How many of you have not had problems?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:53 am

Xbox 360:

I've played the game enough to be up to level 11 or so. No glitches or problems to speak of, and I haven't even hooked up to the internet yet to get the existing patch.

Great game, love it.

There is no existing patch. Only PC got a patch thus far.

I'm not going to vote in the poll because it's not a very accurate one. Obviously I've encountered little bugs and glitches; that's to be expected. But I haven't witnessed anything near the things people have been reporting with such holy fury.

I voted that I was disappointed with the game. Really, I'm just slightly annoyed. I have problems with my saves, auto and quick saves revert to where they were after my first session end. :banghead: They work fine during the game, but when I totally restart, those save are games that are in Primm. I've only had 3 times the game crashed (the first one was when I found out about the save problems), and one was when I was shutting down the game. Over all, I really like the game-just annoyed with some problems. <_<

Oh, the manual saves are okay. I just do them more often. :goodjob:

I unwrapped my game, popped it into my PS3, created my character, started the tutorial with Sunny Smiles, and then my system locked up...

This has only happened with 2 games, Fallout 3, and Fallout: NV.

Luckily, after my polite and detailed support request, the Bethesda support email helped out greatly... They copy and pasted the huge generic email with the "workarounds" for the common problems.
"1. Problems may arise if you have been playing the game for an extended period of time. Let the system cool down, then try running the game."

Great, so I guess I should power down my PS3 every 30 minutes.

Had a couple of crashes and savegame losses after the patch - ( played for almost 2 days before this happened ). I have now played for more than 17 hours with only 2 crashes and once my savegames reverted back to abouit 3 saves previous ( from 17 back to 14 - a little strange  ), but I love this game, it's another sleep depriver. :celebration:
Thanks again Bethesda - ps I also had virtually no problems with Fallout 3 either.

I have had no game breaking or even close to game breaking bugs or glitches but for some reason I am extremely nervous about them I hope the patch comes rolling in soon. *Crosses Fingers*

I have had 3 bugs so far:

Bug 1. Viper gunslinger blasted 20 feet into the air after I threw dynamite at her. I thought it was a cool cinematic shot until she did not come down and kept shooting at me from 20ft above. Threw another stick of dynamite at her and she came back down...creepy.

Bug 2. My shotgun looking weapon turned into dynamite when I hit the attack trigger.

Bug 3. Geckos stuck in rocks.

Nothing game breaking, still love love love the game...but I'm afraid to do the Come Fly with me Mission b/c of all I hear about games breaking after it.

I had no problems until the Red Ring of Death. XBox360. So now I have to wait a few weeks to see if I have any of these bugs, glitches, etc. that everyone is talking about. MAYBE by that time a patch will have come out. Maybe.

It seems weird that there are so many problems on the consoles which are basically closed systems - same os/hardware for everyone. Hard to imagine issues this serious by-passing the game's QA entirely.

The OP (I think) has suggested that it may be down to l11n and that may well be the case, but I'm wondering if it could be down to the pre-order bonus dlc that most users this early will have had. My copy should arrive tomorrow (UK release & I'm using a 360), so if I have any issues, the first thing I'm going to try is removing the bonus dlc.

k heres the bugs ive had.. nothing gamebreaking tho. ONE- some scorpians got stuck in the ground although i liked it cause i was getting mobbed anyways... saved me lol TWO- when using the service rifle if i hit the hot key buttons up and left on my d pad at the same time it reloads the gun but makes it so it has 20 bullets in clip 52 left NO matter what but if i do it again itll give me all my bullets back. the easy way to fix is to to just hot key the service rifle into the up left dpad so you dont have to hit that when your using it. yea those are the only bugs ive had.. wonder where are these crazy system crash bugs are coming from?

"Not at all, the game works fine."

The onlything I have noticed (maybe not even a bug) is that when you pick something like Xander Root, all the others that where around it suddenly cant be picked.

Oh then I guess I'm not missing anything by not hooking up to the net :).

Don't need a patch anyway, my game works perfectly. :woot:

So I have been reading these forums and am seriously debating wether or not to get the game now. I've read alot of problems about it but was just wondering who HAS NOT had problems?

Is it also possible that said problems are region specific, or would that not make a difference.

in my 10 hr so far i have had only 1 glitch occur and a quick reload cleared it up

the woman you talk to in the junkyard for the ed-e mission and her 4 dogs i talked to them before going to the solar power station
well in the middle of the power station mission i went through a door her , her 4 dogs and 2 molerats appeared with the mole rats and 2 of the dogs on agro to me
i defended my self and suddenly all the NCR guys agroed on me

so i reloaded my game went through with only 1 issue 4 of the NCR dogs guarding on of the terminals you need to interact with behind the power station were on offencive to me
and if i defend my self against them i get all the NCR on me again
so an easy fix
i reloaded again and it didnt fix the dogs they were still offensive to me so i ran did my thing with the terminal and then booked it for the door back into the tower
and that worked

other then that i have experienced no other glitches in this game so far

so yes i have experienced a glitch but no i am not disappointed in this game as of yet

EDIT: not long after posting this
i went back to the vickyvance casino
and they open fire on ED-E killing him and left me alone before i realized what was going on

i reloaded and it didn't happen again

I'm not the sort to enter a discussion about glitches and say "Huh, I've had no glitches at all". But, now that you ask, no, I've had no glitches at all. So far.

It's a dream compared to Fallout 3: GOYT.

Only problem I have had is the flashing black and white squares but turning off the bloom fixed that. I never had any problems running Fallout 3 either.

I wonder if its system heat causing a lot of people problems, A friend of mine was having problems running games on his PC, crashes, corrupted saves, graphics anomalies, etc, we opened his case and found his CPU and graphics card heatsinks were choked with dust, not to mention the layer of dust covering everything else. After giving it a good clean out his problems went away.
Xbox and PS3 also collect a lot of dust inside due to their compact nature.

I give my PC a good internal clean every few months, you would be suprised how much dust gets in there in a short period of time.

I was unable to play due to the NPC lag issue but as soon as i dropped that dx9.dll file into my fallout folder it fixed all my issues.

I don't patch games unless I see that the patch offers some type of in-game enhancement. If it's not broken...

Exactly, the way I think. Enter Steam.....now my game that had been working perfectly is completely borked after tonight's patch. Without Steam I simply could have gone on playing perfect happy and ignorant to the fact that a new patch even existed. Now I have a game I can't play.

Only problem I've had was a small bug where the bullet on my silenced pistol has a bullet in mid air next to it when in third person. Not major especially since I don't play in 3rd person.

No major problems for me yet. I'm on the PC. I did get some drops in framerate near human NPCs, but there's a DLL workaround that fixed that up immediately. Loving the game so far.

From what I've observed in these and Steam's forums, it seems only the Steam version has a ton of problems.

I have retail and the game runs flawlessly. I can't say the same about FO3, which to this day still crashes or freezes every 5-10 minutes.

NV I've played for 8 hours straight yesterday and not even so much as a loading stutter.

My hat is off to Obsidian, because none of their other games (like NWN2) have performed so well, and that had me concerned for MONTHS waiting for NV. Now that I have it, I would gladly give Obsidian and Bethesda sixual relief for the justice they've shown to my favorite RPG series.
