character 4 times because I keep changing her race, and I've remade my Khajiit character twice too.

I've played 3 characters so far. I made many, many characters in Oblivion, however. More characters than I could count. I never got a character to 20 in that game. But I didn't care. I had fun.

I don't care how many characters I make in any game. The number of characters I make is complete irrelevant. I care about one thing: am I having fun? If I'm having fun playing one character after another after another after another, I feel no need to change that.

I reject the notion that the only right way to play an RPG is to play only one character; that if we continually make new characters we are 'doing it wrong.' The only wrong way to play, in my opinion, is to not have fun.
